Mantic Drop Teaser Trailer For New Game, Kings Of War Champions
March 7, 2025 by brennon
Mantic Games dropped a teaser trailer this week for their upcoming Fantasy wargame, Kings Of War Champions. A rank and flank wargame, the focus feels like it's going to hinge on the Legends mentioned in the trailer, which you can watch above.
Kings Of War: Champions // Mantic Games
Here are the Champions that we've seen so far who align with the various factions of the Kings Of War Fantasy world of Pannithor...
The Bloody Cardinal // Kings Of War: Champions
Alanis Sallustis // Kings Of War: Champions
La'Theal Voidheart // Kings Of War: Champions
Jorden Talensen // Kings Of War: Champions
We've not got much more information than this at the moment, but because it's a rank-and-flank game, could it potentially be Mantic's evolution of the Ambush rules for Kings Of War to bring in characters like these here to give the faction a proper focus?
I'm sure that this one is certainly intriguing for Gerry, who loves all things Mantic. We shall have to see what they have planned, as it's not far away. April is just around the corner...
What do you think of this tease for Kings Of War: Champions?

Need to know more about it. I’ve teetered on the brink of buying Kings Wars in some form, but I’ve not yet seen a two player starter that suits as there’s always one army I don’t find interesting.
Certainly interesting and potentially exciting… Love the Art style
The artwork looks good, Mantic generally does good artwork. it tends not to translate so well into the actual models. None the wiser what this actually going to be about though.
I love Mantic, but they have an annoying habit of creating/hyping games just to let them die a slow death into the aether over time. Kings Of War: Vanguard was going to be the next big thing, ran a huge Kickstarter, then they basically just watched it die.
It looks essentially like Mantic taking the route of GW’s Combat Patrol / Spearhead – Customise the big game to smaller battles, limit the list building to make that bit easier.
Not a bad idea, but I’d hope they avoid box-locking the game. If you want new and old players to get on board;
* Have all mini’s purchasable separately. If I’ve got all the models except the hero, let me buy the hero mini or what I’m missing. If I’ve got 80-90% of the content, I probably don’t want to pay for 10-20% plus cardboard just to be able to play my desired army.
* Give us a PDF of the army list/rules/cards.
This would unlock the popularity, which would lead to more people playing it.
