I saw DS9 at the same time Babylon 5 was broadcast.
I must say that initial seasons of DS9 were great. Lots of internal conflict and local bad guys.
It started to suck when ‘the founders’ were introduced. Some day I will track down B5 and watch that show in full.
April 9, 2019 at 6:01 am #1374564@limburger I did watch both and B5 didn’t age well… their heavy use of 90s CGI is….. you really need to look past that 😉
April 9, 2019 at 6:25 am #1374566I seem to remember some excitement about how they rendered Babylon 5 back in 1993. My university had a very special showing of it. I enjoyed the show and the spin off Crusade. But yes, it’s in need of a decent remaster.
DS9 is the series I always say is my favourite from the star trek universe. Trouble with Tribbles should be taught at film schools.

Night shift almost done. Phew! Im not feeling sleepy either. Some mothalovin hobbay when I get home. Woooo! Ive had a coffee…
I loved both B5 and DS9 but B5 with the effects has not aged well and like @woldenspoons said it did not age well.
Trouble with Trubbles like @sundancer and @woldenspoons have it right with that awesome episode.
@limburger I found, contrarily, that the Dominion War made things very interesting moving forward.
April 9, 2019 at 9:09 am #1374576@sundancer ah! sticking paper is a pain… when I helped my dad build model railway stuff, we would have made buildings from card and special paper that had brick or stone or roof tiles printed on them…(the only wargaming company i can think who do something similar is Sally 4th, who have print outs you can stick to their MDF buildings and look amazing)… anyway, after gluing that card and paper used to be put under a load of Encyclopedia Britannica to weigh it down and it was left for weeks, if not months before it was used, which is possibly the reason I leave things to dry for much longer than I really need them to do.
The only thing I think helps is to let the glue soak a little into the paper before you put it down, similar to letting wallpaper paste soak into the paper before you put in on the wall.
April 9, 2019 at 5:58 pm #1374929@mage I think it was kind of running out of steam by that point.
The one thing that set DS9 apart from the others was that it could focus on local conflict (primarily Bajor politics, religion and the end of war with Cardassia).
The Dominion war was too big a deal. The ‘troubles with tribbles’ episode was kind of fun, but it did make one mistake : it forced the ‘classic’ Klingons to become part of the setting. Up until that point it could have been explained as ‘effects on a budget’.
