Pledge: I have the outlaws in town this week. So it’s going to be a long and unproductive week.
I’ll just stop there.
July 27, 2025 at 5:04 pm #1937834Is that really a pledge or just a fact that the in-laws are in town? XD
Hang in there, they will leave again at some point 🙂
July 27, 2025 at 6:14 pm #1937843I think magnifying glasses are an underrated tool for our hobby even if you got perfect sight and don’t paint to competition standard.
Things get so much easier with the bit of help they offer, but as there is no ready-made hobby-taxed version of these things people are often unaware these are a thing until they need glasses.
All it takes is a bit of effort to look beyond our hobby niche.
Kind of like daylight bulbs/lamps …
I think people also underestimate the effect of (good) bright light as that too isn’t something we don’t have in our homes, except maybe kitchen and in the office at work.July 27, 2025 at 8:24 pm #1937869
Hobby time has been productive (finally got the washes and finished the basing last night). No playing Frosty Grave for me but a sprue of the barbarian minis were interesting. I might pick up some cultists for Verrotwood. In the meantime The Unmade from Warcry will get paint soon.
Reading glasses, yeah the increase in strength of my own prescription is overdue. Can’t we just get those 16k resolution visual implants already? Nuerolinked optical sensors should be here by now considering the abilities of micro data transfer and what can be done with sensors.
@grantinvanman The outlaws?! Those degens from upcountry never can leave well enough alone. Better call in the tweekers for an assist 😆
July 28, 2025 at 8:58 am #1937919but as there is no ready-made hobby-taxed version of these things
“yet” It won’t be long I guess. I mean red grass does extra lamps.
Can’t we just get those 16k resolution visual implants already?
Please no. Those will be on a “pay per month” basis and if you miss a payment you’ll be blind.
Monday. Not having to go to work makes them much more bearable. XD
July 28, 2025 at 7:37 pm #1937996@horati0nosebl0wer I heard there were experiments for that sort of thing. And I think Elmo the Felon is involved as well.
I wouldn’t trust anything his company produces, especially after what happened with their Cybertruck disaster …
So yeah, while it would be cool to have all sorts of enhancements (x-ray vision in colour ? ;)) there’s corporations that will ruin it all. I think there’s even a few horror stories in Cyberpunk 2077 about what corpses can do to your implants in one of the side quests for that game.
Technology can move pretty fast though, so who knows what we will see (ha!) in the future.

@sundancer true, but it would be nice to know where to get something a bit more high quality than the cheap stuff that’s easy to find.
July 29, 2025 at 9:07 am #1938012Good glasses will last you longer than anything “payment plan” bought light cybereyes XD
July 29, 2025 at 9:48 am #1938015If cyber eyes are anything like ring doorbells the battery life will be awful and you’ll find the images are stored in a server in russia.
July 29, 2025 at 5:29 pm #1938128Back from The Red Cross. Donation done.
Head light. Dizzy mind. And now relaxe and chill.
(And remember no Hobby Hangout tonight)

July 30, 2025 at 11:45 am #1938181July 31, 2025 at 1:37 pm #1938313End of the month so I’ve tried to get a few things finished off. I did some more Draugr and the first couple of units for my Saga AoC English army. Perry plastics from the Agincort set. As a few of you will know I’ve been working on a new approach to metallics and these are the first unit using the Darkstar Molten Metals:

I now need to update my Draugr and Saga projects as well as the 2025 Hobby pledge thread.
July 31, 2025 at 4:36 pm #1938413Just had my occupational health phone call about my achilles tendinitus.
Phased return to work in a week and half and reduced walking.
That’s tricky considering my job is postman and I can’t drive.
Up to the managers to figure that one out.
