Double Pilgrimage

Hey folks! I’m finally done with a workload and here to share a funny project. Some time ago I got commissioned to paint a Trench Crusade Pilgrims warband. Less than two weeks later another similar commission popped up. In order to save time on prep and core layers I decided to link both projects.

One warband was to be painted on my level 4 “Chrome & Shiny”, whereas the other was to be painted closer to tabletop, my level 3 “Fast & Furious”, with a few extras. The idea was to start both projects as one, take all the miniatures to a certain point then, upon finishing the lower level one, take the second warband one level up.

I won’t bore you with details. Easy to say the painting process progressed smoothly and the plan worked. Within a week I had the level 3 warband done and level 4 followed suit in a few more days. A fun experience…

Job complete, both customers happy with the results. This is the life and here’s how it all turned out.

Warband One: “Pilgrimage from Cracow” painted with white-blue Cracow heraldry motive. Level 3 “fast & Furious” with extras.

Warband Two: “Crimson Pilgrimage”, painted level 4 “Chrome & Shiny”, based on ‘moist battlefield ground’.

There’s less than a full level of a difference between the two, but although white & blue motive of the first warband might seem well resolved, these are the two colors that got some extra care. The higher level warband has more detail, more highlights and more layers than the other. The depth of skin, metal and browns is the most prominent, but even details such as the light effects on candles differ. Would probably be better presented if I was better with photos 😛
