We played the RPG mod of Gloomhaven instead!

Its basically Gloomhaven but without the legacy stuff that changes the board/map. It’s more RPG than the standard game, each character has their own story and a shared group history that we wove together, how we met etc.

We’re playing a group of mercenaries, who came together during an attack on a caravan. We defended the caravan and drove the raiders off. Recognising that we were collectively strong we stuck together and made a bit of name for ourselves in the town.

Essentially we played the intro/ tutorial mission, though with Steve’s own story. This allowed the group to get our heads around how the game played, and how it differed from the standard version of Gloomhaven (for those of us that have played it). It may continue for a while… as it’ll probably be a couple of months before we can get back to our standard DnD sessions…
