Warlords and an extra
Last but not least were a couple of warlords and the housewife!
The number of figures on the base represents the level of the warlord in Midgard so they are easily identified on the table.
Unarmoured Vikings
I also completed a dozen single based figures to be used in Pillage in particular (and sabot based for Midgard). These were needed as all the figures I had in the Saga Warband were in chain and therefore needed some lighter armoured people for fodder.
Vikings
The next stage of the project was starting on the Vikings I needed to bulk out the forces I had for Saga.
First off the blocks were 3 units for Midgard so 12cm frontage units that can also be used for Hail Caesar with 3 bases to a unit.
They made it onto the table
With the Saxons completed the forces made it onto the table for a game of Midgard playing the “Take the High Ground” scenario from the rule. This was a largish game with ~460pts a side with multiple players. The British were holding the hill and one of their commands were off the table. The Saxons had to push them off the and capture the 3 objective markers on the hill to gain reputation.
The game ended as a major victory for the British partially because the Saxons commanders decided to keep both their heroes and best units in the second rank to “protect” them(they didn’t grasp the meaning of the rules from the full title 😂). The British however used their best troops and heroes correctly leading the charge and creating mayhem.
Loot "tokens"
Finally this for this update were a couple of Loot markers made up of Iron Age pigs and Soay Sheep.
Saxon Commander
With the extra two figures I made a commander on foot for one of the heroes.
Young Warriors
The next up were 4 units of “young warriors” (Geoguth) basically unarmoured warriors with the odd armoured chap thrown in.
Again these were painted in multiple colours but with great skill and dexterity I managed to get a number of those in various hues of blue ended up on the same base (doh!).
Saxon Hearthguard
After finishing off the British it was time to start the Saxons. These are the early Saxon figures from Victrix (with the usual Little Big Man shield designs).
These three units were made up of armoured figures with a mix of weapons.
