About the Project

I will be slowly working my way through painting the League of Infamy Kickstarter. As well as using the League of Infamy miniatures to play League of Infamy I intend to rebase the minis to Vanguard and Kings of War size (where required) before painting. This will also give me some more miniatures to add to Frostgrave.

Scraped, washed and Tamiya thinnedScraped, washed and Tamiya thinned

The 27 minis from last week had any burrs or persistent mould lines removed with Tamiya extra thin cement.  Weapons need straightening and any gaps filled before priming.

Additional 7 scraped, bringing the total scraped awaiting Tamiya thinning to 8.

Scraped and washedScraped and washed

Running total of 27 figures scraped and washed.  The next stage is to use some Tamiya Extra Thin Cement to get rid of any burrs and smooth out any remaining mould lines (Like the obvious one on the hand of the elf on the right).  I’m not keen on using plastic weld so I’m using Tamiya Extra Thin instead.

Gerry (@avernos) has a Cult of Games Gerry Can on this technique:  https://www.beastsofwar.com/featured/gerry-can-show-you-how-to-work-with-pvc/

From there it’s a case of filling any gaps and straightening any weapons with hot water before priming.

Left scraped, middle partially scraped and right still to be scrapedLeft scraped, middle partially scraped and right still to be scraped

Running total of 1 scraped waiting to be washed, 1 partially scraped and 23 (counting the Drakon and rider as 2) bases cut waiting to be scraped.  The kickstarer edition has 2 extra minis for each minion sculpt.

Renedra 20mm basesRenedra 20mm bases

I will be using Renedra’s plastic bases for rebasing.  They are thin enough to relay the cobblestones on and I happened to have them anyway.  I’ve kept the cobblestones I trimmed off the bases for this purpose and will mix in some other basing elements.  All the basing will be done after the mini is painted.

Renedra supplies bases for other companies as well.  I believe Warlord Games and Victrix bases are from Renedra.

I used a 20mm base when I was trimming the existing bases to check the size.

Left hand pile - mould lines have been removed. Left hand pile - mould lines have been removed.

Started with the minis from the core set.  The bases, where required, have been trimmed down or removed and a start has been made to remove the mould lines.

Hopefully the last edit to the first post on base sizes

Edited the Depth Horror Eternal base to 40mm rather than a 40mm underbase. It starts on a 50mm base and is listed in the KOW book as Hero Large Infantry which is 40mm.

Base size list

The League of Infamy miniatures mainly have 25mm PVC square bases, with some 25x50mm, 50mm or 75mm for the bigger models.

From my experience of Dungeon Saga base sizes this is a list from the League of Infamy that I intend to change so that they’re more suitable for Vanguard or Kings of War (still square bases).  Where the base size is bigger in Vanguard/KOW I intend to use a removable underbase, either poster tacked or magnetised on.

Hopefully this list might be useful for anyone else looking to do the same.

Core Set:

  • Glum Slittercreep to 20mm
  • Karzel Runesbane to 20mm
  • Melantha Arveld to 20mm
  • La’theal Bleakheart to 20mm

  • Master Hunter to 20mm
  • Elven Lynx to 20mm
  • Tallspear to 20mm
  • Gladestalker to 20mm
  • Drakon Handler to 20mm
  • Drakon Hunter to 20mm

Wandering Monsters/Beasts:

  • Tribal Warrior to 20mm
  • Guardian Brute 40mm underbase
  • Brock (as a Beast of Nature) 50mm underbase

  • Halfling Infantry to 20mm bases
  • Iron Beast listed as Titan so current base is correct
  • Sauceror, Greedyguts and Feastmaster stay as 25mm bases
