Dadi&Piombo Publishing have released a new blackpowder-era wargame that you can sink your teeth into. Smooth & Rifled is available both digitally and in printed format, covering a variety of conflicts.

Smooth & Rifled - Dadi & Piombo

Smooth & Rifled // Dadi&Piombo

Smooth & Rifles is a skirmish-level wargame that covers the era of muskets, rifles and sabres where the plumes of gunpowder smoke drift across battlefields throughout Europe and over in the Americas. You'll be able to use these rules for playing out conflicts like the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, the Napoleonic War and the American Civil War, plus plenty more clashes of the Colonial era.

The rulebook for Smooth & Rifles contains all of the core mechanics that you need for playing the game. You'll also find army lists, historical background and ready-to-play scenarios that bring the different periods of history to life.

As well as covering classic conflicts that you'll be familiar with, Dadi&Piombo also plan to bring in additional rules variants which extend the system further back in time to the era of Pike and Shot battles.

The printed version of the rules also comes with two cardstock sheets representing an action-point board and your markers. You'll also get rules for generating terrain, and scenarios, and army lists for the period of 1700 through to 1866. More official lists will come in dedicated supplements with the first covering the Wars in North America, which lands in Summer 2026.
