Classic Chaos Miniatures Return For Warhammer: The Old World
January 6, 2026 by brennon
Games Workshop are bringing some older miniatures back to the tabletop for use in their Fantasy wargame, Warhammer: The Old World. Classic Chaos Sorcerers and more are coming out to suit classic armies.

One of my favourites is the addition of this classic Chaos Sorcerer with their Familiar. I remember seeing this fellow for the first time in White Dwarf and thinking they were absolutely awesome. The design is very much in keeping with the Chaos artwork of old, mixed with plenty of screaming faces on the staff, within the book and on the Familiar itself.
I really like the twisting tentacles coming out from within the robe to clasp the book. A really nice miniature from the back catalogue.
More Chaos Magic!
As well as that classic Chaos Sorcerer, you can also get a selection of older miniatures, drawing on the winds of magic to destroy their enemies.

You have the armoured warrior with sword and staff at the ready. I sense they are probably a follower of Slaanesh. You also have the slightly more rotund individual on the right, who was probably at one point a Warrior Priest before giving themselves over to the Chaos gods. I sense those bags are filled with gold that he has stolen from coffers.
Last but not least, you also have the fellow absolutely covered in skins. He even has someone else's face on his own face! He seems like he would be excellent for inclusion in a Mordheim warband alongside the Possessed.
Thundering Hooves & Slavering Jaws
If you're seeking to run your enemies into the ground then you can also get your hands on the classic Chaos Chariot too.

Two nightmare steeds draw a bladed chariot, laden down with armour. In the back, you have the driver who could also be used as a standard charioteer, or you can upgrade them into a character if you like.
You can also unleash the hunt in the form of the classic Chaos Warhounds. Much like the first miniature, the Chaos Sorcerer with Familiar, these were in the same White Dwarf and I absolutely loved them.

I really like(d) the horn design with the bone poking out from the sides of these creatures. You also had miniatures in some super fun poses, leaping and cavorting as they charge into battle on the tabletop.
All of these miniatures will be available for you to pick up very soon. Will you be getting your hands on these classic figures?

Not 100% sure but I think the bases are to big XD Love the screaming Chaos Sorcerer
The 3 pack is a win. Chariot was dated back then lol.
If they really wanted to get at my wallet, they’d go back to the Realm of Chaos days of the late 80’s and early 90’s. So many different designs to chose from.
Lemme guess: They are plastic or resin and cost 3-4 times as much as the original metals did.
Some awesome classic sculpts full of character, dread to think of the pricing though!
