Infinity Spring Cleaning

About the Project
So…I've fallen in love with the world of Infinity. I've acquired a boat load of their metal. I've assembled quite a bit of it. I started and finished painting up most of the Aristeia! minis. However, to date I've not painted a single Infinity mini. Part of that is because I've been intimidated by what others have done and I want to do the quality justice. Part of it is that I've become a bit overwhelmed with everything I've purchased. So, here's to getting more of what I have assembled (because otherwise I'm likely to repurchase a model/box by mistake) and to getting some of it painted. While it's unlikely I'll have anyone to start playing this with for some time, now is a breather to get at least two armies painted up so that I'm ready to go once I can go out and play again.

Better Jayth pics
I used the same armor scheme as the Shasvasti rather than the orange seen in most of the painted versions. I figured I’ll use the orange for the creatures grown and harvested by the EI (charontid, all the batroids, megalodron, etc.) and keep this consistent.
CA: Cadmus
Again, I painted these fine fellas (ladies?) up pretty much just using the scheme that came in the Vallejo Shasvasti paint box. I did, however, use the same scheme as the tendrils on the base for their breathing hoses.
Aida Swanson
So I painted up everyone’s favorite rogue Aida today. I’ll confess I’m not best pleased with her camo cloak. It was my first stab at camo and so I just winged it. The result in the back is decent but that on the front just looks muddled.
So, if anyone knows tips/tricks/tutorials for when next I tackle camo (or revisit Aida’s) do let me know. Most of what I paint isn’t true military so I have doubtless tuned out a multitude of resources/“Gerry Can”s.
I painted her almost entirely (aside from skin, hair, leather, and guns) with the Vallejo Russian military set which I actually got to use for Ariadna. Figured the colors would work here and it turned out that they were indeed the color tones that I was looking for.
I have also finished all the other Shasvasti troops from Defiance (the Sheskin, Victor Messer, the Gwailo, Speculo killers, Calibans, and Cadmus) so expect proper pictures of them soon. I’m in the home stretch with the Taighas, the Charontid, and the Megalodron before I get to the heroes and then get this to the table. I’m getting excited!
Cadmus One Done
More edge highlighting. Phew!
I’m discovering the key isn’t how thin the line is but how consistent it is. That’s why A) thinning paint is crucial and B) removing the excess paint from the brush are essential. If you don’t do these things you get a blotchy line which they draws in the human eye and breaks the illusion of a consistent edge.
I’ve also discovered that when a consistent, even, pinstripe fails you (or in tight corners where a smooth, long stroke won’t work), 3 or 4 short strokes in series can be equally successful.
Jayth are done!
Some slow going on detail work with these fellas but they’re ready to go do some slaying.
Better pics to follow.
Edge Highlighting
This is why I’m a slow painter. Here’s a reverse timeline from second highlight of the black up through the edge highlighting. I still have some improvement on the last stage but, while it takes some time, for me it really makes these come alive.
Still some finishing touches to go on this Jayth but he’s coming along nicely.
Everyone’s probably seen something like this but it’s a bit of a revelation for me—or maybe it’s just that I wasn’t confident enough to be properly bold on earlier minis.
