BoW Ben
lloyd needs to get a new friend lol
That looks pretty neat. Though it would take forever to beat the Necromancer with such poor rolling heroes! And I’m not sure the range ruler mechanic really seems necessary on a tile based game.
looks like a fun wee game, once the rules appear I’ll give it a bash with some confrontation tiles and random minis. Typical sibling rivalry there from Warren rushing off and leaving Lloyd, it’s giving me flashbacks to Heroquest and my younger brother taking a kicking from a room full of monsters. Nice to see the 3D terrain, I think we all suspected it would be a stretch goal in the KS, but nice to see it confirmed.
I know it must be that special magic between brothers but….. @warzan you´re a lousy team player!!!! 😀
Hammertime – NOT!
Looks like a fun game and you could see the glee in Warran’s eyes as he charged up the dungeon. The minis look great – love the zombie trolls!
Alpha rules are up!

Alpha Rules feedback thread: http://forum.manticblog.com/showthread.php?8770-Alpha-rules-feedback-Thread-Dungeon-Saga-Dwarf-King-s-Quest
Looks fairly simple to get to grips with the rules, and the painted figures look nice. Not sure if I can justify the cost now and wait (I appreciate that’s how kickstarter works I just have limited cash).
I have attempted to provide good links to Alpha rules but am awaiting moderation since their are obviously hotlinks in that post. You can head over to Jake Thornton’s blog Quirkworthy.com they are up there. Thanks to the gentleman that is hosting them and got them up in the first place!
That gentleman who got these up and hosted is Willem-Jan Bertram. Thank you sir!
I’ve now approved your comment so they will be showing down below 🙂
Mantic has taken over where GW has foolishly left off……..And the way Mantic supports its properties gives me high hopes for this Dungeon Delver. Looking forward to this.
If I recall correctly GW did not support Warhammer Quest with new products after 1 year of release. Other then some White Dwarf and Citadel Journal articles the game was unsupported. The final straw for me was when they took down the free online content for out of print specialist games last year.
Looks amazing the quality of the figures is top notch love the scenery to.
Loving the look and mechanics of the game 😀 I hope it does amazing as there is a lot of potential …….and oh my god the new minis!!!!!! Love them the sculpts are impressive
SHINEY
love how Mantic get the community involved with the development of their rules through the feedback sheet, awesome way to get the customer engaged with the product – this is a hobby after all.
Looks solid, heroes can be powerful but no overpowered, with enough of a set of threat. Healing potion mechanic might need tightening up. Will be giving them a more indepth look this weekend.
@warzan for shame sir, short of corpse hanging that was every glory hound move in one game. Would love to see you guys playing something like zombies where you are setting out to backstab – was great entertainment.
Looks good in its most basic form. Interested to see what the advanced rules do with it.
@warzan – NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY!!! 🙂
“Imap who” LOL
I really like how they are focussing on just the game this time, not being side tracked with other items that cover a broader range of games. This is going to be a really good game system and well supported.
I like the more detailed combat system that it has compared to other games but it did feel a little slow at times for this being the basic version of the game.
Wow! Thanks a lot for this. Downloading and I am gone….
cant wait to play it. this is so frigging awesome.
It’s looking pretty good so far. I had HQ for a long time with many additional scenarios from on-line fans. Interesting to see if DS might go the same way.
Good looking models as well!
First up, thanks for the video report. It’s so much easier for me to get rules into my head via actual gameplay. Thumbs up!
Although I love the idea of a dungeon crawler that’s less a boardgame like Descent than a miniatures game, I’m not quite convinced by Mantic’s approach yet. For a game focussed on fast and simple mechanics combat dragged on quite a bit – and as it turns out in the ‘boss fight’ it was merely down to lucky dice rolls. That’s a bit rough, and to be honest I wouldn’t want to play as the ‘dungeon master’ who was just there to throw a spanner in the heroes’ works. Might be that Curis deliberately withheld the more devastating skills, but as it stands there was much hassle to little effect on his side.
Funny, though, that all this additional material got revealed way ahead of the KS. I wonder why Mantic’s not shown it there in the first place. Because one can only hope that, for example, the furniture or at least some pieces thereof make it into the KS and possibly the retail version. That would be a rather unique selling point me thinks. I for one would definitely be drawn in by such addons – as long as the rules get a reshape, too, that is.
If there are things that don’t work for you then the advantage of getting involved now is the rules are still a long long way from being finished, and your playtesting will help them evolve.
True. But I’d rather buy into a finished product to my liking instead of investing time and money hoping to change it that way beforehand. At this point – to appeal to just me and judging only from this first impression! – the game would need a general overhaul, from dice mechanics to rethinking the co-op mode and so forth. However, I see most people are happy with its current stage and, unfortunately, I’m a lazy customer, not a wannabe game developer.
No harm in that @sirgodefroy! 🙂
Not really sold on those rules. I know they’re very similar to DKH but imho that’s not a good thing. Seems like a huge amount of game time is spent comparing dice rolls. Any way to speed that up would improve the game a lot. I get that it is very much the way Heroquest worked in that you compare dice rolls (this uses numbers where HQ used special icons on the dice) but seems a lot more clunky than HQ did. Also, how will character progression work? If it’s adding more and more dice to your pool that is going to get annoying quickly.
Also, don’t like that the potions can just be thrown around. What’s the point in the wizard having it (for example) when the others can just drink it anyway? Should have to hand it over or maybe change to a healing scroll that the wizard can cast on another player (or himself) once per game.
Seems like I’m sounding pretty negative about the game but I’ll probably pick up a copy as I love dungeon crawlers and just want it to be as good as it can possibly be.
Then get thee to the feedback form 🙂
Game looks good, nice play through and can’t wait until we unlock the 3D furniture.
Proves what we all know @warzan is not aware of what the phase co-operative game means @lloyd can you not disown him 😛
I like the basic concept of this.
Here are some suggestions just from the video..
I agree with Lunchbox, and others. The healing potion is too precious to be lobbed about randomly.IMO.
I would limit the use of the healing potion ,(or scroll , ) to the owner or friendly models adjacent to the owner .
I am also slightly put of by the roll once read twice damage mechanic.
Is it only me that thinks the armour value is a bit superfluous?
Whats wrong with just using attack dice and defend dice?
So models that are harder to hurt just roll more defend dice?
EG the defend dice parry/block attacks if they roll equal or higher than the attack dice values.
Also special dice with symbols on are much easier to read /intuitive to use than dots on a standard D6.(Especially for those players with limited vision,)
(This could allow critical strike /bash special attack /defend results, in addition to the normal strike/block results.)
Oh dear I am getting carried away again…(Ill go off and play test some ideas…)
This one is not for me. Wasn’t convinced before and got no good vibe from this demo. Relying on fixed scenarios to provide balance doesn’t sit well and the demo didn’t look that balanced with too much seemingly down to pure luck. I know the rules are alpha, but they felt basic and clunky. I like lots of Mantic stuff and wish them the best with it, but will sit this one out.
I really enjoyed watching the video, it was very informative and giving me good info to decide fi I am going to make a pledge. I know some didn’t like the dice reading, but for me who sometimes can get confused with all the dice rolls, and modifiers – I loved it. Simple and easy. Really liked the larger mini’s. Now going off to read the Alpha rules. – Warren – you remind me of my son…he always leaves me alone to fight the baddies! lol Poor Lloyd 😛
Has a year passed yet? I want this!
Great Value, but will still have to wait a year for it
The rules for combat don’t look any different than the original DKH. I like the feats and magic spells, but I’m not sure there’s enough new here. I do like the look of some of the new figures though.
