Finished Table
Table finished and ready for a Xmas Epic Warpath game. The mat is one available in the Mantic Epic Warpath Kickstarter.
‘Project Barad-dûr’
I wanted to make a center piece for the final element (at least for now) of my Epic Warpath table. I had a tongue in cheek idea that I nicknamed “project Barad-dûr” for hopefully obvious reasons. I wanted a center piece that really stood out on the table and drew attention. The tower was similar in concept to how I made all the other building pieces with the added challenge that it had to be sliced into 4 different sections to be 3D printed due to its size and shape – painting something of this size proved to be its own challenge but ultimately very happy with how it turned out.
3 x Forest Area Terrain
Intent with these forest pieces was to create functional area of effect terrain that provides cover benefit in game, while matching the rest of the table in style. The principle was the same as for previous pieces, where each forest involved combining multiple rock STL files into the desired shapes then reducing the vertical axis of the file to essentially ‘squash’ the files creating flat areas. The trees were painted in subtlety different colours for variety.
Assorted Scatter Terrain
Assorted pieces of scatter terrain to add some variety to the table, act as objectives and generally break up the table.
Four LoS blocking rock formations.
These are four rock outcrops of various sizes. Intent is that they will block los and force movement choices around them during the game while perpetuating the look and feel started with the buildings.
Remaining 5 initial buildings finished.
This is the first wave of 6 buildings for the table. I have plans for a few more buildings that are a little more factory than administrative but see how that goes. Next stage is to try some more natural terrain for the table but using similar principles used to the buildings.
