New Corporation Concepts from Mantic Games
November 28, 2011 by brennon
Some brand new Corporation Concepts have appeared on the Mantic Games blog today. Check them out below...
Since we last saw some Corporation concepts during the Warpath week they have gone for a very sleek yet archaic design on the armour, totally offset by their technologically advanced rifles and gadgets.
You can also download the first try at the Corporation Rules here.
Are you enjoying the new Corporation look and rules?

Love ’em. Standard and easily placed in any sci-fi game system.
Who want’s to live forever?
‘Would you like to know more?’
“I’m doing MY part!”
I’m doing MY part too !
I’m from Buenos Aires, and I say kill ’em all!
Both the rifles and the heavy weapon (specially the heavy weapon) are very lasgun-ishy xD
I’ll certainly buy some of them for use in other games, mainly Flying Lead. But, I could use a combination of those and the Shock Troops from Wargame Factory to build a small, 400-point Imperial Guard unit for Combat Patrol games. That might be cool.
Pretty standard really, nothing new or original.
That pretty much sums up Mantic in general though eh? can’t really blame though though, it’s their business niche to sell cheap generic plastic stuff that can fit into a variety of settings which is fair enough I guess. Not my thing though.
There seems to be some “angst” over Mantic making miniatures that can easily be used as proportional proxies for other games (including those who are making their own games for fun, but also obviously the IG) – and I’ve seen a few people saying these are like Mantic’s own minis for “their own game” … but do they really think people are gonna be buying these miniatures for Warpath the ruleset?
No offense to the Mantic guys but I just don’t get along with their “put on damage counters” mechanic for sci-fi troops. I’ve seen games being played at it just doesn’t make sense to me, in a sci-fi setting. Seeing people shove squads of 30 orks around seems weird to me, then suddenly, the entire unit vanishes.
What do people thing about the Warpath rules? Any of you dudes played it? Do you really see people buying these miniatures in order to specifically play Warpath?
Warpath is about units not models, its a far less common concept in 28mm than in 15mm or 6mm scale, and what that leads into is far more abstraction than something like 40k or warmachine were every model counts, but its part of the design to make it tournament friendly via use of a chess clock, if your opponent had to pick out individual models to remove them you’d be stopping the clock after rolling every units shooting rather than once a turn after the nerve checks. Maybe a set of skirmish/advanced rules were every model counts at its fullest would help bridge the gap, and maybe help even create like a weight class for tourneys or something…
I hope this translates into cool models.
These are inline with concept for human scifi line troops. A little universal, maybe but no different to the GW guard basic models. I hope they have characterful leaders/elites to pull the army together.
Decent concepts but theres nothing here that really peaks my interest. I’ve got one eye firmly on ALIEN WAR from Defiance Games to be honest.
I am looking forward to seeing some painted examples from Mantic but there isnt anything about WARPATH so far that interests me. Forge Fathers came close but…. Meh.
Mantic is quite generic with it’s base figures and it comes down to selling enough to make the company work. By selling across a wide demographic of players, they seem to be making it work. The problem with this strategy everyone knows is a kind of bland “typical” figure. I do hope Mantic branches out a bit when they do start “making it” and have some excess money to devote to taking chances.
In all fairness, they have made some nice figures: most of the Abyssal Dwarf line (especially the Half-breed), Drakon Rider and Stormwind Calvary are quite nice, most of the Undead range is a tick above average and looks great.
I enjoy having Mantic around for mixing and matching minis, and swapping bits from this figure to that. The whole range (save the Elves) is perfect for kitbashing.
I played a lot of Kings of War and like the rules a lot. Not the best, but still perfect for the 2-3 hours I have available to meet friends and game a week. We can have massive battles in no time flat. (We did rid ourselves of the clock though…we preferred to take time with friendly and unfriendly banter and take a tad more time.) I can understand your discomfort at the “unit” based game, but in reality, it really takes out a step and bangs up your models less. Try a few games and you’ll wonder why you bothered with taking one model at a time out before. Plus, for people who enjoy having a bit of fun with units and adding extras, it’s not a problem, figure out a unit size and work within it. All in all, simple, fun game.
Hope that helps.
i’m really looking forward to these being released. i saw the finished models (well pics of them) at the warpath open day, as well as the artwork for the general. they look awesome! the whole range (apart from individual characters) are going to be in resin-plastic and it’s not going to affect the cost!!!!!
As for playing Warpath, i love it. i have no issues with the “unit” mechanic of the game. it work fine. it just doesn’t work like somebody elses game. i think saying the models are generic at the moment is fair. i say just wait until the zzor, the rebs and the plague armies are released before applying it across evrything mantic does. heh heh heh and wait and see whats coming out around easter…………………….
Plague armies, you say? Hmm, I’m looking forward to that.
Care to expand more on what Zzor or Rebels are?
A Cadian by any other name would go squish so sweetly?
Have been looking for a miniature set for ONI Corporate infantry (AT-43) for a while.
This might be what i have been waiting for. 🙂
the zzor on the face of it seem tyranid like, but, these guys are more overtly insect-like but with actual technology not symbiotic creatures. the rebs from what i understand are the all the downtrodden victims of the corporation that have had enough. there will be some human elements to the army but mostly aliens. who.although weak by themselves find strength in banding together to stand up to the machine which is “The Corporation” (or thats how it was explained to me).
