[Blatant copypasta]
Welcome to the fourth (hopefully not last) monthly painting competition (PaintComp) down here in the forums. Taking a page from @warbossd gaming club book as inspiration there will be a key word or phrase set at the start of the month and anybody how likes to participates paints something up, builds something or what ever creative outlet strikes them
Then, not later than the 25th of each month you post your results here (not in the project system!) and we all get to do a community vote on it!
There are no prizes involved, only fun! It’s not mandatory. It’s just for fun.
Given we’re officially in the best half of the year, the keyword for this month is:
Spooky
September 29, 2025 at 2:44 pm #1945099September 29, 2025 at 5:27 pm #1945112I think I have some models which can fit the challenge. I’ll have a look when I return from my holidays in Sri Lanka in three weeks. I than have a couple of days to finish it before I leave for Spiel in Essen.
September 29, 2025 at 6:58 pm #1945113I should have guessed. Of course it was always going to be Halloween based! Nice.
Given we’d had
- Beach
- Mountains
- City
I was holding out for countryside (maybe rain/sunny weather).
But “spooky” could be fun too. I’m off to my local FLGS to buy some black, purple and orange acrylics….September 29, 2025 at 10:02 pm #1945127Perfect. I was just sorting through the remaining minis for my Silver Bayonet 1850 project last weekend. Plenty of spooky stuff to go at in there.
September 30, 2025 at 12:56 pm #1945168Romper stomper bomper boo! I got no ghosts but we have you.
A belated congrats to you @gorram and I look forward to everyone’s entries.
I missed out last month but I think I have just the thing for this month’s theme. I’ll leave previous work to be finished later in order to be fair for the competition. With my work schedule I’ll break this down into some mini (mostly manageable) marathon paint sessions on Saturdays.
September 30, 2025 at 6:34 pm #1945226Spoooky it is, I’m gonna have to get the cogs turning. It might be another printed entry; I’m not sure I have anything that would quite fit the bill on hand.
September 30, 2025 at 7:50 pm #1945240I had another idea but as soon as I wrote the thread title I realised that we get to go with easy choices for the first year 🙂
I have a load of the Bad Squiddo models from the My Last Sunrise 2 KS *checks* 2 years ago… woof!
October 2, 2025 at 11:32 am #1945390One or two ideas, not least a few half painted models in the Silver Bayonet pile. I’m hopeful I can play this time.
Happy spooky season yers.
October 3, 2025 at 10:39 pm #1945552The weather has properly turned dark and stormy here so this weekend, complete with weather warnings, seems like a good time to go digging in the collection for something spooky.
October 4, 2025 at 12:16 am #1945554First negative weather promised here on Sunday. Motorcycle season is probably over … spooky!
I picked up the new Warhammer+ minis (first time I subscribed!), as both the Iyanden Spiritseer and the necromancer box were cool.
The necromancer will be my entry…
October 4, 2025 at 9:05 am #1945566Just today is started to rain like the next great flood is coming. Oh well. Remain indoors!
October 4, 2025 at 10:59 pm #1945618As I have spectacularly failed the last couple of times, I have decided to go all-in and get it done sooner rather than later…

Been utterly obsessed by ArcWorlde at the moment so the Spooky theme felt like a good chance for me to pick up another of the warbands and get some miniatures painted up.
