Blizzard’s Hearthstone Has Expansion On The Way!
April 15, 2014 by brennon
Blizzard have announced the plans for their expansions to Hearthstone and so now you'll be taking on the Curse of Naxxramas for cards, cards and more cards!
Naxxrammas sees you delving into a famous dungeon from World of Warcraft and will feature a series of PvE (A.I) dungeons whereby you take on scenario based play to unlock cards and a guaranteed legendary at the end of it.
As you can see most of them follow a theme like the one above. Deathrattle has always been an interesting mechanic and certainly looks like it's going to be ramped up with this quest.
There are thirty cards in total to pick up and add to your already bursting deck of digital cards and you even get a new snazzy board to play on as well!
It will cost to get this quest expansion but it will be a one off payment so you can run the 'dungeon' as many times as you like.
Will you be getting this?

The first level of the expansion is free for all players. Subsequent levels are unlocked by payments, either in-game gold or real-money purchase. In-game gold is just a representation of time spent playing really, and real money is a shortcut. If their pricing model for booster packs is consistent with their pricing for this (and it should be or else the economy will become unbalanced quickly) you can expect to play a couple of hours to earn the equivalent of a few dollars worth of gold.
I was in the closed beta for Hearthstone, and it’s a fun game. It’s very grindy if you don’t want to spend money (and I didn’t spend a dime), but the grind itself is pretty entertaining as long as your matchups are fair. The matchmaking system was quirky though, and I didn’t always feel it was fair. Sometimes I steamrolled my opponent with obviously better cards. Sometimes they steamrolled me. It started to feel less challenging and more arbitrary. I dropped out after a month or so.
The single player expansion is something I can see myself playing in those in-between moments where you can’t really fit anything else (Hearthstone plays quickly, games don’t last hours like some games can *cough*Scrolls*cough*). It’s less frustrating to play the computer because you know in time you can beat it. Getting beat by the same batch of players who will always have more and better cards than you (because every time you catch up to them they’ve already pulled ahead) can be a real test of patience though. Blizzard is smart to provide this as an option to appeal to a larger collection of players (Blizzard has always been smart that way though).
Combine this with the soon-to-be-released iPad version, and I’ll probably be playing again soon. I might even pay a little if it doesn’t frustrate me within a month like last time.
