Fantastic!!!! I am just sitting down for a hobby session after a long hard Monday and this drops ……. I love you guys. 😀 (Haven’t watched it yet.. I’ll wait until I’m ready to paint)
Great part of the story, thanks AJ and Warren.
Okay …. Here is my take on the Primarchs and reasons how they can come back (Some of these are just postulation… and drawing a very long bow on how is it possible
1st Legion Lion El’Johnson .. I believe that he is still at the centre of the Rock either keeping Lothar as a prisoner BUT………….. what if he being kept prisoner by Lothar and the Dark Angels….. are our Penitant Questing Knights actually bad boys??
2nd Legion … choose your own ending….. sigh
3rd Legion Fulgrim Demon Primarch of Slannesh ….. Still with us if the rumours I have haerd are true the Fourth Demon Primarch to return …. BUT What if the crappy little elves …. er sorry…… The Eldar………. come through and kill “Old Sleazy” what happens to him and his Artiste legion then?
4th Legion Perturabo Demon Primarch….. Not a happy boy… but then again he never was, Still kicking. Doesn’t really like anyone. His legion I can’t come up with a BUT …. but will we see him and is legion of Super Sappers when we have a big fortress that needs cracking
5th Legion Jaghatai Khan … In the web way .. still alive. can come back. But …. wouldn’t it be cool if he returned from the webway on some giant mount that he acquired there?
He and his space Mongols would be awesome
6th Legion Lehman Russ. Off on his geat hunt and has promised to return for “the Wolf Time” to hunt with his space vikings/space Werewolves (pick the trope you prefer) again. BUT …..heh …… What if he has been changed by his geneseed and returns as a Giant Wulfen Primarch ??? (Huge space Werewolf .. think about it)
7th Legion Rogal Dorn…. after a deep strike attack went wrong he was isolated and all that was found was one of his hands presumed dead BUT …… what is he isn’t … that he staged his disappearance so he could quietly return to his father’s side. If he returned he should have an artificial fist (and suitably friggin’ huge and “imperial” one at that . If he is still alive besides the Emperor’s throne he and Big Bobby Gee would have already had a chat and come up with a plan.
8th Legion Konrad Curze …. the Nihlistic space Batman…Blew up space Gotham…. Joined his brothers that he didn’t really like, . dead… decapitated… to prove a point. BUT what if his death was staged ….. because space Batman … and no one beats Batman. If he came back what would he do ?? Join Chaos?maybe not ,,,, rejoin the Imperium? certainly not, punish everyone because the deserve it ? Possibly ….. (think the return of the Malal concept)
9th Legion Sanguinius Dead BUT he’s coming back why?? because his entire Legion are space vampires…. I am calling it now, Giant undead vampire primarch rising from the crypt on Baal
10th Legion Ferrus Manus… dead. decapitated.. head kept by Kurze for a while to torment Vulkan when he was trying (unsuccessfully) to break him. skull returned to BUT what happen to hi body? His boys are the Cyborg Legion …… what if the skull is reattached cybernetically to the Primarch’s old body? what if an AI version of Ferrus Manus was uploaded to the Primarch Servo skull that drives that body…. with two red glowing eyes ? The Gorgon indeed!!!
11th Legion … sigh .. nothing official ….. (when you finish the Horus Heresy Black Library , do the re-unification of Terra and the great Crusade …. I am just saying)
12th Legion Angron … the maimed brain damaged Primarch (poor bugger never got a chance) Demon Primarch of Khorne .. rumoured third of the demon Primarchs to be made into models. ..yeah …. But what if we got a sane Angron at some stage … bloody unlikely but it would be interesting….. sane Khan in 30k is actually quite likeable ….. always felt sorry for Angron … poor psycho b@$tard.
13th Legion Roboute Gilliman … Big Bobbie G ….. the ultimate empire builder is back and in charge of an Empire that he really doesn’t like …. and he has to fix it …. and fight off his Demon Brothers….. and deal with lots of other stuff …. probably wishes he was back in his stasis. . Returned not a lot to say .. he has to suck it up and get on with it … probably be glad to see a “nice ” brother … If he hasn’t already spoken to Rogal .
14th Legion Mortarion Demon Primarch of Nurgle on his way back as the second Demon Primarch within the next two months ….. could do with a bit more “Papa Nurgle Jolliness ” the miserable git. (No BUT he will be the third Primarch Returning)
15th Legion Magnus the Red Demon Primarch of Tzeench ..Returned with model, back on the scene getting vengence … slightly pissed. Was happy to see Gulliman return … probably has a plan in addition to his confrontation on Luna
16th Legion Horus Lupercal. Killed by his father .. body stolen from grieving Sons of Horus by the Primogenitor … then stolen back . His clones pissed off Abbadon so much that he ordered them destroyed and formed the Black Legion out of the ruins of the Sons of Horus…… BUT what if a clone survived and sans the influence of the demon that corrupted him in the first place we have loyalist Horus back again? and he dukes it out with his Son Abbadon over the skies Terra for the fate of mankind (it’s nice symetry)
17th Legion Lorgar … the whiney bitch …. meditating on the meaning of life the universe and everything in the eye of terror .(I believe he is a Demon Prmarch but I could be wrong) BUT what if he decides that his God/Daddy substitutes the Chaos Gods, Stinky, Surly, Sneaky and Sleazy, don’t love him either .. the poor babby 🙁 ….. and he finds another God substitute the C’tan for instance (or even the Old Ones) ….. we need more factions
18th Legion Vulkan (my man ) has his sons out collecting the special artifacts he forged which will signal his return……. Possibly teleporting him out of a Necron Statis chamber…… BUT as a perpetual maybe very similar to the Vulkan who left the Imperium, I believe GW is seeking to have the 40K Primarch look very different to the 30k ones…. and I don’t know what they’ll do with Vulkan (and he and Corax are my faves) … speaking of which
19th Corvus Corax…. AJ is mostly correct Corrax did have problems with the third or fourth batch of Raven Guard (after which he stopped making them) .. this wasn’t due to dirty test tubes but rather nasty Alpha Legion plants sabotaging an otherwise successful change to the Empoer’s method of producing Space Marines. Disappred.. seemingly repentant. BUT what if he returns with the knowledge that he was successful and he can generate lots of Space ninjas …. don’t know what they’ll do with model however.
20th Legion Apharius Omegron … the mystery Twin? Primarchs of the the Space Spys . Alpharius was killed by Dorn at Pluto … his brother could no longer feel their psychic bond and reluctantly decided to play Alpharius full time BUT ….. why are the two Primarch’s slightly less in stature? … Why does the Hydra have not two but three heads??? Could the two Primarchs merge into one larger Primarch ? a sum of both parts both Alpha, begining and Omega , end …… What was the Greek letter for Sum of again …. Oh that’s right SIGMA… 🙂
and that was a lot of writing for that one punchline…. Of course most of my theories are a load of bollocks but it shows if you want to, you can really do anything, you like …. Would like giant Werewolf, Vampire and Cyborg Primarchs however …. Interesting times
Thanks AJ and Warren loved the show
@beardragon14 I just wanted to say yeah your note on the how the Raven Guard got stiffed by the Alpha Legion
Okay so I want to say more than a few things but I will restrict it to two things… OHHHhhh boy do I want to say things…
Anyway Roboute Gilliman is not the good guy you that people have made him out to be, his a Tyrant in many regards, a lot of people think he was just a lesser version of Horus and not in a good way. So the Index Astartes almost started a second civil war and what really stopped it is his brothers more than him they realised holy hell his going to do it, he has more people than us, and his going to do it, his going to go to war with us for not obeying his commands…
Rogal Dorn pretty much gave in after he fired upon him…
So no I don’t see him killing his father, because it is the right thing to do but not the pragmatic thing to do, it would set so many people against him…
However.
Lion El’Johnson the OG that he is may…
So on that note of it being Luther under the rock, that may be true…
But plot twist…
It may actually be the Lion, half of his legion went traitor… which half though?
See the Lion is a BAMF when evil batman went rouge who hunted him down. A lot of people have doubts about him but his loyalty is crazy intense. Remember he comes from an order of fraternal knights. If the space marine life comes naturally to anyone it is to him. He understands the role of sacrifice, and that is why he clashes with so many of his brothers, mainly the wolf.
But my prediction if anyone is to off the Emperor it will be the Dark Angel
Oh and @warzan it will likely be 4 primarchs a side not three as that way they can repesent all of the chaos factions unless they are killing off Slannesh like they have in Warhammer (or locking up or whatever)
I thought that they mention a few things about Roboute (how he got injured and where he got the sword) in the white dwarf of march.
A couple of points:
Guilliman had the sword when he was put in stasis. He was around for a while post heresy and was given the sword as part of his role as lord commander of the imperium.
The Carcharodons could have been formed from part of the Raven Guard that Corax exiled from the legion when he was reunited.
We know that Luther is in the Rock and imprisoned. Only the Grand Master of the Dark Angels knows this. No one in the chapter knows that Lion El Johnson is also alive, only the watchers in dark. He’s currently kept in stasis in the middle of the rock and is unaccessible…for the moment. From reading the dark angels books in 30k and 40K it seems pretty clear that the loyalists are the ones who make up the current chapter and the traitors were scattered. I recommend reading the novel Unforgiven for information on how this happened.
Horus’ soul was annihilated by the Emperor. Abaddon fought to his body after the emperor was evacuated by Rogal Dorn. It was then taken to the Eye of Terror to a planet called Monument. Fabius bile and the Emperors Children took the body after the rest of the traitor legions turned on the sons of horus and cloned it. Abaddon as part of the nascent Black Legion assaulted and killed the clone of horus and destroyed the body. Whether there were any samples left over anywhere we don’t know but frankly Horus coming back again would be really boring.
I disagree about Lorgar. His whole story is finding his true fathers, he is the favoured son of Chaos and the first to turn. I really don’t think he would regret his actions again, he went through those feelings at the drop site massacre and emerged the other side as a true fanatic and found his psychic might. What is more likely is he is so immersed in the Great Game of the gods that he doesn’t think about mortals anymore.
We absolutely definitely know that Alpharius is dead. John French has said on a few occasions that yes he really was killed by Dorn. However we don’t know about Omegon and Guilliman as it was only based on a report by third party so possibly!
Loving the show, keep it up guys!
really looking forward to see what happens.
Vulcan really should be dead though. being stabbed with some artifact spear that can actually kill him. Happens in The unremembered empire. who knows what GW will do though 🙂
I expect Leman Russ, Conrad and Lion to return, Not sure about the rest of the loyalist primarchs.
As for the other side, I guess most of them could return in some demonic form. 3 of them was in Epic as demons, if I remember it right anyway.. was a long time ago 😉
Read the novel Deathfire…
great video @warzan & @AJ some great story selections another to consider is what if the emperor was further down the web way plan than was stated and the second & eleventh chapters are trapped/fighting their until relisted by the imperial forces.
Hmmm… I’m not sure if Corvus Corax will come back… Shrike just got promoted as chapter master during the campaign against the Tau empire (Kau’yon and Mont’ka). Although it is my favorite Space Marine chapter, I think they should keep their mysterious aura.
If we get 3 (more each side) and ignore the plausibility of their return, which ones would sell the most models????
For me it would be:
Loyalists – Emperor, Sanguinius, Leman Russ
Renegade – Horus, Anger-on, Fulgrim.
In terms of other models, Malchador, Garro would also be popular,
Interesting models to add might be:
Euphrati Keeler(perhaps as a Sister of Silence, or living saint)
The Beast Ork Warboss from M32
Solun Dessius
Characters for Sisters of Silence and Legio Custodes, maybe Amendera Kendel, Kavalanera Brassanas.
I feel like Lion will almost certainly be back. Cypher is holding Lion’s sword on his back. Cypher wanted access to the emperor’s throne room in exchange for freeing Guilliman from the blackstone fortress, but Guilliman denied him access later on when they reached Terra stating that he knows the owner of that weapon and that he’d never let him anywhere near the Emperor and there’s a real feeling that Guilliman knows something very bad about Lion’el. I think they will play off the Lion = Traitor storyline in which he purposely held his army back to see who would be the victor of the Horus Heresy before declaring a side.
As for who will return-
Imperium = Guilliman/Lion/Russ
Chaos = Magnus/Fulgrim/Mortarion.
Recently we’ve had the new plague marines reveal video come out and they show a giant scythe at the end which is almost definitely Mortarions, so I expect we’ll see the miniature very soon. Plus we have the Fulgrim tricking Guilliman and playing off his fears/speaking to him subplot throughout the new book.
Hope it is in the black armour if it is the lion, though Deathwing white would be cool too
About time they moved the story forward. Been there since Rogue Trader and nice to see them finally telling a tale.
Apart from Gaunt’s Ghosts… there’s always Gaunt’s Ghosts.
Great vid guys! Some great input from all in the comments too!
Im super excited with how the whole thing in 40K right now, its a great time to be involved with the hobby!
Would love to see Russ and the Lion back, not to bothered about the chaos side!
Interesting overview of what might happen, but I’m missing the pictures in the background. For most primarchs even if they don’t have a model (yet) there is some artwork somewhere available?
@warzan The constraint that the story must be “contained” isn’t much of a restriction, when you consider that the Horus Heresy books number up in the high thirties the last time I took notice of them.
My personal bet is that Alpharius will step out from behind the Golden Throne when the protagonist walks in. I can picture the scene
[A hooded servant/monk in full cassock steps out from behind concealment]
SERVANT: “Look Dad, someone has come to visit you. How nice.”
[SERVANT lowers hood, revealing ALPHARIUS]
PROTAGONIST: “You!? But you’re dead! I saw you die.”
ALPHARIUS: “Yeah, I get that a lot.”
Well we “all but” know Mortarion is the next primarch coming back as GW have released the teaser trailers for the Death Guard, and the giant scythe at the end of the video bears a striking resemblance to the FW model.
Ref Alpharius/Omegon dying – Alpharius was known to have said only his brothers could recognise him, so pretty clear indication that if Dorn/Guilliman killed them then they knew it was them.
Ref Raven Guard – Read Deliverance Lost (If you haven’t spoilers ahead and scroll past the next paragraph quickly!)
SPOILERS!!
I warned you….. 😉
Corax’s attempt to rebuilt the legion were scuppered by the Alpha Legion who infected the geneseed with a warp flask, leading to the creation of the Raptors (not the Chaos ones). They began to mutate as they developed into marines leading to wulfen/gol-vorbak-like beings (without the daemonic part). Whilst degenerate marines they were still effective in combat and were formed into their own company (albeit hidden from view of outsiders)
