TURN 8: The one with Necrons, Accusations and Cool Stuff… Part 1
October 20, 2011 by beerogre
So there we go... tonight we discussed Necrons, various unfounded accusations and plenty of other cool stuff to take our minds off it.
If you have any thoughts on the things we discussed tonight then please post a comment below and if you have any suggestions about how you would like us to improve our forums then post here or on the forum thread.

I dont suppose there ever is the chance of turn 8 going back to 8 o clock?
Yay turn 8.
Skyplussed t steps reunion so the wifes occupied, meaning a peaceful night in front of the computer.
So, my question to you guys, does the Necron stuff give an indication to where 6th edition is going? Its highly likely it was written in tandem with the new ruleset , as much as the inevitable space marine one that will release with 6th has been.
Not about tonight – but it would be great to hear news you have on the new Vampire Counts?…
Looking forward to it, so 11 sharp? 😉
Cant wait guys. This would have been the perfect week to test out live call-ins. You could have invited a few internet gaming personalities on the show and asked them to explain their recent allegations. Either way, this should be a good show….I expect there will be some pretty heavy traffic….
Recent allegations?
From the description at the top of the page…. “It’s been an eventful week, we’ve seen Necrons… and we’ve seen accusations and speculation spattered across the internet until it resembles a toilet bowl after a good night on the scrumpy!”
There is a thread here…..but it’s probably best to just wait till tonight to find out more.

I apprecaite it bumps the americans and Ozzies and I know it’s horribly selfish but it couldn’t be earlier, could it? I’ve got to go to work tomorrow!
So do we! 😉
I have welsh rugby, jon interview and essen to keep up with!!!
Also starting at 8 means we can drink more beer 😉
ok so whose this jon then?
Skullvane Manse: Lair Of The Astromancer – discuss..
Will questions be submitted through twitter again or the new chat function?
@wildchevy … that sounds like a technical question… @warzan !!!
Your attention is required!
@beerogre Dont summon him while he’s doing “paperwork” in the men’s room. No good would come from it.
Twitter for questions
dont like the new bow chat…bring back the old one
On time warren?….lol
All seems like grumbling for nothing really lol. Was nice seeing the pictures and the blog posts listed didn’t seem to have much of a point. Can’t wait for the show tonight, shall be following/viewing as always.
Why can’t this be ios friendly format…??
I want to watch this on my ipad
BOW , I’m an american from New York . Dude you guys are awesome and i feel so sorry for spiky bits I think he is a bit delusional . keep it up , my friends and i thank god you all are around . so stay with it and keep it up .
Keep on doing what you do BoW. The guys over at Spikey Bits are delusional. Me and my gaming group went ga ga over the leak and I can’t wait to get my greedy mits on those Metal Zombies o’ Doom. Love what you guys do for the hobby.
I almost chocked on my breakfast After watching the Necron celebration. Srsly guys… I haven’t laughed that much in such a long time. Srsly guys… The BEST! 10/10 guys. PUT THAT NECRON DANCE ON YOUTUBE!!!!!
agreed. Luckily I had just come from the bathroom before watching or who knows what would’ve happened. Makes me wish I had a dog to blame it on… just in case.
Keep on doing what you do. You’ve given me an exit from the GW tunnel (vision) I was in for years and exposed me to alot of games I didn’t know existed and have almost single handedly returned me to wargaming on a weekly basis through your channel.
Oh and btw: I like the old set up better with the recliners etc.
Warren’s beer looks like a NecroSOYLENTGREENrod. Nice touch. The new table looks like a mac, but doesn’t hide your legs. I can see your legs jumping with pleasure at certain minis or just bobbing up and down. The table does let you display more and perhaps show more, but it’s less homey feeling, and therefore, I’d chime in for the old set.
Finally getting to watch the show….
Wow…..ridiculous accusations.
BoW keep up the good work!
Great show, guys.
Great show again. Loved the vibe towards the end, chilled and hillarious, after that spikey twit had been well and truely powned! Keep it up guys.
Another cracking evening of games related nonsense. I’ve always dreamt of a world where gaming received the same media attention as football. Turn 8 is a big step in the right direction. 🙂
The new layout really works well imo. Not as cosy as before but having everyone around the table kept everyone involved throughout the show.
Keep up the great work 🙂
Awesome show again guys 🙂 Some people just want to be a bunch of old misery guts and you’ve risen above them like champeeeeons lol 🙂 To crap on the stuff you do is a piss-poor way to treat a bunch of guys trying to show us all the new stuff to do with games and miniatures and tell us about games we’d never have heard of before, if it weren’t for this site.
To me, BoW is like watching a Christmas special of your favourite TV show, every week, and just keeps getting better and better… so far lol 😉
And for someone like me who’s got back into all this stuff after ten years or so, it’s great to see what’s going on, and make new friends from it as well.
Some people are just never happy and like to find fault in everything, and they’re the ones who lose out in the end.
So there, lol 😛
I freaking want Necrons! And if I get some, I’ll use blue/purple paint instead of green, to make them even more like terminators, with glowing red eyes too! Or not, yay! Lol, Necrons for Christmas I think, always the cheaper option 😀
Lots of smilies there 🙂 I should paste in a pic of me grinning like a loon and be done with it, lol.
Dear Warren and BoW staff and Crew,
I wanted to say I felt your response to ‘Spiky Bits’ personal attacks to your Club and Business were more professional then I think I would have been in your position. You took an attack from some nameless face behind a computer screen and responded in a very frank and professional manner. I do not know that his rambling and baseless conjecture even deserved a response, but you handled yourself very well. I am proud to call myself a fan of yours and if I ever make it across the pond I will have to look you up!
Yours Truely,
EvilEd209
p.s. I also write for BoLS and while my main focus is 40K Podcasting, I can tell you his thoughts are not shared by myself. You did the 40K hobby enthusiast a huge favor with those leaks! Thank you.
Well I ran into Bols peddlers or what have you, here months ago. It was obvious atleast to me that people were not only angry but extremely selfish. In reference to the success that Beasts of war was having despite the loss of content and other struggles as well. John going to school, and that alone is like trying to be Sammy Hagar then taking the place of David Lee Roth in Van Halen.
In my opinion,
I noticed people attacking anyone that was excited about the rise of this really cool little cyber hang out. Then the attacks once subsided was meant with you need to go to BoLs.
To get the correct answer
I tried to point this out several times but no one listened then I got pissed at BOW themselves for not taking notice and lashed out a bit probably not wise on my part.
However with the level of yellow journalism produced by Bols, and shared on this turn 8….
was bound to happen
I really tried to point out something was wrong with certain ppl here…
I will go back to being just a spectator but only after stating with the eyes of the world watching(Internet), ignorance like attacking people for just doing a really good job and providing a positive impact for the hobby and those who embrace it.
Whats wrong with supporting outfits like this or BOW supporting Wayland or anyone else for that matter.
Its healthy for game makers and distributors to smash it up for a bit, this is a great octagon for that kind of action 🙂
We should want that kind of action to increase quality and drop prices.
Anyway, those people who lash out hurt the hobby as a whole
I’ll go back to just watching thanx for reading my rant
Hey BoW staff
I do applaud your professionalism in your response to “Spiky Bits”. On the other hand I am not in the video making business and I do not have to be professional so here is my rebuttal . ” Spiky bits You spew so much drivel it looks like you have sh!te your diaper and its starting to come out of your mouth. If you are too ignorant to be able to figure out a simple time conversion from GMT then why should I believe you are a reliable or credible source of information? Guess you are just another faceless internet troller trying to make a name for yourself with your self indulgent blog.
This must be the same chap who proclaimed how damaging the leak was to retailers on Dakka. He was blaming BoW for ruining his toyshop
I simply don’t follow his line of argument.
First of all BoW is reporting on gaming news. It is what they do here.
Who in their right mind would not go public with the gaming scoop of the year?
Would a newspaper or TV show given an equivalent leak just sit on it and keep zip?
As for hurting retailers I have not a clue how that is supposed to work despite the several posts he made. Maybe it is just me being thick.
But the real problem is GW’s secrecy policy. It just does not make sense to me.
During the run up to the Dread Fleet release the retailers on Dakka were reporting some problems with the way releases are handled. I even heard of GW employees being urged to buy a set and loan it for demos. The problem being that stores were not allowed to pre assemble and paint the ships for the opening. No idea how true this is but it seems plausible given the constraints.
As ever I am at a loss as to understand the policy. This is not GW “Hater gonna hate” it is just common sense.
If GW don’t want leaks and wish to retain control of publicity they should just issue news updates like everyone else.
Look at the buzz caused, why are they so worried about generating the interest?
Sorry Spikey old chap, it ain’t BoW’s fault, but GW is to blame,
and am sure your store will be fine.
Great show guys! Keep up the good work and don’t let the naysayers get to you. It is obvious to anyone that spends time on your site that it is put together by people who care. You have fans all over the world and provide a great service to the hobby! There is lots of room for everyone who wants to be a part of this community.
The following is my personal philosophy so please feel free to gloss over. I spend much time on many other like minded sites, (especially my Canadian compatriots MiniWarGaming) and of course Boardgamegeek). I also spread the dollars I spend on the hobby to support all but I do especially like to support independents. Saying this I also give due credit to the big guys like GW who do some tremendous work. My local GW employees some great young enthusiasts and I am happy to keep a outlet in my community. Most of my dollar goes to my local independent who provide an excellent service, (Sentry Box – Calgary). When I travel, fairly often, I am always sure to check out the local stores. I probably only spend about 25% on the net preferring face to face customer service and local gaming tables, (there is no better way to try new games, especially for my two fickle grandsons)! i am very proud to show them our world where they can use some brain capacity for I do believe it is more than just toy soldiers we are playing with.
So after all that I applaud the great service BOW provides and especially as a forum for all the other contributors. It is great to be part of the much larger community.
Play on!!!
Necron’s don’t speak – they scream in a daemonic machine voice :

(warning : not meant for weak human ears)
Ha! unutterably awesome dude 🙂
Necrons would totally throw shapes to that 🙂
Thanks, I actually created that music-genre after seeing the necron codex cover back in 2002 and wondering what their voices and soundtrack would be like. I’m such a nerd lol
All this drama is beyond lame – reeks of jealousy and bitter resentment to me. If these dudes want to “stick it to the man” then how about bashing some of GW’s business techniques?
If anything BoW is exactly what is needed. They champion the “little guy”, and I can’t tell you how many games I would never of heard of and supported if it wasnt for BoW talking about them – and with them getting a TV show, this gives even more promotion to the smaller companies. Hardly evil lol
Besides, the reason BoW works so well is because we get caught up in their honest and genuine excitement and love for things, it rubs off on us and we get excited too – it even works on a cynical b-stard like me even!. That’s better than the fake crap on BoK and Spikeybits.
The main reason I wanted to start a retail shop is because, after coming back into the game, I found sites such as Beasts of War and Mini Wargaming and wanting to get other people playing games that I’m passionate about. The industry evolves and their will always be a place for retail stores in this industry because at the end of the day we are all materialists and everybody loves touching a physical product and its a social hobby, people will want to play with a group in a nice surrounding with like minded individuals. It’s up to retailers to move with the times if they want to compete. Make your store a place people want to go! Have a web store, have a click and collect function, run events and shout about them on the web. I’m no expert and don’t pretend to be one but at the end of the day sites like Beasts of War help to grow interest in new releases and get people interested in things they might never of considered and where will they go to try said new products? Supermarkets no longer have tins of beans behind a counters that you have to ask for like in the 40’s. Darwin at work.
p.s. good show good show
