hmm, it looks pretty strange. I don’t really like the look of it. It looks like that necron lord is some sort of preacher, and I still have to get used to that necrons speak now. I can’t get really excited for this model.
Don’t care if the canon says they speak, as far as I’m concerned, they don’t. They don’t speak when I’m fielding them, they don’t speak at all.
I imagine the C’Tan speaking, but the silence of the ‘crons is one of the things that attracted me to them.
I simply refuse to accept that they speak.
Ramen, brother. Also, apparently in the new Black Library book they cry out in pain when shot/phasing out. Fail.
I thought it was only one novel that claimed they could speak etc?
“Come with me if you want to die!” Wait…that’s not right 😉
What your looking at above is called the Necron Command Barge 😉
BTW DO WANT!!!! 😉
Hmmm Christmas presents for family and friends or New Necrons, oh well the presents can wait till next year 😉
So the rumours are true….personally it looks awful but no doubt thats because is so full of cheese
@trebormills Well its going to be another Matt Ward codex after all so plenty of cheese can be expected.
meh
hmmmmm
So, its probably just me (again) , but does anyone else get a ‘flintstones’ vibe to it with the two poor we robots feet dangling down there.
I know they are supposedly ancient beings, but modelling your transport on Fred and Barneys favourite transport is taking it a bit too far in my book,
That thing’s a floating Freeeem! factory! Awesome
I know a lot of happy campers that will be thrilled to see this.
Very much like the war scythe.
Aha! nice
I dont know, i really don’t know what i think about this
I want I want I want I want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It looks cool, like a master hovering over his legion as they walk to battle.
😀
did GW send you these pics before they announce them themselves? or is this a leak?
Looks good to me. And by good I mean: I reckon I could knock off the Necrons, add some DeffKopta blades and some Ork Boyz and make it look pretty spiffy.
Looks more stupid then the stormraven!
I’ll apologise in advance.
I want to have it’s babies. I’m on holiday that week, so will be nipping off to get the codex and, if one comes out, a battle force. Might be tricky as I’ve promised myself to finish the imperial guard first. And a day later Hordes Domination!
jiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiz
“in my pants”
Looks good enough, i mean I assume it’s meant to serve a tactical purpose rather than be tank etc, so this I would have thought is how a Necron command barge would look like.
But I thought Necrons were robots!? Why do they need to have a desktop interface to a piece of technology !!
This would make great news for On The Table…
I sort of like it, but I simply don’t see why Necrons should need pilots pressing buttons… Why can’t they be a part of the machine (like the destructor)?
Fortunately it looks as if you could easily ignore the pilots and leave them in the box. Without them the modell would actually look pretty cool.
to be fair I’m *guessing* they’re not pilots. Possibly they are “tactical officers” or some such, gathering information. Are the Nercons a collective, like the Borg?
I couldn’t agree more.
The model would look sweet without the two button-mashing henchmen.
They are playing Space Marine on X-BOX, obviously…
DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUN, 5th Edition codex finally.
Now do Tau >:U
Just in time for 6th Ed. 40k!! Yay!! >.<
looks like the bastard love child of the old necron models and the new dark eldar
Dark Eldar are the trend setting stylists of the 40K universe.
Now all their neighbours are twitching the curtains
OO Look here ducks, the Dark Eldars ‘ave got themselves a new car, so they ‘ave!
hmmm looks nice
Nice bit of turquoise trimmin’ in them edges I must say!
May be we should get uselves summat like that dear?
In the grimdark of the 41st millenium, there was only Corrie!
LOL
Good God that things seriously F*****g ugly.
And not in the good way.
Looks ok, kinda wierd, but necrons are wierd so.
You can see why GW hide new releases nowadays. people screaming before they see it in the flesh so to speak.
Erm … they don’t hide them. They leak them.
They really needed to make the “pilots” part of the actual craft ala destroyers, this looks like two henchmen pedalling a rickshaw for the necron lord who’s shouting “faster fools they’re getting away!”
If they where integrated into the vehicle, they’d be under the ‘Destroyer Curse’. (It’s detailed in Fall Of Damnos, which is apparently inspired by the new Codex.)
That made me lough real hard! 🙂 It’s even funnier when you think they don’t talk, so all the lord can do is hysterically wave the wand and poke the other two in their heads …
I get the feeling this is actualy a converted model.
@detonator … do you indeed! 🙂
More images on the way soon… keep refreshing the page!
I say I wish is was converted. Then I can just laugh it off and say its a joke or a somewhat OK mash up of a mad mans idea of what it should look like.
Why the legs…
It would be fine if two things were changed.
1. Cut the freaking legs off of the 2 front dudes, and loose the stupid amusement park step-thing holding them up. Add a bunch of tiny wires going from the machine to the rib-cage.
2. Change the consoles from push-button keyboards to metal slabs and/or clear spheroids (with green lightning inside) that you touch and think of killing your enemies.
The Necron Lord should be the only one to be able to dismount from this contraption.
Fantastic! Thanks, again, BoW! It’s about time to see some Necron love oozing from GW! Reckon we’ll get a new codex or will it be like the Sisters of Battle and be published in White Dwarf??? I’d rather the codex but right now, I’m lovin’ me some Necronage!!! I see conversion potential, woot! Now, if only we can convince GW to create a biomechanical sharkasorous for Wayne, it would be sweet!!! (Hint, hint, nudge, nudge you custom sculptors out there!)
I haven’t played 40k since third ed, but this thing stirs my interest. Not entirely sure about the seating arrangements on that thing, but I do like it. For some reason it reminds me of a cylon fighter from the first series where there were three pilots.
AWESOME CAN’T WAIT EVEN MORE NOW!!!!!
OK, since when do Necrons talk?
And that thing has too much emotion in it to be Necron. Agree with an earlier statement that the Lord looks more to be pontificating than anything else.
Fall of Damnos. Necrons will be talking a lot more now it would appear
talking about the latest fashion accessories, capes and jewelry apparently.
*zzzztt let’s invade Templar held planet. Must acquire capes*
Necrons started speaking in one of the novels if I remember right 🙂
Its alright but there’s better models in this release I think. The other model this kit makes looks better I reckon.
Actually I like it… looks like they were going for a cross between a scorpion and their BFG ships. I think it suffers from one thing though… the old school paint job and actually Necron design. The old paint job doesn’t bring out the models details enough, and the necrons themselves look a bit clunky. They should’ve done more to clean up the basic necron design. Lords and warriors and such I mean.
Necrons don’t talk. Never will (mine won’t either). Don’t have to. They are dead.
Let us argue about the facts of the fictional universe some.
I will lose the two flintstone drivers and it may make the cut? Does look like a pointy head craft…or a golden GIJOE snake guy?
A new codex? I just about fell out of the chair. Finally.
i have to say that this killed the necrons for me 🙁
apart from the immortals, most are just ridiculous (the flayed ones are terrible, and i hate the stupid hats most models have). i can accept vehicles but not apc´s. necrons are masters of space/time manipulation and of teleportation, they should not have apc´s. not to mention the new fluff q_q
at least all of this will save me a lot of money as i will not be getting any of it, possibly not even the codex. my necrons are going back into stasis for the next few millenia
The issue here is the aesthetic look they’ve gone for, which was present in the past but now is very obvious. They have a very heavy Egyptian/tomb kings look. The ghost arc is like an Egyptian boat with the “oar” affect. If you like that look then you will probs like these Nercons … but I’m too sure everybody wants the Necrons to just be a 40k version of the Tomb Kings…
I kinda like the new troops but the new vehicles just look silly,
fist we got the ark, aren’t necrons masters of teleportation? why are they using transporters?
why couldn’t they make a mobile portal? and now the yabba dabba doo! barge -.- seriously why?
Im not sure why the hate on the whole ” Tomb kings in spacccceee ” Agreed the drivers on it are kinda silly, come conversion work nedded there, But if i remember correctly the old metal necron models were like that even before the tomb kings came out( late 2nd edition if im correct). So wouldnt it be more correct to say tomb kings copied off of them?
Hmm. I have to reserve judgement until I see these in real life or we get some high res pictures up on GW’s site. They certainly look better than the current Destroyers and are more like the Destroyers from 2nd edition. But they’re a new unit, so I don’t know how they work in the game.
I get that GW was going for an egiptain look fo rthe vehicals. The Arks loof like river boats (the guns are the ares). And this barg is a stialized scorpion. But I’m sorry to say that for me is seems they tried a little too hard, and failed. Would you belive they mist it by that much.
Not such a big leak as you will see this WD from next week onwards. Given it sits around for almost a month before going out keeping such a secret was impressive. Mind you who saw Dreadfleet coming 🙂
6th Ed is not shceduled until Sep/Oct 2012 so there will be at least one or maybey two more Codex before that hits so heres hoping the new version does not make any old books obsolete.
