Guild Ball Week: Faction Guide – Brewer’s Guild
April 24, 2017 by dignity
We take a took at the Guild Ball team that has intoxicated Justin with their ability to play with a drink in one hand and a broken glass in the other, the Brewer's Guild.
Watch Guild Ball Week
If you want a team that can soak damage up like a tank this is the Guild for you. Plus, they have a cat for a mascot which can give your captain some useful tactical advice (he's been drinking...a lot).
Prizes To Be Won
During this week you could win One of Three Copies of the Guild Ball Kick Off! Starter Set as seen in our Kick Off! Demo Game (published later today).
All you’re going to need to do is comment on the videos this week across Facebook, YouTube and Beasts Of War to be in with a chance of winning this fantastic prize.

I feel like I need a stiff drink now
<– He told me so!!
Only one drink? Scab told me to go to the pub and get hammered
So going to be paining mine up with a tartan… does anyone know where you can get tartan paint from?
Steamforged had a video of some start of April time 🙂
HA! Maybe the Army Painter can dream up a way.
Brewers look mental!! The Tartan just really seals the flavour 🙂
Brewers: I imagine tough, rough and dirty tactics.
Brewers really excel at putting conditions on their opponents. My friend plays them, and my players are constantly either bleeding or on fire (or sometimes knocked down). It’s gotten to the point where I won’t play against him without veteran Harmony in my roster because she’s great at removing conditions.
Any game benefits from a comical faction. I love the guys who are so wasted they think they’re playing cricket or talking to cats.
I love Mash with those Princess Leia buns on the sides of his head. The Brewers minis look great.
I love the Brewers! If I win I’m giving the plastic set to a friend and keeping Masons.
My original opponent used Brewers, they never seemed to work together for him. I think I’d like to give them a go.
that cricket bat …..stroke of genius
Looks wonderful.
Although I still love Blood Bowl so I would be more tempted to get back into that.
The other videos might convince me!
Play both 🙂
I do …. love them both … they are different games but both are fun …. go on @rickabod41 give it a go 😉
Blood Bowl is more random (not necesarrily a bad thing). Veteran players have an advantage over newcomers, but the randomness of the game has a way of equalizing things. It’s a fun game, and very appropriate for beer’n’pretzels kind of play where you just want to have fun and winning isn’t that big of a deal. Blood Bowl has a great campaign/season component.
Guildball is more tactical. Experienced players are notably better than newcomers, and the dice rarely really decide the outcome of the game. It’s a lot like Warmachine, honestly (the influence is noticeable). The season mode for Guildball is a little bit more fiddly though. It’s definitely higher maintenance for whoever is organizing it, but there’s a lot more intrigue in between games with player trades and players accomplishing “secret goals” for team benefits.
They’re both good games. I prefer Guildball, personally, but I understand the appeal of Blood Bowl or Dreadball.
The brewers are faction for me I think
proof everything is better with alcohol
Got beer, got luck ..got Goal.
I assume they will transition the whole line of minis over to plastic eventually.
I have all of the original metal models. Now I want the plastics so I can leave the metals in the display and bring the plastics to game with. Such a great faction. The look and feel work great on the table in game play. Almost like it was meant to be. Destiny? Serendipitous? Fate? Yes?
The stokers mini is bloody brilliant.
From the two guilds in the starter box they would definately have to be the first ones to go under the paintbrush.
Those are some great looking minis
This is a fantastic game and the Brewers are some of the most fun models to play!
painting guide PLEASE
I play the Brewers… hate the Fisherman… they are sooo fast.
The models from this guild are uber crazy
what a fantastic paint job !
Great painted models there! I could not paint a decent tartan so… they would not look like that if i get them.
I played against them on sunday in my fist game of GB and they are though indeed!
My buddy fell in love with Brewers
Been have a lot of fun with these guys, in kick off games. Plus they do look stunning.
oh and scum is a super star mascot, if for nothing else my opponent lately has developed an irrational hatred of him. Which is leading to some non-optimal decisions. I have always seen him as Greebo from the discworld books.
That paint job is amazing. The models also look really varied and dynamic.
I have a feeling that Stoker character will end up in Warzan’s viking collection somehow.
The Brewers are my favourite faction.
Big guys on the razz? This really ought to be my faction.
Big lads on the razz with cricket bats?
Big lads on the razz who are so clattered they think they’re playing cricket?
I missed my calling!
In a game without dwarves, those are the dwarves.
The paint jobs are awesome. Love this faction.
I would hate to paint these guys to make them look right . I am not good enaff to paint tarpons.
best models yet.
Great models! And awesome paintjob!
Awesome
Figures looks so great that I’m having a hard time deciding which faction I like the most!
Take my option, buy lots …
Those are my favourite team at the moment :)!
Looks like a fun faction, but I would be scared to paint them after seeing what the studio guys have done… wow.
For my Initial faction I was tossing up between Butchers and Brewers .. but only Butcher were available when I chose to take the plunge so I went them ….part of me still regrets that to this day … sob…. excuse me I’m going to get a beer
I’m not a drinker, so I’m not ‘one with the team’ the way Justin is.
However, once they hit the table I love them! They’re ability to knock someone on their rear end and them have two or three gang up on him until he’s out is fantastic and a lot of fun to play.
These look good but the idea of painting Tartan is a scary prospect! I’d have to come up with a slightly different colour scheme I reckon!
I love the background on some of these teams lol
Played this faction in a demo game at salute and had great fun with them, but I am going to have a look at all of the guilds before making my decision on which one I would play.
Great team, but I think I’ll go for Engineers next. (Having Fisherman and Union)
Really like the look of the brewers and love the cat.
Do they play as well when the Player is drunk?
Brewers are the best Guild. Just ignore the tourney rankings. 😉
I picked up Brewers for the first time at the start the Figo League I’m running. Now as the league is almost over I have to say I love this Guild. Some people complain they’re slow but I say it doesn’t matter how fast you are once I’ve knocked you down and beat you senseless.
I love the Brewers, lovely paint jobs on the ones shown in the video.
Thick and fast content. Keep it coming.
Taking advice from a cat? Too funny. Painting tartan…noooo…..
I take advice from my cat all the time. When my wife is pissed off the cat stays outside of the room she is in and will refuse to enter including growling. That tells me to stay away as well. 🙂
Interesting… not exactly my flavor, but they are gorgeous.
They should be called the brawlers, but they look so cool.
But I always take advice from my cat! ……. come to think of it…….my usually tipsy!
“I’m” usually tipsy! Not “my” usually tipsy! …… I rest my face!
The tartan paint jobs are amazing!
Not really fond of bashy teams, but brewers look fun
what a lovely detailed and really wel painted minis, also tartans… they look so great, also can get a beer meanwile are playing, who dont want that, hahah!
As the owner of a pub there’s no other faction I could take really. Nice to know they’re good all-rounders.
these look nice, but I’m never painting tartans again in my life
I’d love to win a copy of the plastic starter set .I’m game-less at the moment after having to sell up what i had to fund life…This would allow me to join in at my local club where there’s a bit of a GB following starting up….
how do the seasons work?
I could join this team!
starting to come around to this… however is it just me or is there a touch of Ragnar about Bryce?
I love these models. I really do. Not too sure if it’s my playstyle, though.
Might have to paint mine to look like they work for the Witchwood brewery.
i now fancy a large Rum………
Really fantastic models
Nice guild….Brewers are lobbing barrels that explode…are tough in hide and Stoker has lots of armour!
Great bunch of characters…Very characterful people…Loves Spigot has sombered up!
Love there is such varied play style.
OK, this is the guild which has grabbed me so far. If only for the opportunity to have a psychotic cat dishing out advice! 😀
Out of the Mason’s or Brewers I would like to play the Brewers and I would love to try out painting tartan on these gorgeous minis. Stoker would be awesome just as a painting project because I’ve never painted fire like that before and would love to give it a go. Really enjoying these videos.
It’s hard not to like the brewers – until you try to paint tartan. Then it’s a love/hate kind of thing 🙂
Another one I haven’t got on the table yet, but my youngest (the more avid wargamer) has decided they’re the faction for her. Looks like I’ll be painting a fair bit of tartan in the near future. They do sound damn fun to play!
these guys definitely have a tone of appeal. Like Justin says tho I would maybe look at an alternative to painting that tartan!
I thought Justin played these with appropriate brutality in the demo game!
Guild Ball is so good, just got into last month
Damn lousy drunks!
Amazing looking miniatures, alcoholic celts, great theme 😉
Great backgrounds on these teams. I would be terrified to have to paint these after seeing the studio painted ones. I would not be happy with anything that I did.
I like the humor behind this faction. It’s so well made.
The Brewers look promising
Won my first game with kick off playing the Brewers. Always fun kicking someone on the ground.
I love the theming, but I was hoping for more rules related to drinking. The background for the characters act the way they do is still gold though.
These guys are my primary team, very nice sculpts and fun to paint!
Fancy!
I`m intoxicated with the Brewers and there drunken ways, there now top of my list and will be hard to remove from it. I loving the “Tartan” look on the “Brewers”, and painting the tartan design is gonna be one hell of a challenge. I think the “Cat” should have a tartan cape, or be painted tartan.
I love the team, been playing them for a little while. Very fun.
i think i need a lesson to paint that tartan style
i love these miniatures
Funny guild, must be a blast to play.
The brewers seem like a lot of fun, I really like how different these different guilds are and I like the themes giving each guild a different play style.
These minis are just gorgeous, that tartan is so well done, I know I would not be able to paint that but I am sure I could find something that could look good as well.
HOOPER!
Yeah, that cricketer. Fair play!
I know quite a few people that would love the theme of this faction haha.
Not the guild for me, but that cat model I need to have. Also I know someone for whom this guild to be perfect for. If only I could convince him to get involved in another game…
Cheers *hick* 😛
Want this faction too
Cant belive the cool tartan. Wish I could paint something like it. Just dont have the patience
That is some beautiful paint. The fire effect was amazing.
That tartan paintjob is fire!
FREE BEER, Yeah i think these guys are my favorite team so far, CHEERS
The Brewers Guild look great, so characterful. Amazing paint jobs.
Drunk Scotsmen with a touch of viking! Yes!!!
Lovely models – really torn between which faction to go for!
