'Shattered Crucible' by David Annandale, previously available in the Legends of the Age of Sigmar anthology 'Fyreslayers' is available now to download as a stand-alone eBook. It's a tale of foretold doom and fiery action as the doughty Duardin face monstrous daemons in the battle of their lives.
"In the heart of the Realm of Fire, the Fyreslayers of the Krelstrag lodge make their home. Amidst a great lake of lava in a tear in the landscape they believe was made in their warrior-god Grimnir's final battle, they go about their business. But dire portents, and visions of destruction, force them into action, and they undertake a long journey to make good on a half-forgotten oath. But when a horde of monstrous daemons bars their path, will they find salvation – or devastation?"

I read this on it’s paperback release in the anthology. As to my favourite AoS tales it is a bit of a toss up between the Manfred Von Carsten/Tarsus Bullheart “Search for Nagash” (it is the first 4 audiobooks and the first half of book 9 of the Realmgate Wars) was the first story that really showed the world off and got me in.
Since then I have also loved the Spear of Lammentations , for lots of reasons (The portrayal of the Dwarf God Grungni being a major one but there are lots of fun stuff in that book) . The other stories that are worth a read include:
City of Secrets (the first ordinary humans story) ,
The novella at the start of Hammerhal & Other Stories (Hammerhal .. I guess) as it has great portrayals of a Witch Hunter of Sigmar and his diverse crew and their opponents the Cult od Tzeench who have set up inside the city.
and Plaugue Garden but it is more if you are already familiar with the story so far as it progesses a lot of characters Story arcs (and initially shows a nice view of what goes on inside a Stormhost’s “Chapter House” in Azerheim.
The trick is to start somewhere and keep reading , the Mortal Realms do have a real flavor and characters, cities and organisations keep appearing in different stoies and growing as they do ….. and lets not talk about warring Skaven Plauge Monks whose main bone of contention is the correct colour of buboes……
I read the title as “shattered cubicle”
A huge rollercoaster of a novel about an office drone’s awakening to a life of adventure, filled with 400 chapters of sizzling gypsies!
