A Guide To The Unaligned In Blood & Plunder
June 22, 2017 by crew
We’re turning our attention to The Unaligned who are piratical fellows in Firelock Games’ Blood & Plunder.
Back Blood & Plunder: No Peace Beyond The Line On Kickstarter Now
However, while this lot might be pirates every faction has options to unleash rapscallions like this on these on the tabletop.
The Unaligned fall into two groups with the Brethren Of The Coast, a mix of French & English Bucanners and some defected Spanish Sailors or the Log-Wood Cutters, affectionately known as “Pirate Lumberjacks”.
Find out how they work in this video and if they’re for you.

You got to love a drunken rabble of pirates! Why is all the rum gone!!
First to comment on this 🙂 – Does this mean I win a prize?? 😉
This is the one I’ve been waiting for…..
Pirate lumberjacks? Count me in
Unfortunately you’re second.
Really like the unaligned. So if start with the Dutch and English I can mix them up for an unaligned force?
Yes, I would think so. If nothing else, then you can proxy the Dutch models.
But I guess that they will make adjustment to the unaligned faction in the new book to allow Dutch to be core troops in the faction.
This factions is the one that inspired novels and films.
I think it will be the most iconic faction.
So glad I picked up Morgan… seems like a flexible leader.
Very nice third force – before we see the indigenous natives that is…
The Unaligned. The perfect way of pretending you have a pirate crew from your own nation… pretend Irish pirates away!
this getting more and more tempting
Drunken pirate tree poachers?!? Sounds like fun!
Great video! 🙂
Liking the sound of this faction.
But why burn all the rum?! I love them. That would be my faction.
Drunk pirates, awesome lol
so love this game
I like the sound of this faction but looking forward to finding out about the English
I think you would have to get one of each force to really enjoy recreating all of the stories this game can offer. Can I just add … just looked at the kickstarter…….woah ….. what anumber awesome looking second half
I like the possibilities of they have, seems to have several options available to play the game different than the others factions…..
Do you plan to release a legendary commander for this faction?
Yarr
Take a glass of rum
I’m not going to take your insolence sitting down!
#insult sword fighting
I like that they made the game so you learn historically what tactics work best. Off to the kickstarter i go!
I think this would be my first choice for the groups. Sounds like fun with some customization abilities too.
Why is the rum all gone? The Unaligned, of course!
i wanna play the guys the might be drunk when you show up, easiest for me to figure out
Lets break out the Rum boys!
I lean towards unaligned factions in most games, and dig how these take from each of the existing armies…
Always happy to see a “mercenary” faction/s
Yo ho!
They are a great bridge force. By that I mean once you get any two starters you essentially have 3 forces. You might have to add a pack to round out your play stye but this is a very nice factor. A hidden value if you will.
I love the idea of this faction, but I think that it will be too steep a learning curve for me.
I’m going to stick to the main stream, until I can understand the game-play/rules better.
Basically Canadian pirates….
Looks cool, I also love pirates so it would be cool to have with my other pirate things.
Yep, I think this is it!
Drunk rules ftw.
did I miss the English?
Now that’s what I was hoping for…the “real” pirate faction
Love this faction. Iconic.
Anyone else have sea shanty songs going off in their head?
Also, if you don’t pick me to win a prize: Walk the plank, ya scurvy dogs!
The pirate lumberjacks sound interesting. Even if only for your opponent never knowing what to expect. Even though it isn’t historically acurate Firelock should just release a not-Jack-Sparrow. Just for fun.
Just wait … someone will custom a Dred Pirate Roberts.
Yes, the unaligned intrigues me enough that this may just be my buying in faction to the game. Awesome job guys.
All the toys
Just binge watched the entire collection… and now I’m totally psyched and in the mood for a sweet, saucy pirate wench to help me guzzle some rum.
They will be getting the legendary commander Captain Kidd from the new Kickstarter. You can also add blunderbusses and grenadoes with the new Kickstarter. Then they will be a fearsome force.
The thing I really like about this faction is that it’s a great way to get a few figures from each nationality, making it really easy to branch out into nationality specific at a later stage – seems like a great starting option.
Finally my nation the unaligned, now let’s try this beatiful game in the tropics to add even more realism, just send me the prize and I’ll report back to you.
I like the idea of a mix and match faction. I would have to know more about the rules before I picked one though.
On an unrelated note how long is Bob Fett going to wait for a fist bump?
I’ve backed the Kickstarter, the Dutch and Indian factions look interesting.
I am definitely planning on playing these guys. Also looking forward to the Dutch.
A truly pirate faction with leanings towards your favourite troop types? These could be cool.
Wow the unaligned are cool. I love the history and have been reading the book mention a few posts ago.
The peasants have risen!
This is the faction I got in the kickstarter and I love them. Nice and adaptable!
Ooh these look fun…
They just pillaging for rum and gold, the aaaarrh faction hehe. Is great too if you start collect for various factions!
Love the historical forces for the game brings so much more depth and real colour than the two dimensional Pirates of the Caribbean / Long John Silver fictional approach.
quite a flexible faction
Having come off the back of watching Black Sails, pirates are where it’s at. Would love to see the likes of Charles Vane and Edward Teach in this game. Perhaps even Anne Bonny.
These have the feel of the true pirates. No allegiance but to themselves.
Awesome faction… especially since they can be built from pre existing collections if you go English/French. Making for more replayability.
YARRR!!! All hands hoa and no Hornswaggling!
100% the faction for me!! I really cant wait to get some of these guys on the table!!
Really great way of introducing the game, factions, character, abilities and whatnot, it’s been pretty easy to follow through
shiver me timbers and all that im waiting for the British
unaligned ?, a crew for made me 😉
pirates all the way
You had me at Pirate Lumbrjacks!
Such a great game. Backed the first KS and went all in on this one also.
Sounds like you can have a lot of fun with the “Unaligned”, just have to remember to keep the “Rum” topped up. Who`s gonna wont to fight with an empty bottle in there hands.
Yeah, these are going to be the guys for me! Does anyone know good online stores in UK or mainland Europe stocking B&P?
wonder if that means you’ll get to take units from the kickstarter factions too. Great video guys
Really all about The Unaligned. Definitely the faction I want to get into.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrr! Shiver me timbers!
French English and a smattering of Spanish, and the scum from all the dregs of society. Sounds like my kinda force. The Orks of The Coast, uh, I mean the Brethren of the Coast.
I’m playing unaligned. Plenty of options and a good mix of troops. I haven’t tried the log wood cutters option yet though.
Having watched lack Sails, this looks a cool faction.
Logcutters! That’s what I’m talking about.
Nice flexibility in forming a force!
The true rum-powered faction. My old grandad* would be proud.
* though he was a rum-powered undertaker, not a pirate.
This sounds fun.
I’m loving this game.
Very nice
Ahhh my faction!!!!!!!
I am sure this will be the players’ favourite faction in B&P!
Just got home from Nassau with a fresh bottle of rum, or two. Cheers to the unaligned!
I like how the Unaligned seem a group that can be incorporated into another nationality or their own group. A nice way to have a 2 player box setup or one larger unit of nationality of choice. Even if that is a larger Unaligned.
I’m going to need new terrain.. and that is money best spent on Ships!
Unaligned are definitely my favourite faction.
Yo ho, yo ho!
They is so much to this game and it just keeps getting better
Gotta have some pirates
Really like the unaligned’s ability to pick and choose which units to bring!
Probably my faction choice, since it allows you to create a lot of fluff.
Looks interesting. I wish the terrain was easier to make though. I wonder how compelling it will be without that great terrain.
