Unity is a beautifully imagined RPG world. First launched way back in July 2016 on Kickstarter, it immediately exceeded it's target goal significantly. Now it's back though Modiphius Entertainment, and interested players can purchase the core rulebook online in PDF format.

Unity is an RPG which focuses on spectacular storytelling, cinematic moments, deep character growth, and a riveting combat system that encourages you to combine your powers with your allies to overcome impossible challenges.

And, just looking at the rulebook, Unity RPG is almost worth buying for the artwork alone, which is stunningly detailed.

However, the RPG itself is just as gripping, and players will soon find themselves enthralled by this brave new world of arcane adventure. A definite must-buy for all role-playing gamers out there.

This looks fascinating, can’t believe I hadn’t seen it before given my endless efforts to collect every RPG that sparks my interest. Is the physical book going to be sold through Modiphius as well?
As for my favourite, that is pretty hard to say, I love the innovation in Dread, the elegant tactical gameplay of D&D 4e, the grandiose themes of Nobilis, the romantic tragedy of Polaris, the sinister childhood adventures of Little Fears, or the anime mech adventures of Heavy Gear and so many others.
But if I have to pick one, I’ll pick the one where I had my favourite adventure as a player. That narrows it down to three
– Trail of Cthulu at a convention played an x-files style adventure as a group of FBI agents who wake up in a crashed car with no memory of what happened. Spent a couple of hours piecing the puzzle together and the detective work was great fun.
– D20 Modern: Playing a group of assassins sent to take out a politician giving a speech, only in session 2 to find out it was a time-travel campaign, and spend the entire second session working to prevent the assassination we had carried out in the first session. All part of an elaborate test setup by the time-travelling secret agency our characters were being considered for. It was the GM’s meticulous planning and clever touches that made the second session not feel like a cheap time-travel trick, but actually, like it was what had happened all along.
– Heavy Gear – Alternate Setting: Played out in a post-apocalyptic world, where only certain people can use technology, but other people are magically gifted. Spent a good section of the campaign travelling the ruined world, wind up rescuing a child and trying to get them to some people who promise to help us. Eventually, my character (who had the gift of using technology) got a cool vampire-themed Mech to fight with. Big reveal about half-way through the campaign is that the villains and the faction opposing them in the world are being led by people who are part of an interstellar war. So we had spent the entire campaign up to that point thinking that the world was it. Then we learned the boy we rescued has a rare third gift that means he can open a portal to let people travel from one planet to another in an instant. We are told it’s basically a knightly order (by the people that gave us the mech) and that we are to use the boy to escape to another world, that we will travel as questing knights until we find a world that needs our protection and we will become world knights like they are. So we did, and it totally changed the tone of the campaign to become “what crazy world are we visiting this week”, but with this gradual epic plot in the background.
Ok, from that short-list, for now (I reserve the right to change my mind) I am going to say D20 modern.
Put my money in for the kickstarter, and will be nice to have the physical book in my hands.
