About the Project
This project is about me getting back into the hobby after a long hiatus. I moved from the United States to New Zealand a couple of years ago and when I come back for Christmas every year, we get in a massive apoc game with my old friends! This year I intended to increase the tank presence of my Krieg army now that the new rules have dropped!

Unexpected achievement unlocked.
So I may have a taken a few years off. Not even sure if people read these blogs anymore since we all use discord. But in the spirit of an old habit, I figured I should cap off (or resurrect?) this old project. I moved states an about 3 years ago, started a new job and got engaged. Needless to say this put the hobby on the back burner for a while.
but a few months ago a found out a few people I knew here actually play 40K. And take it fairly seriously. Seriously enough in fact they wanted me to come with them to the warhammer grand narrative in Atlanta this year.
naturally, having not played since 8th edition, I needed to revamp my army. So two new banblades were added for this very very fluffy event! (Who doesn’t want to rock 3 super heavy tanks!)
adding some new bases (since we now have plastic Krieg!) to all my units. Sprucing up a few old models, and adding in some glow effects I learned to help add some excitement to a normally fairly bland colored army. And below is what I ended up taking to Atlanta.
have to say what a way to get back into the hobby! It was an amazing experience and I even took home best painted for the event!
I’ll have to decide how I want to proceed. I’m also tempted by most of them playing lord of the rings. And being a massive fan of that ip, I might have to jump ship to the skirmish side of the hobby. Although I did just pick up that “new” sweet avatar of khaine. (Hmmmmmm)
A distraction for a friend
So what do you do when your friend is terrified of a model? Well, you build it and paint it for them obviously!
so a friend of mine picked this up last year and was far too intimidated and overwhelmed to build and paint it. They really really wanted it ready for the apoc game coming up so I put aside my detailing and those never ending bases I still need to finish and I took on the challenge of building and painting a Titan in a weekend.
This wasn’t my first. A few years ago I completed both my reaver and warlord so this appeared to be a far easier task. So I set about pinning and clipping many resin bits and took most of the day to get her built from the ground up
Fortunately my friend wanted to pitch in so I had them back coat it and spray it silver in preparation for the painting day to follow.
After this I set about speed painting a Titan. I only had one day to complete it so we decided the interior is out and a 90% airbrush job was in!
I took on the task of moderately matching my color scheme on the blues while my friend took over the task of painting the trim. A quick airbrush of black in the recesses of the silver gave the appearance of grim and 4ish hrs later we had a finished Titan! Ready to stand alongside the 3rd armoured division in the coming battle. She will have to wait for an even larger game before she can stand in the shadows of her kin. But for now. She will certainly be the lord of war for the imperial side!
A project repaired
I noticed I never showed of the finished version of this guy. I had finished this about two years ago when I initially started this blog but I hadn’t updated it. With shipping and storage the old girl had taken a bit of a beating with a few parts coming apart at the seams. Fortunately though, all the parts were there and a few light super glue applications later she was was a good and new! Fortunately it only fell apart at the joints so no parts actually broke! Who here likes filling in resin with green stuff? (Not this guy) anyway while I was repairing, I decided to add a few details such as decals to the crew and the real scale brass shell casings to the gun decks.
Looking forward to finally getting this model in a game for the upcoming apocalypse! I also seem to be able to only post a few images otherwise I get an error message over and over so forgive the limited number of pics!
Medusa complete
Medusa carriage is now complete. I do still need to add the “3rd” decals to their shoulders but the sheets have yet to arrive so I’ll call it done for now.
nice to have this guy out of the way. This should complete my artillery battery for the apoc game. On to 30 bases to complete and at least one other small vehicle! Onwards to the apocalypse!
Comically slow
The shells and one of the five crew is complete. I honestly find it funny sometimes how much slower I am at painting a single figure when I can crank out the entire medusa in close to the same time. Either way. Here is the progress so far. I have all the other crew slowly trying to get through some sort of “batch painting”Decals and dirt
continuing the weathering bit by bit. I was fortunate to get some time Thursday and last night to get a large chunk of the gun weathered up. Still a few details to go but most of it is done! Also had a bit of fun adding signs and a small shovel. Both from the new Krieg plastic kit! Was a bit of fun. I have to say though the old aromaster decals are not nearly as enjoyable. Having to balance to decals on top of either other has been “fun” but I think the end result on the medusa shells has been worth it. Now onto weathering them and it’s the crew next. Hopefully today turns into a productive one indeed!Like the dead, in silence we shall rise!
Finally! The 3rd armoured has been called upon to stand in defense of the Icarian sector! After two years of plague the armies of the apocalypse shall be summoned forth! Lol so a game of apocalypse has finally been agreed upon for the 8th of January. I’m helping set up the rules and the teams and also wanted to get some extra artillery and upgrade a few models for the game! I figured redirecting this old log would help boost my motivation to get through. Hopefully this log will be updated pretty regularly each weekend until the game. And I’ll give writing a battle report a try as well. Here is my progress on the second medusa. Hopefully the full battery can have all its details and crew completed for the game!
