@pagan8th both Shatterpoint and MCP have had serious availability issues over here too.
Heck, I probably would have bought the Xmen starter if I had found it anywhere.
However, over here it’s pretty much “if it ain’t GW then we ain’t got it”
At least I can buy stuff from companies in the UK without too many issues (#MAWM 😉 )
February 28, 2026 at 5:58 pm #1965844The X-Men Starter is even available on Amazon Canada. Amazon Canada has all the Asmodee stuff, and they usually offer 3 months zero interest.
Canadian physical stores (there’s two or three that I normally use) that have online presences though have the better deals, with at least 15-25% off retail. And loads of stock.
The Amazon price is $132 CAD, the store in Hamilton was $100 that I mentioned before.

- Refresh cycles of game systems. How long should a game be in “one version” before a reboot happens? Should there even be a reboot at any given time or only slow gradually transitions?
I think there’s a difference between a new edition and a reboot. To me, a reboot is a major change in rules, story, or setting. V1.5’s, errata documents, or even a new edition where the rules were changed in a minor way don’t count.
Reboots should be fairly rare. Most games should be left alone and a new game created instead, rather than a reboot. That said, I’m not against reboots as such, just as long as its justified. Ideally they’d be done purely for creative reasons or to reinvigorate the game. I know in practice corporate reasons may take precidence.

There’s a local convention in about two weeks.
I shall prepare my budget for the occasion 😀March 1, 2026 at 12:49 pm #1965895Breaking news at XX o’clock Tokyo Time. The Ministry of Science has confirmed recent earthquakes are not the work of Gollyzilla. They have stated it is much worse… a rock god has awoken!!!!

March 1, 2026 at 2:10 pm #1965903Re: Monarch – Never have I seen a trailer re-using the same snippet that often. oO You sure that’s real and not AI slop?
March 1, 2026 at 2:49 pm #1965906Monarch is a good show. No idea about the trailer above.
March 2, 2026 at 7:57 am #1965999March 2, 2026 at 10:44 am #1966014Instead of going off on Blue Oyster Cult a change in music was my choice. I checked around other artist creations and couldn’t make a decision as to what music to folloow.
The video seems to be the real stuff but slop is so prevalent it’s not off brand to question the source. There’s so much out there that I think it might be a net negative to general human creativity.
The paradox of slop being the byproduct of what might be humanity’s highest intellectual achievement so far and the grey future it produces as human intellect declines. The calculator acts as a crutch to higher human calculation. Spelling and grammar checks are the crutch for those wth crippled language. I’ll not start on gameified foreign language programs as I admit my own positive dopamine kick with a certain green owl. All these things are undercutting the mental stress which demand mental flexing and increase neural development.
It’s sad to think you can’t get a situation like in the story ‘The Machine Stops’ because a movie land of Idiocracy and the rpg Paranoia prevent the brain function. In 2020 we crossed the mental Rubicon.
March 2, 2026 at 6:43 pm #1966100I’m tempted to argue that said Rubicon had been crossed before, especially when you look at the degeneration of media that started when ‘reality tv’ became the thing that killed a channel that was dedicated to music videos.
Heck … music videos themselves used to be works of art that told stories in 3 minutes.
Only thing I can say is that I’m kind of glad that I attended school *before* computers were mainstream and before mobile phones started the descent into brain rot.
Which kind of brings me back to my pet peeve : we need to let go of the idea of ‘official’ miniatures and terrain.
As nice as it is to shut down your brain and simply follow instructions to a 3D puzzle.
I wish we could stimulate creativity more and stop being obsessed by the fictional equivalent of button counting.March 2, 2026 at 8:06 pm #1966116There’s a term for it: “enshitification”. The worsening of everything for the benefit of the global elite few.
I watched a hilarious video of the CEO of McDonald’s try to enjoy his new double burger product, and it was very cringeworthy. I’m sure he barfed after eating the crap. Enshitification, when the CEO can’t even stomach the company’s garbage.
March 2, 2026 at 8:32 pm #1966117March 2, 2026 at 9:24 pm #1966121@sundancer ! Yes, that’s also one I saw – too funny😂
March 3, 2026 at 6:16 pm #1966236Reddit also had someone post a video that was one half the CEO of a competing fast food chain and the other the McDreck CEO.
The former really looked like he genuinely enjoyed the food whereas the other was not as tone deaf as I had imagined him to be, but not exactly someone who actually enjoyed ‘the product’ either.I guess they really must have thought : there is no such thing as bad advertising …
and as it did get people talking that goal was achieved, but it feels like an own goal at this point.
I’ve never been a fan of hamburgers.
Gimme a good ol’ fashioned ‘Frikadel’ instead, especially when it’s loaded with onions, mayonaise and (Hela) curry sauce .Or a goulash croquette … yummy.

I’ve ordered material for my next part of my project. Yet another 1:1 scale thingy to do and hopefully turn into something useful.
We’ll have to wait and see if the results match my dreams or nightmares 😀 -
