I predict…..
The marauders are going to melt into the ground by intense gunfire!
Gripping stuff, love the cliffhanger at the end…
THis flow player sucks!!!!!!! I can’t watch any video on it. 🙁
yeah my player is lagging really bad on this stream
Yeah the vid kept stopping on me
I am having a horrible time trying to watch this vid also. I have gotten to about 18 seconds on about 10 attempts.
I can’t get it to play without it stoping every 5 sec and it won’t buffer slither, blip.tv is so much better.
I was wondering if it was just my awful internet then read this and the follow comments – yeah, it skips very badly for me, and I don’t think it was intended as a slide-show! :/
is it me or did it look like a fantasy game with big blocks of troops all lined up.
and the stream was awful, i spent more time waiting than watching
it did look a bit like i need to mortar those suckers… cohesion rules need relaxing so it doesnt look silly.
The stream was unwatchable imo
keeps restarting for me , but then again my power hamster is tired
I hate to be a negative Nancy but couldn’t you set the table better with the different types of terrain that are used in Warpath and talk about them. We are talking about a game made by the guy that brought true LOS to 40k it’s kind of important. I know in the primer it says to go light on terrain if you are a new player but you guys are Vet Wargamers.
I would have like to see it but the stream in unbearable… sorry
They may have fixed things now, working fine for me.
Gotta say looks like quite a good game, fairly simple to get the basic rules down and start playing which is always nice.
PS Love the cow tape measure
… I think I’m the only guy who watched it without incident …
So annoyed at the cliffhanger ending lol!
The video was nearly unwatchable fo me too 🙁
I have not been able to get past 5min on the video and I have had other issues with this player. I hate to have to say this but if this is going to be the backstage player I am not going to be able justify paying for back stage.
The video worked fine for me. And I’m happy that this flow player was ad-free! I don’t mind supporting BoW but if I’m spending money the Backstage vids should be ad-free, in my opinion.
First up – thanks for putting this up. Great way to get a sense of the game after reading the rules.
I too had problems with flowplayer, it doesn’t seem to bluffer either, so I can just leave it to load up and then watch.
I agree with @tactileson, that backstage should be ad free, but I’d rather have an ad than broken videos.
Yeah, sorry guys i’m going to have to say that I was unable to stream the video at a reasonable speed. Great shame considering this is the added content I paided for…
The Flowplayer vids have never worked well for me. Please stop using flowplayer and go to your other posting method. I have problems at all with the other one.

Once we change the streaming method for one (which we will do today), the method will change for all.
We’re gonna have a go with a different approach.
Don’t worry guys we’ll get the teething problems ironed out.
looks an interesting game!
I must have been another of the few with no stream issues!
Yeah i have a suspicion, that its because we are pushing a HD feed through it that its not happy on slower connections. And because its actual real streaming it doesn’t actually buffer the way youtube does.
We’ll likely revert to a procedural download today (technology similar to youtube) as not only can people pause it and wait for it to buffer, it should have less compatibility problems with iphone and ipad.
We may also revert to an SD version of the video as the default and then have HD optional.
If its HD that makes sense…my laptop hates it.
I liked the player thats sd with an hd upgrade button. On my desktop ill do hd but for fast stream and laptop use im sticking with sd. I also like to play stream, pause it and wait for buffer to fill.
So yeah for me its +222 for a switch
Agreed, you know we’re suckers for quality and HD here in the BoW studios, but it’s not worth it if you can’t watch the shows.
We already made the switch to SD on the non backstage content as default, and it only caused compliments on speed lol
By later today we’ll have this in place, but we have to render some vids as SD which might take a wee bit of time, but this how to play will be fixed first 😉
Thanks for the update!
HD is overrated. Darrell sounds the same in SD and miniatures are small enough you can’t see details of them from distance anyway. Unless you zoom in and then again SD is enough
Thanks chaps for being johnny on the ball and sorting this!
Working ok on my desktop so its an HD issue
I suggest pander to the lowest tech- ie stream SD with upgrade to HD available
I spoke to soon, its just gone all turdelicious
Geezzz even with an 8mb link it still sucks
Thank you for listening and all the hard work you do to put on a good show. Sounds like you have the issue figured out.
stop start for me…played for a few seconds and then stopped…..
One thing about the look of the game (to be fair – I’ve not got a chance to play a game yet), it does seem much less skirmish and more unit based. Feels more mass warfare than small scale combat, than the likes of 40k and infinity. Personally I prefer to play that scale action in a smaller scale than 28mm. If you watch any footage of modern troops in action they are always 4m+ apart so they don’t all get hit by grenades/rockets/ied etc… Just first impressions.
The more I think about it, it’s more about the traits of the races. One thing some of the other games do well is to make the tactics of the race/armies really match the background. So my comment above is maybe more aimed at the fathers/dwarfs. The ork do make sense to be a charging ramble. Even a human conscript army [guard/krieg] would be a unit based and herded into battle by the sarg/co. But the dwarfs should [I feel] play differently and look different on the battlefield, a mix of gunlines and small elite squads of counterattack shock troops? The stat lines do look different enough.
I like the fact that the game is aiming to be streamlined, the other side of that coin is the gw model of complex codexes trying to fight with each other, with armies with 5 years difference…
Maybe I should shut up until I’ve played it…
I like the thought of Dwarven shock troops! 😛
I really wanted to watch this video, but I can’t due to the stop start.
Considering this is “Premier Backstage” content, you’d think the video would not stop every 5 seconds.
The game look disappointingly like the gungan vs. droids silliness from Star Wars episode I
Napoleonic-like squares of troops shooting each other with lasers and doing less damage then actual early XIX century redshirts’ guns
Actually the video wasn’t too bad for me (shrugs) although as a longer vid it did freeze every now and again, making Andy and Darrell sound like Shatner’s Kirk 😉
My prediction for Darrell’s turn? Immense pain for Andy’s Marauders. Que the dice bucket for shooting. I doubt he’ll move anything save for the tank, maybe. After the small game I played I can’t see how being in the open will result in anything less than a smorgasbord of greenskins.
I know you guys at BoW love quality, but do we have to see Darrell’s face in HD all the time? 😉
Best of both worlds??

lol, nice.
should have used a round cheese- of course that blocky effect means we have no idea who that is 😉
I’m afraid the flowplayer didn’t work for me either. I’d be happy to watch something like this at 360p or thereabouts. For unboxing or painting vids, I tend to opt for HD and let it load on my relatively slow connection, but as others have pointed out, the flowplayer doesn’t buffer.
with ADSL2+ down here in Australia, even a high speed connection doesn’t play this very well at all. Not to mention no ipad support… good luck guys, but i hope you ditch this flow player..
On the quality front agree sd with option to go up to hd sounds good. Hope the iPad/iphone issue does get sorted as well though as just got my apple tv and air streaming BoW onto the living room tv in HD and and surround sound is pretty cool! (also saves me having to keep firing up the PC and makes it easy to catchup for a hobby fix when out and about)
Cheers
Pete
Looks good so far 🙂 I didn’t quite understand how units are “killed” from reading the rules, so I’m looking forward to finding out how it works after some fancy shootin’! From what I read in the rules, it seems like you’re shooting at the unit to make it lose it’s nerve and run away, unless I missed something, (I’ve only read through it once :P) I don’t mind being corrected! Like an ork, when I shoot sumfin, I wants it ded!
The flowplayer worked fine for me, but as I sometimes download videos using RealPlayer, flowplayer didn’t allow me to do this, where as the previous player did (as well as youtube).
As for HD/SD, well I usually watch stuff on youtube at 480p on a 22″ HD TV connected to my laptop with no problems and the miniatures detail shows up well too, so I’m just hoping that whatever the replacement video player is, I can download vids with RealPlayer with it (handy when there’s videos in several parts like painting vids or recording the Turn 8 vids to watch later on).
looked forward to watching this all day but gave up after 2 min and to be honest im not impressed by the look of the game. Seems like they have tried to overcome the 40k problem of overlapping units by bringing the troops closer together and I will have to agree with John in that this would be better in a smaller scale (40k always seemed more suited to 15mm rather than 28).
Updated the player in backstage now. We still have some tweaks to make but would welcome feedback guys!
that ran perfect no lag at all, thanks for the fix, well worth the price of a pint somewhere between Belfast and Dublin.
two hiccups at the start but then ran smooth.
Hi Warren,
Just to let you know upgrade of player now plays fine on iPad but for some reason even though I can send vid (picture) and sound to apple tv from vids on main site form iPad and iPhone in backstage only sends the sound. Not a biggie or affecting many people I guess but thought i’d let you know as you requested feedback. Is there a reason the players are different from main site and backstage?
Pete
We’ll continue to tweak this until we get it fixed. (Trying to get the main issues sorted first 🙂 …)
The reason we use a different player is that we wanted to make it advert free for backstagers. But it will take some time and tweaking to get all the issues ironed out!
We don’t have an apple TV here to test that, but i’ll get my thinking cap on 😉
Much better now!
Gotta say I did not like the ‘be in 5” of the commander’ seems to be quite a small distance so everything looks ‘bunched up’, but hey there alpha stage atm.
Vid is working very well now. Good job fixing that up!
i like the bunched up unit idea, it stops people daisy chaining in objective games. one unit takes one objective. i’ve always enjoyed full army games in 28mm too. we play warpath with lotsa terrain. closer to city fight than whats in the vid. that really stops it feeling like KOW in space. much more fun.
tried watching this at 9.25pm australian sydney time, right after watching the finecast review video, and for some reason this is still jittery and laggy… was there any maintenance happening around that time? cant explain it, i tried running speed tests online and always minimum download speed registered as 650KB/s (kilo-bytes, not bits)… hmmm…
anyone else from Australia having probs viewing these smoothly? (without pausing and walking off to come back to a buffered vid?)
all fixed, big cheers to the BoW team for the quick fix!
we really appreciate your efforts guys..
Vid didn’t used to work but now it does.. Thanks!
not luck getting this to work in Australia either. Any ETA on another player?
