Blood angels troops are probably the most cheesy part of the codex compared to vanilla marines- nothing at all taken away, no downside to the extra rules they have, and at the same points cost, only difference being additional options and the ability to field as many land raiders as some entire chapters posses on one force organisation chart.
i dont think there is any cheese in the blood angels codex thats just people on the internet complaining i mean lets go with the biggest so called cheese
mephiston – no invul start shooting ap 1 and 2 at him he falls faster then a ton of bricks
land raiders – cost to much in my opinion with thw amount of fire power people can have in the game most of the time you are paying 250 points for a crater in your deployment area before you have a turn
assasult marines as troops – we are an assult army we should have them as troops granted they should cost a little bit more but they arent broken by any means
everything being fast – ok with the vindicator whirlwind or predator they cost way to much on vannilla codex so i think they are balanced here and with razorbacks and rhinos they cost way more in this codex
I don’t actually have a problem with Mepheston, as you say AP1/2 and there are a few characters around who can inflict instant death regardless of toughness, the problem characters are the Sanginor, Astorath and Dante, yes they cost tonnes but they give back a whole lot more, unless you use them wrong, and being able to change an enemy units stats permanently, automatically is just plain wrong IMO.
Land raiders can deep strike in the blood angels list and that is were the cheese comes from, there may be an inherent risk of deep striking something that big but with careful placement you can minimise that risk and bring them down safe were they can start tearing things up most of the time, and the number one complaint after a tourney is “there wasn’t enough terrain to go round”.
Assault marine troops are cheesy the way they’ve been done IE troop assault marines retain all the options of the regular fast attack marines get the flamer half price and can take an honest to god plasma gun or a plasma pistol as they feel like it.
Fast vehicles for the loss of a search light, okay the rhino and razorback cost 15 points more, for the rhino it might be an issue, for the razorback, it comes back to the assault squad, 5 of them with no jump packs, it will cost 10 points more than a tactical squad, but you get 35 back, so its 10 points cheaper overall, so they can have a flamer or melta gun(which the tacticals cant at 5 men strong) and still cost the same, be a fair bit better in close combat and get cheap plentiful meltas on the field.
And the black rage is only beneficial in game terms, there might be fluff about how Astorath kills anyone with the rage(except Lemartes) and how they eventually die(except Mephiston) of it but there is nothing that effects the game, unless you call the chance you’ll take damage from being fearless at the end of a combat a big enough downside to furious charge, and personally I don’t since furious charge makes you that bit less likely to lose the combat anyway.
Hehehe people like to cry a lot about codex blood angels and they compare this codex with the regular space marine codex… well since the beginning ( or 2th edition) the blood angels have been superior that the regular space marines for different reasons… you can not compare this codex to space marines, you must compare this codex to space wolves or to grey knights.
Because they are not a “codex” chapter you must compare with non codex chapters and you will see that they are the second worst of the group :grey knights>space wolves>blood angels>dark angels… hehehehe…. always have been like that … and always will be… ;p
I just love having Assault Squad as troops. Granted that Blood Angels have one of the best codexes currently out and they are forgiving army. You can make even big mistakes and still you have chance to win. Most other 40k armies don’t have that luxury.
What about Lemartes, no comments on him? Is there any character that can make your Death company not prone to Rage? If you attach a Sanguinary Priest or a Chaplain to them you still have to go or nearest enemy unit?
Thanks
Lemartes himself is subject to rage, and there is no character at all that overrides the rage. In fact, I believe if an independent character joins Death Company, they get subject to at least the movement restrictions of rage as well.
Rhino transport is not subject to the Rage rule, Death Company troops are free from the Rage movement restrictions while embarked?
