So, GW has not put out a lot of the units and new figures I want for my Sisters army.  I am having to make some modifications to my list, but there are some options I am just making my own versions.  Crusaders for one.  They are very cool, all have power swords, and the old sculpts [if they were even available] look “dated” as a nice way to say is.  So, what is a new Sisters of Battle player to do.  Well, Crusaders can be 2-6 figures in a unit and only have one set up.  Power sword and Storm Shield.  Enter the new Palanite Subjugator Patrol for Necromunda.

Pretty cool, right?Pretty cool, right?

So, I do a little digging in my bits bin and low, I am lacking a serious amount of power swords.  I only have one…  Reach out to my local friends and thank goodness, one of them has this:

Crusaders

So, I start the process.  Here you can see the results so far:

Crusaders

Once I have finished the other 4 I will have a full unit of crusaders from one box of Palanite Subjugator Patrol and 6 spare power swords.  This had the fortunate side effect of also giving me the Power Mauls I needed for my SoB army.

So, I have added 3 more units to the complete list.  I have added a Retributor Squad, another Sisters Battle Squad and a Hospitaller.  Was also going to prime them today, but that did not happen due to bad wind.  Next on the table is my Executioner.  Then I plan to do my last 2 Battle Squads and start the sub-assembly process for The Triumph of Saint Katherine.

I have decided on the paint scheme.  I will start on that shortly and will update as soon as I have more built and once I have some test models done.

Building and priming

Having built about half of the miniatures for the initial part of the project, I have started priming.  I use an automotive primer called Duplicolor Sandable Primer.  It is my go to primer for miniatures.  It gives a very smooth coat without clogging the detail of the miniature and is great in both the white and black colors.  I am still trying to figure out my color scheme.  I am thinking about doing the Order of The Thorn, which is a bone or Ivory colored armor and then Red and Black for the cloth.  The other option is to do a custom Order and go with a grey for the armor and a rich Blue or Purple for the cloth.  Any suggestions would be awesome and I will update and brief you all again once I have the rest built and/or I decide on a color scheme and do a test model.

This is not mine! But this is the color scheme I am thinking about. This is not mine! But this is the color scheme I am thinking about.

Dragon Forge Designs - Reliquary basesDragon Forge Designs - Reliquary bases

So when GW announced plastic Sisters were coming, I was very excited, as by the time I was really wanting to work on a Sisters of Battle army, they were out of production and the after market prices were ridiculous.  So my FLGS ordered me 2 of the Army boxes from last year and I was really excited to get my hands on them.  Still not sure what to do with the extra Codex and cards though.

So I have been waiting on my bases to arrive from Dragon Forge Designs and I went with their Reliquary set which look to be designed just for the Sisters.  I love these bases and the fact they have all the sizes needed for the Sisters, even 28mm ones for the Sisters Repenttia, because we can’t just have them on 32mm or 25mm like most of the rest of the army.

Let me know what you think of these and I will begin the building process.

So it begins...

Sisters BoxSisters Box

I have decided to take the plunge and finally do a Sisters of Battle army.  When they announced the Box sets last year, I ordered 2 of them from my FLGS.  I had not realized that they were a LE single pose set of figures, but that is fine I can deal with that.  My order for phase 1 includes 2 Battle Sisters boxes, 1 box of Retributor Squad and the Triumph of Saint Katherine.  Next week I plan to get the Hospitaller and an Exorcist.

This is my journey and you can come along as you like.
