Progressing Onto Extra Rules – Chatting With Ronnie!

We get a chat with Ronnie to find out what he's been up to this morning so far, talking with the Boot Campers about adding in some extra rules and making things a little harder for the survivors.

We'll be catching up with more of our Boot Campers throughout the day!

I’m still waiting for my Kickstarter box, but I’m thinking about using the Cell Shading method to paint these. Getting excited to try it.

nelf

The threat tracker works great for adding extra levels of tension

stormshriek

The threat level is a real cool mechanic, not only does it ratchet tension but it’s a built in timer.

fireblarney

Looks like another great day ahead.

dorthonion

Piling on the pressure – nice mechanic!
Does that ‘shush’ action work on Warren? Not likely but just curious….

golonka

The nerve mechanic seems really neat and great at enhancing the theme as well as tactical choices. This might be the game to introduce to some mates not yet into miniature gaming but likes TWD world.

longlivethesheep

Really interesting mechanics. I’m hoping that Ronnie was thoroughly pumped for information while at the pub last night, justin did you pump Ronnie?

darkvoivod

Nice shirt. The nerve rule sounds pretty good.

panzerkaput

I think it is one of the best parts of this game is Nerve. I am looking forward to see how this effects the game.

wolf320f

looking remarkably with it considering the planned drinking on the lead up to this, i wonder will it hold up lol

nooboi

It going to be interesting to see have Nerve effects game play. Do you try to rush in and go quickly or plan on a longer game.

swbeil

The game mechanics are brilliant, it’s all the things that would come up if you were there.

arbblsbigbelcher

That little extra, nerve, makes the gameplay more interesting and enjoyable. Don’t panic mr man warren.

spaced2020

I think today’s games will be tense with the new rules kicking, biting, howling there way in. 🙂

spaced2020

*their – I am my own grammar Nazi

andrax

i love this dynamic at a boot camp – will watch the whole day while painting my walkers…

hairystef

This is why I prefer WD over Zombicide. Get me right, Zombicide is a great casual coop game but WD adds a level of immersion, flexibility and stress.

necrothrall

I like the threat tracker mechanic

firebuck

I like how the rules are getting added gradually. I find that really helps learning a game.
I wish I could have been a fly on the wall at the pub. Most likely a great time and I wonder if any potential games were discussed.

darthcheese

You’ve got some nerve. I’m here all week

pojoh

I bet it wouldn’t be hard to do an app.. to track the nerve .. and have sound/music effects. The ‘nerve’ idea is a great way to add immersion to the game.

nogginthenog

I really like the threat tracker mechanic.

The game seems to have much more depth than a quick look would suggest.

barretem30

I didn’t really pay any attention to this when it was on kickstarter as I really don’t like Licensed IP games from TV movies and such but the more I hear about this the more I think I would like it.

astralwraith

The “nerve” mechanic seems a really good way to simulate the way stress etc can affect different people in different ways

hazyboy75

The threat mechanic looks really interesting, looking forward to seeing it in action

ijontichy

So glad I Backed this!
Cheers!

skabott

nice way to progress with the games by adding rules and party size bit by bit, great stuff.

staxer

Ronnie has a nice T-Shirt only thing missing………… Blood and Braainnns!

petey9

I love the idea of the threat tracker. Makes it seem very real.

jmrecoil

I really like the threat tracker mechanic in the game.

crashoveride

I would like to play this.

drummer

Seems like Mantic has learned to make rules more clearly. Keep up the good work!

wolfkind

Wonder if there will eventually be a rules compendium like with mars attacks?

mwcannon

A couple of questions:

1) when Ronnie talks about scaling up is he specifically referring to adding equipment and rules but staying somewhere under 5-10 characters or is he talking about making the game play possible on a bigger area with more stuff? I would love to get a true large scale ZA game set of rules, like WWZ and the zombie attack out of New York.

2) Does Ronnie have aplan for adding rules, etc. or is he following the way the book adds rules?

tmon

With the adding more rules and more figures might make the game run a little slow.

rbwgames

Gotta keep calm in the zombocolyps or you’re a gonner!

somegeezer

I remember the threat tracker from the demo game. It’s a great widget!

fox40

Would be interesting to find out more about the leaders.
Can anyone be a leader?
What leadership abilities do they have?

crazycabo

Don’t make it difficult for the survivors

murphy909

One game I played of this with friends, death and destruction killed off most characters, but for the last two turns of the threat tracker, I continuously rolled ‘Scream’ under stupids odds. Thankfully it ended the game before I was swarmed. I wasnt upset I lost, I just couldn’t stop laughing that my character screamed twice, so basically Sandra lost the plot and screamed herself into oblivion. That’s what I love most about this game, is the cinematic events that can take place throughout. I’m pleased as punch with the Kickstarter and itching to get my hands on the boosters and future waves.

bmat

I mentioned this on another post, but the nerve mechanic adds just the right amount of randomness under pressure.

doomzombie

With , great way to progress the game.

mulletsteve

Building the complications and pressures. hope everyone gets a hang of things quickly. nice to see theres depth to the rules set.

waywarddarkwolf

Threat tracker – nice mechanic. Kinda similar to the one employed in Zombicide, so seems to be coming a bit of an essential for Zombie games. Great for getting the old panic levels going, adding to the flavour. Love it.

Ahhh I see Ronnie’s getting on a bit….taking the glasses off to read now….the old middle aged long sightedness thing….I feel his pain. He needs to get cracking on the expansions and the new games….he may be heading to the old folks home in a few years!

bigdaddio

Always interesting to hear Ronnie. Seems to have plenty of passion for the product.

laughingboy

going to play my first game tomorrow with my eldest son, hopefully it goes well but i like the idea of starting simple and adding additional rules.

zorg

don’t panic don’t panic.

blasterca

No *Nerve* on Friday? I’d have thought that would be something to get to on Day 1.

Blaster was here… & has a lot of Nerve!

jahatch28

I do like the mechanics with the Nerve and Leadership… does make for some interesting choices when playing and even when list-building… also glad to see that it’s a little bit harder for you to lose control of your models (as the Threat has to be HIGHER than your Nerve) so that’s going to help make the middle and end game be a bit less chaotic (vs say in the Let’s Play Video).

psyche

I’m very interested to see some in game videos, see how nerve effects the games and how the calming actions get used. This is going to be very interesting

greaper

Not alot of rule i like that

alphapocalypse

A threat dial that goes back the other way, nice. It will make it interesting to try and play a horde gang who I am guessing wont handle the threat very well. Perhaps numbers won’t win this, unless your already dead

badgobo

Cool way to learn the game

eddator227

Nerve and threat level sounds great combination!

caleum

i like the mechanik of this game

coxjul

Quick question. How long were tge games taking on Friday night? Scaled uo a bit with more rules how long now? (Allowing for the fact people are still learning)

warhammergrimace

I like the idea of the nerve rule…it has the potential to throw any plan you have right outta the window

paintingdeamon

Its all about scaling up Guy its al about scaling up

guillotine

The threat tracker mechanic is something I think I’ll use in scenarios for other wargames too. Last desparate survivors trying to hold off against escalating enemy numbers, whose nerve is going to hold.

bobmoor

I agree with many of the above posts the Nerve and threat tracker mechanic are great and adds so much to the game.

thescotsman

Looks like everyone is having a great day. My kickstarter box has arrived so can’t wait to play

redyeti

So, does neegan work in reverse with his morale? XD “roll to marry someone elses wife” thats a rule right?

wargamerpaul

Awesome. I wish I was there.

alin

Ronnie has a really nice T-shirt

cbrenner

I love the threat tracker mechanic. I am definitely thinking to do the cell shading, especially on the walkers.

collins

lets kill some walkers!

buggeroff

very nice mechanic there, this gets better and better 🙂

attilla13

I was wondering why noone seemed to mention nerve yesterday. Makes things even more tense, unless you have a leader! Very cool mechanic.

lordsharick

….Time to Gauge the Stones of your People…. \m/ \m/

hauptmanncanuck

Excited to say the least. Cant wait for this game to ship out my way

marktarver

Must remember threat is higher. Like the idea that they can just run away and ruin a well laid plan.

usling

Cant wait to see some survivors start panicking!

scrapspoxx

Really like that the game is built so it’s possible to play everthing solo

cybermonkey

Love the way Ronnie thinks on his feet so easily. His brain just never seems to switch off. The man is gaming gold!

harald0skald

Fun game!

stkelly82

Some really cool rules mechanics that are very thematic.

baranora

Cool minis!

eddieharr

I love how the guns run out of ammo, I love the threat tracker! all around seems great!

hargarpad

This stuff is epic

bigkev

Looking forward to seeing the new rules

rgreenparadox
