Warren and Dave are back for more Flames of War Coverage! This episode they give us all an idea of what they're planning to take with them to the Grand Tournament. Will you be joining them there in the hope of facing one or indeed both of our intrepid gamers? Go lay the smack down and walk away with the bragging rights folks!

Ive missed FOW FTW
Can’t wait to see these armies together … and with some paint on em. Good stuff fellas.
Great work on the army lists guys, they sound like they will be fun to play.
Good luck in the Grand Tournament
Just thought Tiffie vs King Tiger, but avoiding those 88’s, a good fight 🙂
Why is it they find the most outrageous screen shots for these things, Makes me look half crazed all the time….
Glad you are back! Good show and look forward to the playtest games.
Great episode guys! Some nice ideas on lists. Cant wait to see your progress up to the tournament and eventually how you get on with it.
Brilliant episode 🙂 I have already sent notes round my family asking for Flames of War for Christmas! Still so long to wait…sigh
Hey Dave try this australian supplier for your dingo’s
http://www.thecombatcompany.com/categories/flames-of-war/united-kingdom/vehicles/armoured.html
its at the bottom of page 1/top of page 2
These people are showing 13 in stock http://www.wargamestore.com/British-Daimler-Dingo-p-17079.html and they’re in the UK.
Thanks guys, it seems at the end of the week they got their stock back to normal in most places.
I will hopefully have them for the next vid and maybe with some paint on them too
Great episode once again.
Dave, list building thread was a very nice idea and you getting in touch with the community is greatly appreciated.
Warren, you should start studying the missions. The differences in set up and reserve rules between missions really mix things up, so you need to know how your force sets up and plays in different scenarios. Also, I’d say it is quite ballsy to run tank list without recce element.
Looking forward to the future episodes.
Great episode guys thx… waiting to see the next ones, the build up tot the tournament… And then most of all I’d like to see footage on the tournament itself (as I would really like to try out next year..)
@Warren: as drowningharvey says, get to know the missions.. I learnt recently that that can be important 🙂
Good luck guys
Oh how I waited for this episode…
Excellent as always!
Warren ,
I was very impressed with your list .(Cool units in a well structured and thought out list.)
The only thing I might do different would be to swap out the 10,5 cm howitzers, for 15cm Nebelwefer rocket launchers. And this allows you points to take Sturm Scout Squad on Motorbikes .(Rocket launchers and Motorcycles are cool IMO.)
I was a bit confused by David list though?
If you take a hero (J.V.) with the R.A.F FAC to make Typhoons air support better, why not take priority Typhoons to capitalize on the bonus?
And asBritish Shermans can fire Smoke, and are not to shabby with direct HE fire , and the hero (J.V.) improves their ability to attack aggressively.
I would question the need for a lot of points sunk in the artillery in the form of Sextons .(Yes I know they are cool!)
But would it be better to get some more Shermans instead? I know how much you like Shermans !
I really like this series.I hope its OK to make some friendly suggestions about your lists.
(I am not an expert by any means , but would like to contribute in some small way.)
Well as with all war games I was let down by the fundamental reason war games are made..
Points. I had to find a way of getting Recce Teams Inf teams and still be Irish Guards.
3 Sherman groups is so many points it make it unattainable, The sextons are there as poor man Sherman smoke makers as well as some bombard (but I’m not holding my breath) its the same with the air support I put it to the max but with every else that needed to go in that had to be lowered.
It is an army of compromises just like Market Garden itself really, it makes a good metaphor of the battle itself.
Its looks the way it is as lesson I have learned make it a must for E&E teams and Inf teams… Its just it loses other things with it.
You should have seen the list when i had the 82nd Airborne in it… shudder
I hear you mate.
There is NEVER enough points for ALL the good stuff is there?
Here is what I would take to max out the hero abilities of Micheal Cain, I mean Joe Vandeleur and his RAF mates.
HQ.
Sherman V CiC, Sherman V 2iC.
Dozer blade for 2IC.
Hero Joe Vandeleur and R.A.F forward Air Controller.
Combat.
Cmd Sherman V, 2 Sherman V, 1 Sherman VC.
Cmd Sherman V, 1 Sherman V, 1 Sherman VC.
Cmd Sherman V, 1 Sherman V,1 Sherman VC.
(All 3 VCs have 50 cal AA. Attach HQ tanks to the platoons with 3 tanks?)
Motor Platoon
(As your list)
Scout platoon /(Column Platoon ?)
3x Universal Carriers.
Air Support
Priority Typhoon.
1750 pts, still only 5 platoons .
I know this list is a bit of a ‘bland’ tank list. But British Shermans are quite good at dealing with most things in my limited experience.
And you get extra Sherman and Firefly (which you like .)
And do not have to wait to get Dingos!(lol.).
I agree your list is more characterful though..
Excellent reference to the winter war doctor
I do try to promote Finland when and where I can.
Their Stugs are great too 😀
Dave and Warren deserve Most Sporting FOW Presenters Awards – I love to look on Dave’s face every time Warren says he has more on the list….
HS129 – the infamous Panzerknacker. Here is a WW2 film of them attacking ground targets – mostly vehicles – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAWHLMIxfUw
The other German panzerknacker was the Stuka variant carrying two cannon. And the most prolific and probably slightly mad combat pilot of all time flew the Stuka -Hans Ulrich Rudel.
Here’s a quick summary of him – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FD7MvO7fww
and a longer version – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Ulrich_Rudel
And the HS129 itseld – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henschel_Hs_129
A Bridge too Far – what a cast! Good luck to both of you guys.
Really looking forward to seeing your practice game and a report on the tournament. Best of luck.
i second that….looking forward to seeing the two lists in a practice game.
Love FOW FTW!
Will you be recording the games and/or interviewing your opponents after each game?
It would be really interesting to see what the comp scene is like for FOW.
good luck guys. enjoying following your progress.
omg thay r back, Great episode once again and good luck
Good luck in the tournament and have fun. Warren remember your storm trooper moves and Dave don’t hold back because as Warren says “fortune favors the brave”
Warren, king Tigers are sooooo cool, I have some in my Kampfgrupe Peiper.
Dave, unless you already have it, I wish you luck getting hold of the Typhoon, I have been trying for over three months now. It is the last thing I need for my Armoured Recce Squadron, which possibly means I have the last of the Dingos you are after, as I have just finished painting them.
Good luck to you both, looking forward to seeing how you both get on.
Dang it, now I just have to watch
My dingo squad came today yay!!!
I had to go to Amazon of all places to find a place that stocked them at the time.. I have been told now their stocks at battlefront are back to stocked so no more worries there 😀
Happy David is happy
I love the Warren and Dave Flames of War discussions. Warren providing the flow and the humour, and Dave with historical details and insights. I feel the relationship is best likened to that of Wayne and Garth of Wayne’s World!
