At minute mark 31, and I believe early. There was a snap to cover(S2C) move where ER level was changed. However you can not change ER during a S2C. I pointed this out in a previous video, but I’ll point it out here as well. The assassin would have made it into base contact regardless. I just wanted to point it out there.
Really enjoyed Mercs week. Hope the game gathers momentum: there are certainly some great models.
Also the Forward Observer has a machine pistol that he could have used in melee against the assassin. Minute mark 36.
Minute mark 38 the pathfinder moved up 2 levels without stopping on another level. When changing elevation you have to go up 1 level at a time. If you don’t have a level 1 to stop at when getting to the level 2, you can not make that move. (Hope that makes sense)
I don’t like correcting playstyles, however with these being “demo” games I feel like it is necessary.
Kemvar is my first choice for a MERCS faction. I’m a huge fan of their look and tactics. I love the wolf-pack stuff, and I love the Predator vibe of the whole faction.
What’s better than MERCS? FREE MERCS!!!
I think the best part of the 3 video series is you see Warren get a better and better handle on the rules. Great job guys.

I hate to be the nitpicker, but Warren: Your KemVar sniper is a “she” not a “he”. Aside from that, great video. It’s a great game with some fantastic minis and a lot of potential for future growth/expansion. It’s also a great game for introducing new players to wargaming because it’s low cost and the rules are pretty simple (relatively speaking in this hobby). Glad to see it getting some love on BoW.

love the kemvar. wonder who would win in a stealth match kemvar vs sam fisher and solid snake.
Great videos, although I have not finished this one. You pulled me into the game. There is so many things I like about this game, the small armies, small playing areas needed ( but can go larger if you want a multi player game), the fact you can set up missions easily. Would love to see a multi player game…with everyone with their own mission objectives.

Superb stuff, fellas. I reckon the best “[game] week” you’ve done so far.
These demo games have given me a real feel for the gameplay – seeing which initiative rolls are the most helpful or damaging and developing opinions about what you’re doing.
A question for Infinity players – how does Mercs measure up to your game? I’ve played neither but I think I’d adore them both.
I think Kemvar just became my favorite faction. Love the assassin.
Warren has the worst dice rolls, but he still won.

Loved the video guys. Laying out a general tactical suggestion here though, anytime you go against Waza target one of the three nuke guys because they need all three for it to go off. I have really enjoyed the week though and glad to see so many people are excited for it.

You got me. I’ve been watching your vids for years without registering but mercs looks so damn good I had to get in for a chance to win the mega bundle! Love the videos, thanks guys.
Looks like a fun game and the table is superb. Does the rulebook have different mission types or scenarios, things like objectives, reserves/flank attacks, capture the flag? Stuff that would represent a covert ops raid a bit more than kill the other guys (not that kill the other guys isn’t fun too).
Not sure if there are scenarios in the rulebook, cos i don’t actually have one myself. But there is a really nice set on the Mercs forums.
The rule book as some scenarios for the four factions in the book but most the scenarios are in the campaign rules which is a PDF download on the website.

MERCS looks like a lot fun. I suspect it’s easy to make a progressive campaign out of it, but that’s what it really needs to get my gaming group on board. Only found Beasts of War this week. Spent all night tonight watching the three demo games and all the faction interviews. I’m pretty sure I’m hooked now, so good job.

I like the ‘higher position means an actual advantage in dice rolls’ mechanic, and as I siad at the start the kemval were the minis that attracted me, this is my favourite of the three videos.
Mercs seems a great little game, and I think its the simpleness of it that’s most appealing, 5 minis, some cards and some d10’s , and off you go.
Its been one of my favourite ‘weeks’ you’ve done, nothing will ever top blood angels week, the sergeants blessing video being the funniest thing wargame related I’ve ever seen , but for me, this runs infinity week a close second.
So thanks to all involved.

I’ve really enjoyed Mercs week, the ‘new’ format for the demo games I think has worked great. Looks like you’ve really enjoyed yourself playing this and it’s nice to see the little errors throughout the games instead of having everything perfect, we all know that’s what the real world’s like.
Now it’s just a matter of convincing other people to buy a starter box too.

@35 mins…
a) s2c does not constitute a Move action. A miniature can only S2C once in any given string
of movement, but it can take place before, in the middle of, or after any given Action.
b) Set & Rip: Once set the unit can unleash hell in a 180 degree forward arc. Any movement, be it Snap to Cover or the free 90 degree turn requires the model to reset.
FAQ 1.5 explicitly confirms that you can s2c before setting in same round.

I think he may have been getting confused with the Demolition’s ability to move grenades 1 card away or something. Can’t find any other reason in the rules for it to move.

@1:20:23 Getting into Melee: Where does it say that you can only get into Melee if you have the ‘Charge’ CCM? As I see it any model within base distance go into melee; charge is a special ability on top.

I liked watching all three of these demo games, gave me a really good idea of what the game was about and how it was different from other turn based war games I have played. I do like some of its changes to the game and how its plays out, and I like the idea of playing with the small team for some fast and intense style of games. I really look forward to seeing more on this game in the future.

Multi-level skirmish gaming is the way to go. Great video this one. I really like how you highlight the multi-level aspect. Takes me back to my old Necromunda days.
Highlight of the video, minute mark 43 I believe…Warren’s evil grin as he points out to Lucas that he gets to nail the forward observer as part of his heavy template shot.
Not many factions can say they got Tac Nuked and walked away from it with a win. lol.
The terrain in here is great, actually. I’m taking notes.

I really like the Keizai Waza, the models look so cool. They look hard to play though.
I really enjoued watching all the intro games. Only got a chance to see them overthe week end. It’s mad that it can take up to 2 hours to play a game with only ten models and I mean that in a good way.
I just wonder how long it would take to carry out a senario like that in “real life”. Probably just about 2 or 3 min to be realistic. Two teams meet stumble upon each other, a firefight happens, game over.

I like the Keizai Waza models better than the Kemvar, but man is that stealth ability nice.

Still a little confusing for me, but I expect if I could look through the Rules while running a test game it would get a little clearer (to me, dont get me wrong – you guys are doing a great job of showcasing the system, I’m just having trouble putting Rule A into Slot B)

great video guys but… TURN OFF AUTO FOCUS – its really annoying! Zoom in to something in the distance, focus the image and then when you zoom in or out everything will stay in focus (called deep focus)
Other than that I’ve really enjoyed this week, great to see a tight game that can be played with just ten models.

Have really enjoyed the videos and will think agree with others that low mini count does make it attractive.
