I like the doors and other 3D elements, I am with Warren on that one that it adds a bit more to the game.
Also nice to hear that they do special add-on packs for the new enemies that get unlocked.

I like that it’s metal … makes it that much easier to resist temptation 😉
I prefer non-metal too, but these are great sculpts.
I know. Corvus Belli make really great minis, but they are so tiny and fragile.
I just haven’t had any luck assembling them without cursing and destroying my fun …
Never had such moments with plastic.
Interesting. I don’t know that i’d mind the fragility (or not) as such, at least not during the process of assembling them, and i think i’m prepared to put up with it for the ‘realism’ and less heroism in scale. For me it’s the weight and the problem of putting heavy miniatures down on the table somewhere and then finding them toppling over at the slightest breeze, and then of course having the paint chip off. But then i haven’t actually tried Corvus Belli miniatures yet. I’m going by experiences with other metal miniatures.
I managed to break the ‘knife’ of one of the starter set infinity figures.
That thing was a tiny sliver of metal.
The average infinity figure looks really cool as a display piece.
However as a gaming mini they are a bit too delicate.
The ‘heroic’ scale and oversized ‘unrealistic’ weapons used by the competition helps keep them save both during assembly and play.
Heh, I know right? I’ve admired Corvus Belli’s miniatures but I just cannot (will not) go back to metal after seeing how much more you can do with plastics now. All it takes is one drop onto a hard floor and it’s over.
It’s getting harder and harder not to jump on this. The price is still keeping me out, but that is becoming less of an issue as this gets further in.

Looks great. A Myrmidon hero would be great as well.
I promised the wife I’d only get one more, and that was core space when I got the chance to get the KS box after release. I’m really tempted to break that promise the more of this I see.
In a way… this is Core Space,
We had this discussion over on the Core Space Facebook page, we felt that Defiance is more of a “boardgame” and Core Space is more of a “Skirmish game” (although you could play Core Space as a board game using the squares marked on the mat). They are a bit different in how they play, but Core Space was an insta buy for me, Defiance is a bit harder (although if you’re already into the Infinity game I’d imagine this would also be a insta buy as you’ve got a load of minis that can cross over to the main Infinity game).
It’s also a Manga vs Space Opera aesthetic, so that may dictate your decision. But Core Space is the one KS that I’ve backed that I’ve played more than anything else. Defiance it’s not fair to make a comparison, as it’s in no-one’s hands just yet. But I DID like the terrain that came with Core Space as it really makes the table go “pop” in interest for me and the other players 🙂

Really liking the additional characters and their support bots. I’m sure more of them are planned – so looking forward to seeing them.

Amazing to see, seems like these videos are tuned into the Kickstarter. This makes me think it’s going exactly to plan or Somehow OTT is editing these on the fly to ensure only reachable content is on show! Either way crazy happy so far!
Are there open doors? Or can those doors open?

One of the stretch goals should be Warren doing the narration interrupted by Gerry giving snarky commentary! I would pay the add-0n price for that!

We need more accessories
Corvus Belli has always been known for the quality of there product, but to offer head and body alternatives they have just raised the bar again, Bravo.
I am not a fan, I would rather have a full alternative pose miniature. It would be nice if they at least offered the option to buy an extra set of legs
Aye that’s the one thing that’s making me pause on going on the KS vs waiting for retail (Xmas IS coming up after all), if they were offering a full alt sculpt I’d be more interested that mashing up just the one figure and leaving half a figure in the bits box 🙁

Please CB, PLEASE, don’t leave us with useless parts, give us at least option to buy whole models!
On different note, it all yesterday’s news already, I wonder what where their expectations before launching this.
I do find the “alternative body” to be a bit weird. It would be nice if it were possible to buy additional legs or whatever so that we could have a full alternative pose model.
Loving all these extra surprises, can’t wait to hopefully see them all! Those alternate sets look amazing, I really hope they include the extra bodies.
Card sleeves so simple. So satisfying.
The alternate sculpts look fantastic. I honestly don’t like the Combined box add ons. Seems like rehashing of the existing models but on the other hand they could be a great way to get someone to play Combined outside Defiance.
I really hope we unlock more missions and maybe even a mission generator.
I love the variety of the figures they have coming out.
An extra set of legs would really be great.
The arrival of Haqqislam is the big story here but yeah the doors and such are well nice ??
I am glad for the all the remotes they are adding into this game. The Aleph engineer should be a great option to meddle in different areas. Her palbot strikes such a great, comedic pose of confidence. Hopefully more stretch goals are met that might see her engineering skills put to the test (will she be repairing more than just the ship and turrets?).
Maybe a Gecko tag designed and modified for a ship’s tight quarters over years in the field. Maybe piloted on certain missions by the ship’s NPC pilot: Agnes.
Glad to see the campaign is off to a decent pace! The content is interesting so far, any hope for additional scenarios?

I am in for the full pledge level but those add on packs are looking really tempting for both the Defiance and regular Infinity game. The Haqqislam doctor makes sense to me as does the Aleph engineer. The helper remotes are cool.
I think the early miniatures where both fragile and difficult to assemble, in my opinion.
However their latest miniatures I’ve purchased have been the opposite, both robust and easy to assemble.
Still resisting, almost doubles price to get shipping to NZ.
So much hype for this game! Especially with me starting to get into Shasvastii in Infinity, this will be an awesome way to pretty much get all the models! Shipping is gonna be tough for South Africa though…
as a CA player the defiances KS is the best thing that could happen to me, I love it.
I love the extra bust options, but the one who stole my heart is Trisha. I love everything about this character, the layers of clothing, the hair, her awesome eyepatch. She is perfect!
I’ll be adding my voice to those that want the parts to make complete bodies, even if it’s as an optional add-on
Cool things are indeed coming
Defiance is giving me mixed messages at the moment. Don’t get me wrong this was the Kickstarter I was waiting for all year and CB have clearly been doing a lot of preparation for this. And it shows in a very slick Kickstarter so far.
I get the need to be conservative with this launch and go Kickstarter so as not to sit on stock that can’t be moved. Continuously saying its a limited and complete product is doing a disservice. Taking the basic box to retail as a third standalone game would at least provide some indication of longer term plans. Saying there will be further support if there is interest only goes so far if in effect its going to be a closed system as there would be only limited return for CB.
It’s a lovely shiny box full of stuff, but at the moment its still limited in terms of how much playtime comes out of it. Adding more models to do the same scenarios has limits. The all in is not cheap but a very good deal for the models, if you want exactly those ones.
I respect their conservative approach on this they are a company built on delivering what their community expects.
I know that the hope is that this game will gain the support of the community as they hope to go massive on it. But equally they are saying hey if it has legs we will push its support, but at the very least you have little to lose here as it is entirely self contained.
In an age where too many promises are made on kickstarter I find it refreshing that they are using the platform in this conservative way to launch a new franchise and hopefully see the levels of support to make it a staple for players to experience the infinity universe in a different way. 🙂

Looking out for any more Aleph or Pano models – then it will truly become a gateway game for me personally – I really want to start collecting those factions!

Solo/co-op games are seriously one of my favourite things right now.

The minis look to be the best part. And can always just use the minis in Core Space.
