Cemetery Kriminal
Next up I’ll be using army painter tones and washes to calm the drybrush down. Red on the coat and hat, dark tone on the skin and trousers then a 50/50 medium and dark tone mix followed by an undiluted soft tone on the bone areas
And finally a Matt coat to finish up
Cleo
Now it’s time to tone the drybrush down with some washes, purple on the purples, 50/50 dark tone and wash medium on the rest. Then in with a soft tone on the ropes and bones etc. Avoid the bright purple as it’s makes it look dirty.
The upstart crow!
Just as I thought I was finished I remembered I’d left the crow off of the end of her staff! With such a slender connection I knew the drybrush step would snap it so I’ll paint separately and attach. Just a black paint, drybrush and dark tone should suffice!
Also I decided the face didn’t look right and when checked again I realised her teeth are showing in some mad grin, quick bit of white and she’s done!
Now And here she is after a quick matt coat.
Really pleased with how she turned out, I‘ve discovered I love painting skull face paint!! FYI Stone Golem is my new favourite paint. It’s a fantastic alternative to a pure white. Also that would be the name of my band If I had a nineties grunge band!!
Zora
Hot on the heels of Cleo, its the lithe witch with the crazy staff, Zora. FYI the skin colour is Vallejo Chocolate brownI forgot to take a picture of the brain matter beige drybrush step but there was one! Then it’s washed. 50/50 dark tone and medium on everything bar The purple and then purple tone on the purple and then a soft tone on everything bar the Warlock purple
Quick tidy up on the base and matt coat and she’s done! Was a bit daunted at fist by all the strapping but the dry brush and washes really blend it all in. Love how she’s turned out!
Jaques Santiago
Thanks to another Friday night hobby session via Zoom the groups big hitter, Jacques Santiago is done! Finally a Matt coat and the big meanie is done!
Marie Leveau
Now originally I had hoped to rebase my original version of Marie but a quick side by side showed that the new sculpt is much larger and admittedly much more dynamic. So it time to paint her, a second time! And she’s done, not 100% happy as I think I made a mistake with the primer colour. Its too dark for the colours I was using so it took way to many coats. Still when in lockdown supplies are scarce!!
Who would live in a house like this!
Now for a long time I’ve been toying with printing out this amazing looking Caribbean church from Printable scenery. So seeing as the world was about to be quarantined I decided to take the plunge! So the print can be found here for the measly sum of $13.95.
Firstly I needed to increase the print size to 114% to scale with my WWX minis. This did mean the files would fit on the bed of my anycubic so I had to chop the pieces up in mesh mixer but all fairly straight forward.
All the bits printed out fine with no supports and all in all took about a week printing in the daytime. Also used about a roll of filament.
Then a good going over with Zandri dust primer, just had enough!!
Now I was unsure how to paint t but then I remembered I had two bottles of Model Mates sitting in a draw from a Salute trip from about three years ago. After seeing how @warzan has been using model mates and water to quickly get scenery finished I thought I’d have a crack!
Firstly I went over everything with a sand brown and then added patches of mud brown.
Once that was done I went in with a large brush and water.
Once all the pieces were dry I hit it all with a Skeleton bone drybrush and some Autumn flock blend from the OTT store!
