Rohan Army build

Have tinkered with these guys over the years but have been afraid to tackle them as my painting skills are not the best in my opinion but here goes!

I need to find a good decal for the banner.  I am definitely not comfortable hand painting them.

If anyone knows of some good ones that are out there for purchase just let me know please.

So finished up these guys tonight.

Based them the same way as the cav.

Now i have to decide whats next.  Once i decide ill post an update.  Should know by tomorrow.

Just need to paint the base and wash.  Maybe a couple of highlights afterwards, but i usually save that for those key hero models or ill do it later if i use a model in Battle Companies

Slowly getting them done.  About 4 more colors to finish up.  Feathers, swd handles Dehneb stone, arrow tips chainmail, straps/belts snakebite leather, helmet gilding and sword hilt/pommel Dwarf bronze.  Should about do it.

I figured i had to have my own Rohan Die and since I was not a fan of the one GW put out figured id have my own made.

Chessex makes some great die and all you have to do is send them a simple one color picture.

I picked up most of my custom die from their Gemini Range!

So digging through my completed Rohan i found that i had already done 4 blue squadron foot bowmen.  So that made it simple for me to just divide the 8 and do 4 red and 4 green squadron guys.

Did notice though for some reason i put brown gloves on the four blue bowmen foot.

Not sure why i did that.  Might have to go back and make them flesh.  Uniformity is important to me.  Or maybe i just say blue squadron wears gloves when they are on foot?  Hmmmm.

So i have finished the painting on the first 8 foot Rohan.  Will hold off basing them until i get the 8 bowmen done.  I already had one blue squadron dismount done so thats why i only did two in this batch.  That gives me 3 dismounts for each squadron.  I have 12 dismounted royal guard painted so don’t need more of those for now.

As mentioned earlier im going with med gray for basecoating from now on to help brighten the darker colors.  For the bowen the two on the left will be blue squadron, 3 in the middle red squadron and the 3 on the right will be green squadron.

So i used the exact same basing technique on the Red Shields as the Royal Guard below.
