Infinity 3rd Edition 300 Point Battle Report Part 2
October 19, 2014 by crew
In Part 2 of this Infinity 3rd Edition Battle Report Carlos and Killian continue to fight it out with their 300 Point Nomad and PanO armies.
Things really get into gear now as each side starts taking numerous casualties in what turns into a 5 round grudge match as neither player is going down without a fight!
Want to win armies like in the video?

What would you have done differently?

Good video, I’ll have to go watch the first one too.
Great video. I loved the outcome! Corvus belli, I know you mentioned that your target audience for Operation Icestorm is new players like myself. This is great and what you have put together is awesome (especially thanks to BoW Infinity week). My only suggestion is to please put easy to find/ basic Miniature construction instructions in the Icestorm box or on the website.
Perhaps something as simple as you will need these tools and/or here are some tips like wash miniatures first. I am new to the hobby and was a tad overwhelmed while trying to figure out what steps to follow in order to prepare my miniatures for assembly and assembling them. Actually spent most my free time getting all the information I needed (new baby so had to steal minutes here and there), which resulted in me not being able to play my first Infinity game today. So first thing tomorrow I need to go buy the tools I need and have a go at assembling with what I know now.
I know it may be the norm for players to rough it, but you have done such a good job with providing information and rules to the community. I thought this was a missed opportunity since IceStorm is meant to draw in new players. That said, Loved the box set (wish counters were thicker…will need to upgrade asap) and I am very excited to play my first game of Infinity and get deeper into this hobby! Thank you for the gateway 🙂
PS: If I want to keep my miniatures with that tab on their feet for now… Do I cut out part of the plastic base or something? I plan on rebasing later once I figure out how to make cool bases or buy them. Also will getting a larger base size break the game (especially if I play with someone with normal base sizes)? Thanks everyone at BoW and Corvus Belli!!!
To answer your question about bases, yes it will skew the game and be against the rules. The Infinity minis have specific base sizes and are regulated by the rules, CB actually did a whole bases update several months back. The reason for the importance is that measurements in the game are made from base edge to base edge in the upcoming N3 as well as in the quick rules used by OP:Ice.
First of all….Welcome to INFINITY!!!!….And yes you must cut space in the bases for the tab that actualy helps to fix the miniature to it And you MUST keep the size of the base as it is because they are used for measuring distances to MOVE, SHOOT….And also for checking if said miniature can or not fit somewhere in the table…Have a Blast and Enjoy!!!! 😀
Hi. You cannot change the size (diameter) of the base since it affects the game. Each figure represents a troop with a stat, and by changing the base size you are changing the stat too (silouete). In terms of movent it affects the corridors you can access, the amount of figures that can potentially sorround you etc.
If you plan to rebase, I suggest you use slotted bases (they are dirty cheap on ebay or any wargaming store). You can gently bend the metal thing that joins the feet and put the miniature in the slotted base so that it stands up. When you get your new bases, it will be easy to take the mini out of the base, cut the metal thing and glue/pin the mini to the new base.
However, you will probably spoil any paintjob during this process, so donn’t paint the mini until you have put it on its final base 🙂
Cheers
Welcome to Infinity!
I’d recommend that you check out the forums, they are very helpful and friendly. A simple post of ‘how do I prep and assemble the Icestorm set’ would get you multiple answers from the community before you can change a diaper (congrats, btw!) and check back!
Cannot wait for my copy of N3. Great battle report guys, always great to see Carlos. This has been an amazing week overall. Infinity is going to be THE big skirmish game of 2015, hands down.
Awesome battle report how you guys do more
Loved the videos this week. They’ve convinced me to take the plunge and grab some Nomads & I must say I’m not disappointed. It’s been a really long time since I’ve enjoyed painting minis as much as I have the O:IS Nomads & Iguana.
I am still waiting on my preorder of Icestorm. These videos have me chomping at the bits to get into this fantastic game. Excellent work BoW and Corvus Belli
It seems that now, with the new threshold, that a list with a Jotum has become quite difficult to send into Retreat! without some dedicated anti-armor units spending a good bit of time to down him; even with a hacker as good as an Interventor. If you look at the numbers through out the battle it was mostly luck that gave Carlos his success (not to call him unskilled). WIP 13 and BTS 9 is hard to crack. To fail the possession BTS roll you’d have to get 5 or less, which Killian managed to do spectacularly, only a 25% chance.
great game, love the smack talk. killian missed using his ad guy .
Thanks for the Infinity week. With this game, you needs Infinity weekS!
Great match!
now it seems that there is finally a reason for having a medkit on a doctor. that new pistol sounds fun
What happened to the Akalis commando?
I was thinking exactly the same thing. Killian you fool! Victory could have been yours!
Well played!
Great battle report!
I like the presentation of the battle report. The end of turn bits from each player is a nice idea.
Love battle reports. Keep em coming!
Nice Battle report been fun to watch gives a better insight in to what the game offers when you play.
Good stuff, it’s nice to see the new mechanics in action. I love how competitive Carlos gets too, he’s clearly not bored of the game despite spending so much time working on it and promoting it.
Excellent battle report – worthy final to a great week of Infinity (sounds odd).
I wonder if they did another game on that Haqqislam-themed table?
Would be nice to watch as well.
I will second that as I’m mostly a Haqq player.
Even if I don’t win, I’m still going to buy those packs
…. I probably shouldn’t have told you that
The battle completed.
Not only did Killian forget his Akal commando, he also didn’t use the MULTI HMG’s ammo options. Carlos’ troops simply went unconscious, where they might have been hit by shock ammo and died instead (or by DA in ARO, for thet matter).
Killian! Your Airborne troop, he spent the whole game circling the battlefield from above :). He was supremely confident in your father knight… Or very skeptical about victory…
Great game!
He was busy watching Infinity Week videos 😛
Great battle report – all about the TO camo 🙂 More close ups of miniatures in play would have helped though.
Medikit is a lot better now, Bipandra is definitely worth consideration. Also did I just miss it or did Killian forget about his Akalis?
Great battle fellas. I loved the hacker vs TAG business. I have hackers on the painting table but maybe I need some Nomads as a second faction.
Nice battle report. Its alway sgood to see Nomads lose, except when its to Pan O!
Great battle, Carlos as humble as ever in victory but what happened to the Akalis Commando?
very entertaining batrep, would like to see more in the future. Unfortunately Killian forgot his Akalis, cold have made a big difference in the outcome.
Brilliant report, can’t wait to get my TO camo Spektr in action
Great battle, really nice to see all the changes in one match a last part for this week.
I think Carlos was born to be a WWF villain. He can play some absurdly egotistical lines so completely straight. This was a great way to end the week. I’m really sorry to see it go. Hopefully we’ll see another come the launch of N3.
Great video
Already watched when it was unlisted, best battle report ever ! Time to do moaaaar !
Jotum won’t die! Great batrep
Nice fight i always prefer the nomads (witch they are 1of my army’s) but i was so sure they could win and the misson and the moral fight but it looks like we can not get all the thing but still nice to see them in combat
Thanks guy’s
Nice fight
Good to see the nomads in action
Nice batrep, keep them coming.
Such a great battle report! Fuels my enthusiasm even more
Absolutely epic fellas, thanks for such a powerful batrep ;0)
Man, can’t wait for my copy of OpIce to show up!
Thanks for the report!
Great Battle Report
Great Vid!
Thanks for an awsome battle report! Boarding Shotguns are really dangerous up close with a +6 modifier, looking forward to using them.
Go, PanO!!
Yeah, go Carlos!!
great battle, and Carlos was really lucky with D20!
Great battle report got very tense near the end there wasn’t sure who would win but loved every minute of it thanks very much, i would just like to add one point and thats to Warren, is that Icecream truck going to be in Infinity it could have an aoe sonic attack lol, every time they looked at the charts on the screen during the battle report my eyes were consistently drawn to that Icecream truck lol 🙂
Simply awesome
…Fortune Favors The Bold indeed CARLOS!!!…..KUDOS on the moral victory KILLIAN!!!! (y)
This was awesome from start to finish!
Fantastic batrep, Carlos and Killian did a wonderful job! Very entertaining, I’m reaaaaally hype for Infinity right now (as a matter of fact, a Kamau, Kirpal Singh and an HMG Swiss Guard are already on their way to bolster my O:I PanO… ).
I love these videos. I will be getting back into gaming now and have found my game.
Thanks for continuing past Carlos’ victory to show more of the rules changes.
Go Pan-O!
great battle report, I will be looking at this game and try to get my club into Infinity
I agree with others here, I am new to Infinity , these videos make the decision to buy Icestorm easy, and looking forward to more of the same.
Loving the second part. The Jotum is still really isolated and not being supported – WHERE is that Commando Akal????
Great finale guys! Thanks for a fantastic week!
I might have to watch these vids again when I’m more awake and alert
Enjoyed watching this one whilst breaking out the operation icestorm models to assemble. Carlos isn’t modest in the slightest 😉 a well fought match on both sides and a great intro for beginners like me to the game.
Cant wait to get my hands on the new rules
Interesting!
Intresting battle report, bit long but nice :s
I like how the mechanics of this game work, I am still waffling on buying the rulebook now, or in the summer when I actually will have money
I almost feel that for a starter set that the father knight may be a bit overpowered. Especially considering the Icestorm quick start rules don’t factor in ammunition types. I’ve played the Icestorm mission five a couple times and that father knight is an utter beast, especially with a central king of the hill objective.
It was excellent to see the new rules in action. The Nomads winning was a great bonus as well!:)
always more fun.
Great game, enjoyed seeing the further play through after Carlos’s victory so we could see some more of the game mechanics
Great video, and don’t worry Killian, I’ve forgotten me reserve mini more than once myself.
Carlos is the best game manufacturer promotional guy in the business by the way, brings so much fun and enthusiasm to the demos.Great stuff.
I have to login just to say: -“thank you”.
🙂
cool battle, I personally was hoping to see some action on the forest or the desert tables.
Also it seems that the command tokens weren’t such a big deal, it will be interesting to see how it turns out in the long run
…the back and forth makes a really interesting game…even with only watching…cant wait to get to play myself 🙂
Watching BR makes me want to play more and more. I like to see how Nomads behave in game fluffwise so sneaky and tactically aware whereas Panoceania relies almost solely on her utter firepower. Moreover seeing the rules of N3 in action – even though partially – it’s interesting and thrilling. I cannot help myself with the idea that I had to cope more than to two months to get my hands of the book: that’s insane and a torture against the Concilium convention of the O-12 :'(
So I will part with a twist in a famous quote; the Interventor the badass’ badasses of the sphere. I tried to picture their mastery of the cyberdomain: up there in the sky EVO operator flatlined as antihacker protocol blasted enemy’s ICE, opponent techs turning against them HI, REM, TAG like motionless puppets defenseless… I kept dreaming of a world I thought I’d never see. And then, one day… they released N3!
Nice Battle report. I like that we got to see what a full battle looks like in 3 edition. More Please!
Excelent battle report. We want more!
Great video and game demo!
Regarding last week’s Weekender and feedback on battle reports, I find battle reports most interesting when getting into a new system and because of this reason they obviously need to be clear and explain what’s taking place.
I really like the end of turn thoughts of Killian and Carlos and hearing what their intentions of the next turn was going to be.
Here are some ideas of what I’d like to see in battle reports…
Faction tactics – using specific units.
Tactics for various scenarios.
Maybe a post game post mortem chat between the two players.
Intense! Gosh, this game love it.
Fantastic end to that match. Nicely played guys.
Great batrep
It’s so sad to see N3 Week come to an end. Now to wait two more months for the new rules.
Thanks for the Battle Report
A very illustrating and enjoyable game.
Jot unis are beasts. Could you have hacked the knight in combat and saved the brigada?
I learned a lot from this BatRep. Thanks guys!
the game looks so much fun. I think its time to pre order
I think it needs to be infinity fortnight next time.
the game had some good swings to it.
Ha double crit hit lol
Lovely end to a lovely week! Thanks everyone.
well played and nice vid.
Once again great battle report, I can hardly wait for more N3 goodness.
Red
Hackers are wizards? That’s cool.
Fantastic battle report. Shame I don’t have any local players
Great Battle Report, I agree with what you guys said on the weekender that you should definitely do more 😀
It was very enlightening to see the new rules in motion, and Bostria’s comments were very funny.
I’m really a huge fan of these battle reports, not only are they entertaining, but Carlos and Killian do a great job explaining why things are happening. This is very informative to new players like myself!
Have only been in the table top hobby for a month now, practising my painting and and assembling on ‘hand me downs’ and I felt I was finally ready to take the plunge into one wargame that gave me multiple play style options. I must say. Infinity has done that for me :’)
Thank you for a great set of Vids and superb entertainment , Carlos is a great guy to game against . really enjoyed …
I think Killian forgot de akalis???
cool BR looking forward to see more ^___^
already preordened the N3 manual … can’t wait to jump in the page and discover all the new’s
tnx BoW
Great battle report.
I really like this battle report a lot. Though, I can’t believe Killian was not in retreat with only two models left…
That was well played gents.
That was a great battle report, well done to both players!
That spektor was ouch!
Looking forward to getting stuck into some infinity once my starter set arrives.
The new Infinity models are beautiful. I can’t wait for the new rulebook(s)!
Great ending to a GREAT week. I love infinity week.
Great battle report and a fantastic end to the week, looking forward to N3 and any more coverage BOW give it
A great end to another great Infinity week. Keep the excellent Infinity coverage coming!
Everybody is playing Infinity and I’m sitting ehre waiting for my shipment of bases -,-
okay, I buy the english book I’m totaly sold to this rule set.
When is the next Infinity week?!
I’d have put the Healer more central, so she could more quickly get to wherever needed.
Give me that Jotum!
Nomads reign supreme!
Top game there chaps
Good game guys, cheers!
Good game guys ! Can’t wait to try it myself.
Cheers !
What can I say this was great battle report
The healing at range action was a nice surprise. Perhaps my doctor will actually start to do some medical practice herself instead of just letting the remotes have a go.
The Old Man in the Mountain is watching you.
a little cheatin’ on suppresion fire aro :>
I will say I didn’t saw anything, cause’ it’s good to know how suppresion fire work now 😉
Nice BR, would love to see more!
Great battle report.
Neat game. Pretty much looks like the ones we play so seems like we do it right.
Holy crap! That specter was a fury! Imagine what it could do with a few deployable reperater!
Great video and terrain is awsome!
A really enjoyable battle report. I’m roaring to get some more of my friends recruited into infinity. I’ve always admired the models and collected pan-o figures especially, but man… Might have to get some more nomads after i finish my icestorm mini’s…
Great video.
Carlos started getting a little serious towards the end.
Where has the combat jump unit gone?? I am sure there was one at the beginning, wasn’t it?
Loved the videos, kids likes them too, looks like Infinity for everyone!
This week was just awesome guys thanks! (^_^)
Really like this style of battlereport. 🙂
Great conclusion to an epic battle report for what is currently my favourite game 🙂 well done guys but more of the same please. I like the way the tactics were discussed and definitely watch battle reports to pick up hints and tips. Seeing the rules actually used and applied right in front of you is great for learning a new game if you don’t have some experienced players to show you the ropes.
These bat reps have been so good so far. They’ve definitely got me more excited for the new rulebook.
How easy is Infinity to get into for a beginner?
That depends, I really love it but it is quite intensive. 3rd Edition is being released soon which is supposed to be better explained but 2nd has some pretty large amounts of special skills equipment and timing.
I’d say the rules (without commenting on tactical depth) are much more in depth than say X Wing or 40K, both of which I enjoy. Go take a look at the infinity pages and you can watch some getting started videos which give you an idea and all the 2nd ed rules are online.
Hope you decide to play as it’s the best wargame game for my money.
Great battle report guys, lotta fun!
At the end of Part 1, I was very worried about the possessed Jotun. Those Command tokens are not to be taken lightly.
fantastic vid.
I have a question in terms of templates. Around minute 23:00 Carlos moves the Spectre and Killian has ARO`s. On with a template. But it aappears the template doesn´t reach the Spectre in his final position, so no ARO.
But the template reached the Spectre on his way towards the building. So why didn´t the template hit?
WHen shooting there is no cover because in the moment on the shooting the Spectre would have no cover. The same should be for the template.
Didn’t the commando come on in game one scatter and have to enter from a table edge or am I getting my battle reports mixed up…I watch far too many to be healthy i’m gonna have to go back and watch the first part just to be sure I can’t see a player of Killian’s calibre forgetting a troop (*cough cough*) I can see Carlos “forgetting” to mention it though haha that man is so funny.
From what Carlos said, are all medikits going to have that ranged/pistol effect-or is it just going to be the doctors with medikits that will be able to do that?
Really enjoyed this. Love the overlord tactic, the idea of the suit being hacked and decimating your enemies troops is fantastic!
I think some closer shots would have helped a little.
interesting terrain choses.
Great Video guys Carlos and Killion look like great guys to game with
Is it only me, or do the Hackers really seem useless in N3? Everything he does ist cleared with a command token or 1 Order and the TAG/HI is ready to go again … and that after applying the effekt is much harder in the first place thanks to FtF Rez-It and massive BTS-Values on the hackable Targets …
Jotum should be BTS 3 or at least 6 to be a counter to the massive ARM10 …
Very nice BR. Thanks guys.
Cheers for all the videos in the week, looking forward to N3!
Great battle report – I agree with @hedleyb about getting close ups of miniatures as the battle is going on. It might be disruptive to play so perhaps during the breaks. I am still learning the game. I found setting up proxy mini and rolling out the fire fights while pausing the video fun and helpful.
