### Start of shameless copy and paste ###
First time visitor to OTT? Then please introduce yourself in the New Member Thread and look around in the Project System. Then come back and read on…
https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/introduce-yourselves-new-member-thread/
https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/
Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.
First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.
You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.
If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.
A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil. This includes no philosophy, no home computer culture wars.
Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.
Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)
And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is The Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv
If you fancy to see some nice WIP pictures go to the WAYPN thread https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/what-are-you-painting-now-2025-edition/
### End of shameless copy and paste ###
Question of the week:
- Three weeks into 2026: what new years resolutions are already out the window? (If you had resolutions)
And now back to the show.
January 23, 2026 at 9:23 am #1960566Pledge: Sort out some Spackle Marnies and other assorted ancient G’Wullu bits and bobs.
Answer: None! Does not apply! Have no resolution have no stress! 8) I win!
Music:
January 23, 2026 at 10:14 am #1960585Pledge: Just finishing off the Drunes today from last week’s pledge and then it is on to the Earth Tribes. I’m excited about these as they include a really lovely looking unit of Celtos cavalry that I’ve wanted to do for ages.

Soooo pretty 🙂
Answer: I’ve kept the life resolutions to a minimum this year as I’m in the middle of some fairly major changes as I’m selling my house (hopefully) and moving back to London for the first time in more than 30 years. As to hobby stuff I’m working away at the pledges I made on the thread here and given it is still super early in the year I’m very happy with my progress; two out of three Midgard army upgrades are done and the stuff I’m doing this week will complete this task.
January 23, 2026 at 10:21 am #1960586Celtos, nice.
Some day I will unbox and paint mine XD
Oh, last nights game:
January 23, 2026 at 10:42 am #1960590Nice looking game. How did it go? You are looking out for more of your collection so I assume you guys had fun with 3rd edition.
January 23, 2026 at 10:44 am #1960591This week’s pledge is to start another batch of Heroes 3 minis. I finished the Fortress faction last night so will probably be posting photos later today or tomorrow.
- Three weeks into 2026: what new years resolutions are already out the window? (If you had resolutions) – I had three resolutions (I’m a target driven guy) and so far so good. My hobby resolution was board gaming, and I’ve got Aeon Trespass all setup (an ordeal in it’s own right) and played two sessions so far.
January 23, 2026 at 10:48 am #1960593Nice looking game. How did it go?
His bloat drone dreadnought proxy survived my first rocket attacks and consequentially slaughtered my boys XD
January 23, 2026 at 11:04 am #1960597His bloat drone dreadnought proxy survived my first rocket attacks and consequentially slaughtered my boys XD
So now you are looking for more and bigger stuff to deal with that? The arms race begins 😀
January 23, 2026 at 12:18 pm #1960658January 23, 2026 at 12:40 pm #1960659Pledge – Get back to the hobbying. I’m still struggling to pick up the paintbrush at the moment, so any progress would be good. My poor neglected Orks need some focus. The horde has grown, but the painting has not been keeping up.
What resolutions? Maybe to stay out of the comments section for a while 🙂
January 23, 2026 at 12:42 pm #1960660The arms race begins
No need to. My Orks are fasta anyway plus I still have lots of stuff sitting in the closet. But since we’re currently limited to 3rd edition core book (no codices) I don’t have flyers and some upgrade don’t work as they do in the codex.
I need to do inventory for my Chaos and Space Smurfs.
January 23, 2026 at 4:22 pm #1960810Pledge: finish the first group of Blood Angels. And then change to paint some Tau.
Resolutions: going fine.
Music, something the jam band I’m in is working on
January 23, 2026 at 4:59 pm #1960812@sundancer if you had painted them red they’d be even faster 😉
Resolutions ? nah, not doing any of that. Only a generic goal to do more hobby (and finish my damn hobby room :D)
Speaking of which. The tiny christmas bonus/gift (75 Euro in gift cards) from work has been spend.
I spend some of that on a router (the power tool kind, not the internet kind ;)) and the rest on the thing that will arrive tomorrow if all goes as planned. It should help with my project if these things work as advertised, but we shall see if I don’t end up sacrificing something of myself to the hobby god. 😀
So yeah … ‘big plans’ kind of.
It all depends on how much bovine excrement that ‘AI’ told me.
I still need to buy some wood and plan another visit to the blue&yellow scandawegian store for a few extra bits.
The worst part is that I will have to spend the day waiting for stuff to arrive, which makes it impossible to plan anything until I know when things are arriving. I really don’t want to haul that thing from a pickup point as I might as well have bought it at the local DIY shop myself.January 23, 2026 at 8:05 pm #1960832January 24, 2026 at 1:56 pm #1960881It as arrived …
I iz now proud owner of an entry level powered mitre saw.
Now to figure out where to place it, because of course I didn’t think of that bit 😀
I’m slowly building my own collection of power tools, because I’ve noticed that manual saws take too much effort to do the job.
So instead I choose to use my brain and let other things do the hard work for me. *grin*While waiting I had another series of arguments with Gemini.
It got so bad that I simply started a new conversation from scratch because I just couldn’t get it to do anything sane.Time to go shopping and maybe get some wood to practice ? I shall see.
