In Warmaster,  all units are composed of 3 bases (4cm x2cm), with two strips on each base.  Except for monsters, chariots and artillery that have one model on each base.  Note that certain monster units (like giants) are made out of one base only.

For other systems, just use 2 bases that will make up 40mmx40mm – and you’re fine.
