About the Project

So…I've fallen in love with the world of Infinity. I've acquired a boat load of their metal. I've assembled quite a bit of it. I started and finished painting up most of the Aristeia! minis. However, to date I've not painted a single Infinity mini. Part of that is because I've been intimidated by what others have done and I want to do the quality justice. Part of it is that I've become a bit overwhelmed with everything I've purchased. So, here's to getting more of what I have assembled (because otherwise I'm likely to repurchase a model/box by mistake) and to getting some of it painted. While it's unlikely I'll have anyone to start playing this with for some time, now is a breather to get at least two armies painted up so that I'm ready to go once I can go out and play again.

Progress is being made

Took a break to finish up my Crisis Protocol collection. It may just be my project that folks aren’t interested in but there was a definitively lower level of engagement there compared to this project. I hope that’s not a sign that Covid killed the game, what with no organized play so close to when the game released. But I digress.

Back at the Pano troops. I shall confess that I struggle more with blue than with red but I’m making slow headway. Multiple passes, each one making these come a bit more alive. Hard to see but the troop on the left has an extra set of highlights than the one on the right. This is an exercise in being bolder as the more extreme I go on the edge highlights the more these pop.

Disco…disco dancing!

And the Iguana makes two. I missed a couple of blue lights and a red tail. I’ll go back in and hit those…sometime. I took an in process shot of the edge highlight (with Vallejo sunny skin) and then one after the wash with red. And the Iguana makes two. I missed a couple of blue lights and a red tail. This one was fun to paint. I used to hate painting black but now i find it really relaxing. The vigilant among you will recognize that there are no unit markings/fine details. I’m waiting until I have enough of each sectorial to make a plan. This one was fun to paint. I used to hate painting black but now i find it really relaxing. On their bases

Nowhere near done but it’s fun to see these on their bases. I’ll find out soon if I regret basing them before painting them or whether the extra care I have to take is less onerous than the cleanup/retouching I had to do on Nomads when I waited until they were painted to base them. More mucking about with bases

I couldn’t resist messing around with these some more. Reddish glow as Pano does and then a light airbrush with a Liquitex sepia ink around the edges to try and create a bit of depth/vignette. Not sure the ink made the small bases better. I do like the effect on the large ones. I couldn’t resist messing around with these some more. While these will be perfectly serviceable, I’m not nearly as excited about them as I was the Nomad bases. They will do for now and, given the speed with which I accomplish projects, possibly forever. I finally got to use some of the stencils I had lying around. While these will be perfectly serviceable, I’m not nearly as excited about them as I was the Nomad bases. Pano Bases

Here they (Death Ray Designs High Tech Sigma) are, base coated with the base Pano colors.

I’m going to use this as an opportunity to try some things out with the airbrush. Try and create some depth/variation without dirtying them down since, as we all know, a respectable member of Pano society would not put up with grime and filth—as long as there is a cleaning bot around at any rate.

…and now Ice Storm Nomads are done.
