October 11, 2022 at 3:23 am #1783481My 30 minutes today . Tomorrow I will basic base it and move on to . . . something completely different.

Sorry to hear about your grandfather . I know it was a big blow for me when I lost mine. I am glad to see you got back to the painting table . By the way what line of miniatures is that otter from?
Best of Luck !October 11, 2022 at 12:59 pm #1783600They are Burrows and Badgers models. A nice change of pace from GW stuff.

He lives just around the corner from the pub where I go for “jam nights” on a Thursday. So when he twitted that he’s fallen out with Speed Paints I offered to buy them off him and popped round his house.
A thoroughly nice bloke.
October 11, 2022 at 5:47 pm #1783658@alfonsothetraitor – those shields look great! Nice work. I love the old school black lining effect too.

As promised I basic baesed the Aztec and what the hell I have had this on my desk for a few years and thought it’s time to finish it up. I mean it is Orktober after all. ?October 12, 2022 at 3:53 am #1783725After all the Aztecs I did a double take with that Ork.

Laid down the basecoats for the leather and her toe nails
October 14, 2022 at 4:47 am #1784118Got a little painting done not much but I did get some magnets placed for the flying stand. I cut the flying stand about 30’ angle so I can do some posing for the copter. So with the posing you can make the copter climb, bank left or right, and dive.

Here is a photo of the flight stand that I cut at a 30’ angle and ca glued a rare earth magnet to it . As far as the copter I glued the magnet in between skids I did not drill a hole and recessed the magnet because you would not get the bank pose because the skids would get in the way.October 14, 2022 at 8:49 am #1784151That’s a great idea for posing the ‘copter!
I have been doing my 30 minutes a night, as promised. But I had a bit of a hissy fit and refused to take any more photos and threw my cheerleaders in the bin because the Speed Paints I’d swapped out for Contrast just didn’t look right, next to my (contrast-painted) elf team.
But my wife insisted I should paint more female models as she said there was something a bit homo-erotic about only ever having rows of muscular rippling male flesh in 28mm. So I went for something a bit different. And with contrast/speed paint, I thought it would be perfect for painting some of the Blood Bowl crowd/supporters.
And now my wife thinks I should stick to painting muscle-y dudes and forget about having a hoard of supporters as “set dressing” for my Blood-Bowl-lite game after all.
I’ve got family visiting this weekend, then I’m off on holiday next week, so not sure I’ll be able to do many more of these 30-minute-a-day sessions. But have loved it so far – can we do it again some time soon?
October 14, 2022 at 9:00 am #1784161@blinky465 next time you could paint some “damsel in distress” minis from Heresy Miniatures…. saves a lot of painting time because there is little to no clothing to paint 😉
October 14, 2022 at 12:42 pm #1784225@GrendelPrime that dark red for leather is a really nice look – I’ve never managed to get away with it, but it looks really nice ! Did you paint the straps black before brown/tan? (it looks like the teeniest hint of black-lining around them making the straps pop).
