Wanted a 6×4 Normandy inspired table for a playtest and decided to do one loosely based on the terrain around the Bures farm bridge over the River Dives that 6th Airborne blew up on D-Day. Wanted a river as it’s always good for a playtest as they tend to force limits on movement and choice.

It was also a test in an idea in how to use a Cigarbox mat to create a sunken river. I photographed the build stages to show how it’s done, as all the scenery is drop on items.

That’s a brilliant idea for the river, never would have though to have done a board that way. So much extra depth to it but still easy to break down and move. Very well done sir.

Table looks phenomenal. I love how it all the drop on items fit and built such a natural looking scene.

    That looks phenomenal.

Do you mind if I ask what the water segment is made from? Is this a case of resin or did you find something that gave the effect?

Its just gloss varnish over brown paint on hardboard.
