@limburger the Roman pantheon was really just the Greek with a new lick of paint. @onlyonepinman makes a good point as well that Egyptian mythology does not really feature much in the way of the heroic mortals & demigods that keep folks coming back to the Greco-Roman myths.
I wonder if when they get past Ragnarok that Monolith may have to get creative – I wonder if they may end up having to do Egypt as a much smaller expansion, but could be just one of several smaller projects. I’m thinking a conversion kit for Rome, maybe featuring minis of the more obviously Roman elements, a set for Mesopotamia perhaps? Or maybe something for the Celtic mythos? Otherwise they would need to look much farther a field – Japan, China and India are rich veins to draw from, but there’s a lot of material that could be drawn from the Meso-American mythologies as well. To say nothing of the myths of Polynesian people, and sub-Saharan Africa.
Certainly I reckon if Monolith want to keep the game fresh, competitive, and (eventually) actually brought to retail, they could do worse than look at smaller more focused releases for Pantheons less well known to western audiences…
