Grab New Thirty Years’ War Figures From 1898 Miniaturas
September 5, 2025 by brennon
Two new fabulous characters from history have been added to the mix from 1898 Miniaturas for their Thirty Years' War collection. You can now get your hands on 28mm metal figures for Louis II de Bourbon and Henri de La Tour d´Auvergne.
Louis II de Bourbon, Prince of Conde // 1898 Miniaturas
Louis was a famous French military commander who fought during the Thirty Years' War and also the Franco-Spanish War (1635-1659). He was a master tactician and strategist and was celebrated for his triumphs during both of those military campaigns, including his exploits in the Franco-Dutch War.
His prowess as a battlefield commander led by to become something of a target and during the Fronde revolt, he switched from supporting the crown to fighting in open rebellion against it. He was defeated at Turenne and then defected to Spain, commanding their forces during the Franco-Spanish War. A colourful character that could be fun to follow through his career on the tabletop.

The second character that you can choose from over on their webstore this week is Henri de La Tour d´Auvergne, Viscount de Turenne.
Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne // 1898 Miniaturas
Similar to Louis, he was a celebrated French general and was one of only six marshals who were promoted to Marshal General of France. He was perhaps the most famous of the La Tour d'Auvergne family and fought for over fifty years!
Interestingly, he would also be embroiled in the Fronde rebellion and even fought against Louis and his rebellious army. He would also fight against the Spanish for many years, winning glory at the likes of Arras and Dunkirk. Maybe the time is right for another clash on the tabletop between these two?

As well as those two new characters, 1898 Miniaturas has also put together a new set of accessory pieces for you to use when building your Artillery Crews for the tabletop.

This set comes with a lot of bits and bobs, including water buckets, barrels, powder kegs and baskets full of cannonballs. They are all themed to match the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) and the Franco-Spanish War (1635-1659).
Perhaps use these new releases from 1898 Miniaturas as a catalyst to get you started in the Thirty Years' War. Beginning with a couple of colourful characters is a good way to start as it already themes your armies.
