Should We Be Valuing Our Miniature Collections | #XLBS Clip (Antique Vault)
November 3, 2020 by warzan
On a recent Cult Of Games XLBS show, we discussed the prospect of having our tabletop gaming collections valued with Michael MacDonald, an experienced valuer from Antique Vault.
Is this something you have done or considered and would this be something of value to your loved ones who may not realise the value of your collection?
Perhaps if you inherit or have objects that you may be interested in selling, it could be worth checking this out as you could cash then in to build up another miniature collection! If so you are interested, make sure to contact Michael through this website: https://www.antiquevault.co.uk/

Sometime ago now i found myself with little space and little prospect of ever getting more and boxes and boxes of miniatures, magazines and books filling up the little room i was renting. So as well as many of my books i sold almost my entire collection of Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40000 miniatures, and my WFRP material. It was all auctioned on eBay. Most miniatures and RPG books sold for at least what i paid for them and many of them for much more. The big sellers were WFRP fanzines. Some of the Warpstone magazines went for over £100 (each – the record for a Warpstone magazine is over £200 i think) and the Hogshead Hogswash newletter cum fanzines cum official magazines went for quite a lot too. I’d say the Hogswash magazines would be very interesting to someone who was interested in the history of gaming. It includes adverts for an RPG with, as far as i know, a unique concept, that never ended up being produced, and it included the first tiny mention of the Lord of the Rings films being in production, as i recall years before it came out and long before i came across reference of them again. I would happily put much of it back in my collection (now i have more space) but some of the items are so rare i may never come across them again.
yes it was expectable in the 80s. Lol
At the least, find out your renter’s / personal insurance coverage.
I cant wait for Lovejoy to have a reunion show and it is all about the minis.
