Love that sub! Had a good look at it when I was over for the boot camp. Its gorgeous, in an orky way, but still gorgeous lol
You should see it now all the welding lines are complete – I’m glad I forced @johnlyons to do that 😉 lol
I agree with you @warzan! You can really relax and let your inspiration guide you when you’re doing orky stuff. I just can’t stop collecting/converting/kit-bashing/building/painting models for my Waaagh!
Have fun with the Red Orktobah! I’ll make sure to follow your 40k adventures.
Ok! Your 40k setting is getting more and more interesting Warren!
And Can’t wait for the Warzone show!
Guys, Warzone have Dieselpunk elements as well! So maybe a mix of gothic armoured cathedral and a huge diesel generator? 🙂
More Dakka?! That’s why I LOVED Gorkamorka. You were laughed at if you “only” got a stock version of the vehicles. It must be customized.
Warren, you face is just to funny on the video preview.
Thanks a lot for share this kind of stuff 🙂
Flames of War Bootcamp… bit of an accidental announcement
Awesome vlog. Love the Sub so far and can’t wait to see it painted up. 🙂
I do have to say though. Interesting close up of Justins crotch. Lol
It’s disappointing to see BoW stoop to gratuitous sexual content to get more viewers lol
Couldn’t you just use a sewing pin to pin the fields to the mat? Hide them in the shrubs and it ought to be rather unlikely that someone would end up poking themselves.
What was the base sub made from? Anyways, love Red Orktober, will the orks be a blue-green amphibious sea-ork variant?
Nice slip there @warzan so the thrid bootcamp is going to be flames of war 🙂
Get some bocage in there 🙂
great VLOG guys love the models your all doing.
Cool sub, but really would do the base before painting…but that’s just how I do all my naval stuff:-)
WARZONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes! now bootcamp!
Lots of stuff going on How many Snow speeders do you guys have ? I could be up for a Flames of war Bootcamp should have some money by the time it comes around also i cant find you guys on the salute list I’m just trying to plan what I’m going to do for the day and just cant find you on the list.
That submarine looks awesome. Great work guys. Can’t wait to follow the series.
Looking forward to Warzone! Make the board an entrance to a Dark Legion Citadell.
Here is some buildings from Pegasus models in 28mm scale that might work for your trench table.

I hope it helps!
Exceptional work on the sub Warren, cant wait for the finished product and the 40k battle reports to follow.
Okay wow, so much awesome in that video!
First up, John the AT-ATs and AT-STs are spot on. If you felt like painstakingly moving each model a few millimetres at a time you could totally film a short sequence and with Lloyd playing with the lighting and some blaster effects it could be slotted into the battle of Hoth sequence from ESB and I don’t think anyone would notice.
Warren, that sub is fricking cool. You have added enough bits to push it over the ‘Is that a GW kit?’ threshold.. which is to say, it no longer looms like a sub with bits stuck on to it, but something with a uniform (as much as Orks do uniform) appearance that it looks like on big kit.
On the generators, thanks for ID’ing the manufacturer because I wasn’t sure if it was the product from MAS or Secret Weapon. I think three hubs.. four.. three plus a smaller hub.. it doesn’t matter. It’s instantly recognisable and that’s what counts 😀
Finally, the iconic concept for Warzone is a bunch of Doomtroopers (Mitch, Max, Valerie and co) breaching one of the Dark Legion citadels so that they can slaughter a thousand necromutants and kill the boss..err.. Nepharite.. in the heart of the structure and since it is the dubious honour of the PBI to man the perimeter around the citadel to keep the Dark Legion forces ‘contained’ it is the perfect board for that.
Those AT-STs were trembling with anticipation. Or perhaps fear.
Hay all if you need help building trees hobby lab style and we can work out a way to get the bits to me and trees to you even if it’s a salute drop off give us a shout
On the cathedral front form core, a rabbit taler, pva glue, some pins and some card and it could look epic and huge
O and how high you need the trees
The Villainous SkullMaster – Orkoh Reamius – Captain of the Red Orktober
For the Warzone maybe you should focus on Bauhaus aesthetic that is not Gothic but rather more industrial and with a lot more easy but solid terrain, maybe using Deadzone terrain and add some volume to break up the box-feel of it.
Trees… always an issue in my club.
Can a single tree be used in wargaming? Other than line-of-site blocking (which is often debatable/hard to define) or cosmetics a single tree is tricky.
We almost always define it as a wood or forest, which is area terrain. Therefore we use a template to depict the ‘wooded’ area and then put trees within it. This allows us to move the trees to allow units in, without having to worry about LOS etc. Currently we use random blob shapes, made from 2mm MDF and then flocked, with a few trees on. Occasionally we’ve also used the cardboard 2D tree terrain from the Flames Of War starter set as a template, on which we’ve put a few trees. If your unit is within this template they are in cover.
I’ve recently purchased a lot of these: http://www.4ground.co.uk/Default.aspx?page=268&pid=307, for the club I host. With these (and some extra 60mm bases, also from 4Ground) I hope to soon create area templates for woods. The template will remain the same, regardless of scale, while I based some 28mm appropriate trees on 60mm bases, some 15mm appropriate trees on others and even some 6mm appropriate trees on others, all of which can be used, as required, on the ‘area’ template.
It doesn’t look quite as good as scattered trees, particularly in hedgerows, but keeps it simple during games.
It’s not the best solution and doesn’t look as pretty but has stopped numerous arguments.
PS: Best Vlog yet guys.
I tried to take a few pictures of my Orc torpedo boat, the BisMork, made for a Morheim based pirate game. The photos were crap thanks to me being a little drunk and my camera phone being dodgy… (bad workman).
Basically it’s made from balsa wood and a 40K battlewagon. It’s main features include a big paddle wheel at the back, a catapult which can fire doom-divers and, my favourite, a Squig torpedo launcher.
Really looking forward to seeing the Red Orktober launching ceremony… will the Queen be smashing a bottle of champagne across her bows? Or will it be Justin, in a wig, with a bottle of cider?
gutted been wanting you guys to get prodos on here but was hoping it would be avp the tabletop game
Awesome Vlog as always.
warzone week, warzone week warzone week
On the subject of trees giving cover to tanks for the Bolt Action bootcamp. Have you considered Instead adding the printable ruins from Dave Gratham Models (Downloadable backstage) By putting these on the adjacent four tables in the closest corners of the four tables when all the tables are viewed it would appear as a ruined village. The Bolt action ruins density on the remaining tables would then go up providing more cover. My other cheep solution would be to make some of youe hedges into boccage by placing cork walling beneath some of them. In a book on the 5th RTR that I have been reading commanders in their tanks had difficulty seeing over the boccage. If you had a few tables with boccage you could restrict it to an area when viewing all the tables. Again with the boccage providing cover for tanks the large trees would not be needed, so the could be used on other tables. On another note Dave Gratham does a nice cottage with interior detail and warehouse which could be used as an undamaged farm. these both have interior detail for when you put troops inside. As an added incentive to people changing to bachstage you already have these Ruins free to backstagers.
Hope this helps
andrew
That’s a bloody big roll of static grass, cracking vlog gents
What are the clamps used on the At-Ats
I think Warren spilled some beans there. Although the real question is not IF there will be a FoW Bootcamp, but WHEN there will be a FoW Bootcamp.
@warzan, @lloyd : You might solve the obscuring terrain issue for the Bolt Action tables with some homemade ruins. Thick cardboard and textured wallpaper should do the trick. I’ve been working on a Mordheim village using that technique. If you’d like I could send you some pictures of the work in progress.
Having played a few games of Bolt Action in the last few weeks with no trees on the table (only buildings and hedges) and getting shot to bits, I can safely say MOOOOOOOAAAAARRRRRR TRRREEEEEEEEESSSS!!! 😀
@warzan really like the Ork sub, I’ve been thinking of doing a Grot/Gretchin patrol boat. I like the idea of the Gretchin racing down a river, in a boat that looks similar to the US river patrol boats used in Vietnam.
@warzan
Absolutely loving the RedOrktober!
So are you going to do a search and kill style mission and call it “The Hunt for RedOrktober”?
The Captain’s name – very important. In the original film the Captain’s name was Marco Ramius. So why not Orkify the name – Narko MaiminYous?
You need a first mate as well – in the film he was Vasily Boradin. What about Gastilly PourItIn?
