The X-Men Apocalypse Trailer Has Landed
December 11, 2015 by brennon
If you've been following along with the X-Men film saga then you'll be chomping at the bit to watch the new X-Men: Apocalypse trailer which, predictably, adds the mighty foe Apocalypse to their roster of 'dudes to go and beat up'. See what you think of the trailer above...
It looks like we're going to be an interesting cast of both villains and heroes with Psylocke (seen on the poster above) being joined by Magneto while a younger Storm, younger Jean Grey and more all get added to the cast. It will be neat to see if this apocalyptic piece can live up to the reasonable strength of the past two movies which took a jump back in time.
Jennifer Lawrence is also playing a very different looking Mystique as you can see and it's neat to see Cyclops now getting some proper air time considering how important he is later down the line.
What do you think of the trailer?

I’m a little underwhelmed by the trailer, and if my FB newsfeed is anything to go by then I’m in the majority. It seems pretty bogstandard by-the-numbers stuff. To be fair, it’s not the strongest source material that could be taken from the books. Well short of the likes of the Dark Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past. All of which said, it is only a trailer, so here’s hoping.
I think Disney Marvel movies are rather unispired spectacle. I dont think anyone will remember this trash in 20 years, like the way people remember the first Ghosbuster movie today.
This isn´t a Disney Marvel Movie… this one is from Fox
Fox, consodering the lastest Fantastic Four, thats even worse : D
This isn’t Disney btw … its fox … just sayin’
What have they done to Mystique? This looks more like “Katniss meets the X-Men” then an good X-Men Movie. Mystique wouldn´t hide her true nature… I don´t like this part of the trailer…
Best part about this trailer is watching someone turn into Patrick Stewart.
Haha! 😀
i’ve loved all the X-men movies up to this point but i have to say this trailer is leaving me a bit worried for this one
I couldn’t remember which movie had the guy in the desert with a pyramid at the end, now I realise it was the last X-Men movie. 😀 I kept expecting him to pop up every time a new Marvel movie was announced lol, and then I forgot about him. There’s too many damn comic book movies! It makes it hard to care when a new one comes out.
Avengers Ultron was uninspiring and I have a feeling this may be too. I hope not, but I will curb my enthusiasm and keep my fingers crossed as I was always an X-men fan slightly ahead of the Avengers. Thank goodness X-Men: The Last Stand never actually existed. Never I say! That is all.
Aawww is the major threat again going to be some vilain trying to get Cerebro and use it ?
Otherwise i’m glad to see Apocalypse able to control his mass and form, but the horsemen don’t seem very charismatic… And putting storm as one of those in her early years sounds like an error to me, the character had many interesting suff in store in its paper version…
??? looks ok’ish.
Isn’t that Psylocke in the pic?
yes it is, glad they are including some of the other characters.
That looked really promising. It’s great to see that X-Men movies can keep that high quality that those got back with First Class. For some reason X-Men movies are those rare Marvel comic book movies that have plenty of good entries that is not made by Marvel Studios.
well it looks better than wolverine origins and last stand, but thats setting the bar pretty low…
so from this we can gather that “never felt powah like this before” leads to total hair loss.
Considering how little hair I have on my head I certainly wonder where all my power is! I just had a buffet in a local restaurant and I barely had enough power left in me to climb into my couch.
And so the avalanche of uninspiring super hero movies continue. Where did all the good movies go?
I don’t disagree. But “good” is in the eye of the beholder. As with politics, economics, etc. …. we get what we deserve. The masses are buying this shite … so … we get more of it.
Also name an “inspired” super hero movie. I have watched the recent Batman films again for example, and as much as people praise them, … I personally am sort of bored by them … I don’t think a “good” super hero film has ever been made. I think the best hero films were made by Akira Kurosawa and everything since has just been a cheap imitation.
All pop culture tends to be shit. All of the gaming companies out there have hollow, silly, cheesy, crap … so if you want to be cynical and a killjoy … you can do it about anything you want. The classics are all over rated, pop culture sucks, … ok … so … um. What is the point? Make your own culture is the only answer. Good luck with that.
Again I don’t disagree but what is “good” is as subjective as it gets. If one gets fun/joy/pleasure from something and feels it is a good value … then enjoy it … who are you or I to condemn others for just living life and having fun.
If you don’t like stuff … don’t watch it … don’t feed the beast … go in a different path.
I love Oliva Munn … but I can’t see her in this sort of film … but hey I don’t blame her for taking the gig. I’m sure the check had ALOT of zeros in it.
I honestly haven’t enjoyed any of the xmen films. The marvel films, while not perfect, are really good (for screen adaptations of pulpy comic book stories that span the range of craptastic 60s/70s cheese to grimdark indie era … with a wide mix of awesome to shite … ya try making a mass market film based on that … lol).
I think the Marvel films, and the first two recent Batman films, are about as much as you can hope for. The bigger the story, the more characters, the harder it is to pull off. I think Civil War is looking good, I think Xmen is just flat out too complex from the get go and unless they just completely nail the casting, screenplay, etc. etc. it is going to be nearly impossible to pull it off in a typical Hollywood blockbuster format. They can either dumb it down and go campy, or hand waive and make crap up from scratch … or … do what they’ve done with most of the Marvel films which is focus on building to the more complex plotline films. Even with the Marvel stuff though, look at age of Ultron, they have run the risk of putting too much in a single film. It is a tall order.
I personally think that the best formula so far for this sort of thing is what Peter Jackson did with the Lord of the Rings (not so much with the Hobbit, but I don’t fully blame him for that, he had a rough go of it due to the litigation, compressed timelines, and honestly just less to work with with that part of the story).
Anyway I am ramble-ranting here …
The age of geek is upon us all … being a geek is as mainstream as it gets these days … we are going to see geek stuff continue to get mainstreamed … including continued adaptation of popular comic series. These studios are going to crank crap out while the trend is hot … until the masses get bored and move onto the next trend in entertainment.
*crawls back under his rock*
More super hero films? Yawn.
Super heroes. The new spaghetti westerns
I have to disagree with that. Thing about superhero movies is that unlike westerns those can have several different genres. For example first Captain America is adventure movie while Captain America: Winter Soldier is spy movie. Dark Knight trilogy that so many love is series of crime movies but with superhero. Those have so much potential that those won’t become stale like westerns did.
I think you’re missing the point.
And yeah, they will become stale. Just like anything that gets done to death, people will get bored and start to switch off. I already have.
This film looks great, what the heck is all this negativity, it continues a great story, and brings in an all powerful being, Katniss – essence! I love the darkness that comes with saga’s, because the story grows older, wiser, and blacker as we do.
Looks good… For an X-Men movie
(still leagues better than Batman V Superman 😉 )
