I think this is going to be a must-have for me, even though I already have the older Starter Set! My current Dungeons & Dragons campaign is coming to the end of its first part soon, so this might be a good opportunity to think about what's next.

Seems affordable for a starter set! I notice that there is also a discount on the main rule book: does this mean that there is a new edition coming up? Or are they just being nice?

This is neat. I’m not really surprised this is happening, based solely on my personal experience. I’ve got the game and all the fixings, but I have not been able to convince anybody to run through the original Starter Set with me. Nobody had any interest in doing “Hobbit Adventures”, it would seem! Letting them play Elves and Dwarves and all the other more traditional Tolkien-ish archetypes would probably make the game more broadly appealing.
This high level “starter set game” that most of the RPG industry has adopted seems like a wonderful way to do things. And I really like the storybook style standees, paper printed miniatures can be awesome even if the internet doesn’t realize it.
