I had a great time at my first UKGE, so much so that it’s going to be a struggle not to try to go every year (a daunting proposition considering the fact that I live in Oregon).

I used the opportunity to pull the trigger on a few games that I had been contemplating getting into, mainly Guards of Traitor’s Toll and Hairfoot Jousting. I also picked up SAS Rogue Regiment, another game I’d had my eye on for a while, and picked up some Time Travellers and Colony 87 models from Crooked Dice.

My other fairly big purchase was all the new rulebooks and a few packs of models for Dead Man’s Hand Redux, and a small town’s worth of mdf buildings from Warbases — I guess I’m getting back into Dead Man’s Hand…

I had an interesting limiting factor in that I had to think about how much stuff I could reasonably fit in my luggage, so I tended to prioritize things that would be harder to find back home.

The SAS game box was really bulky, but after I punched out the counter sheets there was about 2″ of space at the top of the box for smaller stuff. Shucking all the single models from their blister packs helped too.

Oddly, the only thing airport security gave us any hassle about was the card packs for Dead Man’s Hand — I guess they looked suspicious on the x-ray machine.
