[Blatant copypasta]

Welcome to the third (hopefully not last) monthly painting competition (PaintComp) down here in the forums. Taking a page from @warbossd gaming club book as inspiration there will be a key word or phrase set at the start of the month and anybody who likes to participate paints something up, builds something or whatever creative outlet strikes them

Then, not later than the 25th of each month you post your results here (not in the project system!) and we all get to do a community vote on it!

There are no prizes involved, only fun! It’s not mandatory. It’s just for fun.

I’ve been away from the hobby for a while and recently took a camping holiday around many of my old haunts across Wales (in a van, not a tent – I’m not twenty any more and my ability to sleep on hardened ground left me around about the same time my youthful vigour did!). Coming back to these forums and revisiting places from twenty or thirty years ago, really got me reminiscing. I so very nearly went with “nostalgia” for this month’s theme. But so far we’ve had beach and mountains and it just feels impossible not to follow the thread. I hope at least someone recognises where we’re going with this, even if the eventual winner decides not to continue in the same vein.

Anyway, the keyword to kick off September is:

I hate painting white, but not as much as I hate extreme zoom on a white painted model.

Well I’m going to have to skip this month. I took a few days to decide what to do, then the first shop I tried to order from didn’t process the order correctly, then the second shop said they were being restocked soon and would ship then, but then the date they will get re-stocked keeps moving. Now I’m at the point I’d never get the model in time for the deadline.

Perhaps next month…

@poentje – wow, you have been busy! I thought about doing a Pratchett-style City Watch but in the end went for something quite a bit more contemporary. I hope to get it finished (or at least presentable enough) in time for the deadline which is… holy crap, Thursday?!

So far we’ve only two entries (three if I get mine done and in on time).
Let’s hope there are plenty of “lurkers” out there, all waiting to pile in at the last minute….

@brennon – you said you were playing this month?
Anyone else yet to declare?

Good to see the entries coming in. I have had a bit of a spanner in the works as my shield transfers won’t be here until tomorrow afternoon. Should still get them done and photographed at some point on Thursday morning.
