Oathmark 2nd Edition Announced & New Stargrave Supplement
January 23, 2026 by brennon
Osprey Games has announced that a new edition of Oathmark: Battles of the Lost Age is on the way from Joseph A. McCullough, plus a new expansion for Stargrave, his Sci-Fi skirmish game, which introduces vehicles into the mix.
Oathmark: Second Edition // Osprey Games
Oathmark: Second Edition is a revised and expanded version of the mass battle Fantasy wargame that was released back in 2020 and spawned a number of expansions (all of which we've looked at HERE). It will feature new and expanded rules, more unit types and a whole host of revisions that have come from years of player feedback.
As with the last edition of Oathmark, you can build a force focused around a particular race, or you mix your force to include the likes of elves, men, goblins and orcs if you prefer. This all comes alongside the integrated campaign system, where you build your realm and kingdom, fighting for territory and looking to shatter the resolve of your enemies.
I am interested to see what's different in the new edition of the game. I was a fan of the first iteration, and I think it got somewhat overshadowed by the pandemic, which ultimately meant that not many people got to bring this to the tabletop.
New Stargrave Expansion
As well as the announcement of Oathmark: Second Edition, we also have a new supplement coming out for Stargrave, Acceptable Losses.
Stargrave: Acceptable Losses // Osprey Games
Acceptable Losses brings serious warfare to the Stargrave setting. You will be able to form your own mercenary company and then sell your services to the highest bidder. You will also find rules for new military vehicles, heavy weapons, combat armour and the use of military tactics like airdrop deployment, artillery strikes and the laying of minefields.
Acceptable Losses will also come with a load of new solo and cooperative scenarios so that you can play with your friends against other soldiers of fortune. This sounds like it will be fun and should bring with it some great new plastic kits and metal models from North Star.
Oathmark: 2nd Edition is set to arrive on 27th August 2026 and Acceptable Losses will appear in stores on 19th November in the UK and 17th November in the US.
Are you going to be checking out these new additions to McCullough's burgeoning library?

I’ve been thinking about getting the Oathmark rulebooks and a few of their expansions.
Waiting will be the best option for now, because why not ?
I do hope the existing expansions will still work.
Previous sourcebooks for Frostgrave, for example, worked (mostly) I think as they had the same core mecahnics. It will be interesting to see just how different this edition is. But, it sounds like its a clean up rather than a full change.
Glad to see both chugging along! I’ll admit, I don’t play either game, but as long as they keep those sweet, sweet minis coming…
Oh this is a really interesting bit of news. I’ve thought about Oathmark a few times (which may or may not coincide with every time @brennon mentioned it in an XLBS) but never taken the jump. Sounds like the next six months would be a good window to build a couple of armies to try and get people to give it a try.
Oathmark is one of the first two games reviewed for the podcast, and I still remember how boring it was to read. Maybe second edition would be much needed improvement. The build-a-realm thing seems like such a cool feature!
