About the Project

Im doing a video series on the lore of Malifaux and the related universe! Its a really underrated fiction with a lot of cool characters. Each video will highlight a specific master, and go through their backstory and summarize each story they are featured in. This is meant as a jump off point for people to get into the lore, a summary for people who don't have access to all of the books or don't want to read all of the stories, or just a refresher for people who are familiar with the story but haven't read it in a while.

Ep. 14 Charles Hoffman

Charles seems like a pretty vanilla master compared to the whoremongering serial killers and blind necromancer swordswomen that are typical of Malifaux, but when you go deeper he’s actually a really interesting character. I wonder if they planned out the explanation for his accident 10 years ago, or if they decided that when they wrote the newer stories.

Ep. 13 Jakob Lynch

As far as back of the box pitches go, Jakobs is pretty good. A compulsive gambler, who begrudgingly works for the mob and helps the ancient creature that posesses him to spread its power by drugging people in his casino/brothel. My favorite thing about Wyrd is that they take common tropes that get overused in other fantasy settings, and put a big unique spin on them. Makes me wise the OTT crew would get more into malifaux. I think the stories and setting would really appeal to Warren, and the mechanics and tactics would appeal to some of the other guys.  Too bad you cant actually run a whole crew of bunny cav…

Ep. 12 Titania

Ive finally gotten some Neverborn painted up to do a video on them! Titania is a really interesting character, she defeated the Tyrants in the ancient past but was betrayed by her people and locked in a prison. What kind of chaos will she cause now that shes back?

Ep. 11 Jack Daw

This was one of the harder videos to make, since Jack Daw does not have any dialogue. You sort of have to infer what is going on in a lot of the stories, but I think that’s why he is an interesting character, and he has been requested quite a bit.

Ep. 10 Ironsides

This episode gets into one of my Favorite masters, and some of the most interesting moral questions in the lore. If you watch the video, let me know what you thought about Ironsides decision, and if you would have done the same yourself.

Arcanists are one of my favorite factions, and this episode contains an epic showdown between the two leading ladies. I think these stories really highlight how Wyrd has done a great job with diversity in their stories without making it feel forced or fake. Just well written characters from different backgrounds.

Man this was a big undertaking. I didn’t expect the videos to end up being this long, but her last few stories were dense. She’s a really cool character. It’s nice to see that Wyrd is willing to make such big changes in the lore and shake things up a bit. Some people hate it, but I think it makes the story better.

Expect a short episode next week, I need a break.

Lady J is one of the most requested masters for this series. I knew it was gonna be a big undertaking, so Last week I did a short episode to get a headstart. Turns out, I underestimated how busy I would be cuz of the holidays. So I decided last minute to break it into two videos.

I would estimate that with Lucius and Zoraida, Lady J is one of the most featured masters in the lore.

So after part 2 goes up, I think ill be doing a short one to take a break, but Id love to know what my OTT peeps would like to see from the series.
