Raging Heroes Show Off Their Tough Girl Foot Troops
June 15, 2013 by brennon
The Raging Heroes Kickstarter for the Toughest Girls in the Galaxy had some great heroes but it also promised some regular soldiers too. Check out their previews for them below...
As you can see they seem to be wearing a significant amount of armour, carrying some big guns and generally look all sorts of kick-ass. Better than a lot of Sci-Fi ladies we've seen in the past.
Obviously these are work-in-progress and renders at the same time but considering Raging Heroes track record they should be great once they hit the tabletop.
Has this just pushed you into pledging?

Those are rather good armored ladies.
One army I just can’t afford to start is Imperial Guard…..but these ladies would make such an awesome themed army. Infact sooo many of the sculpts on the ks site are just must haves…
I love the rocket lady….and the Mechanicum style lady…..and the Sniper….and the Heavy weapon girl. If inheritiance ever gets off the ground properly and a Primarch is female….these figures would be perfect……….awesome sauce with cherries on the top…..
Oh my Lord, Inheritance is a great idea for them. I’m backing this KS and what you mentioned didn’t come to mind. I need to make an army now out of the Iron Empire range they have.
The artwork is grand. The models are not imho
If their hips were any higher they would be level with their basketballs.
Pity because I like the poses.
Agree , proportions are completely off … bit like the old gw witch elves. This KS seems pretty overhyped to me ..
Just stumbled on this on the KS site. Seems they may alter the proportions:
“First, please know that we very much appreciate all the thinking you’ve been doing about this. Just as some of you have begun to do, we have also spent a great many hours (weeks, really) dissecting many miniatures from many different brands to analyze their proportions, we made tons of line-ups in Photoshop to compare their size and bulk, and of course, we brought all that into the 3D software to try it on the sculpts.
But all your comments have been enlightening for us, and helped us better understand what you actually like and what you dislike, and also, where you want the hobby to go.
Also, we noticed several commenters stating that they trust us to come up with the best solution in the end, and we want to thank you for this vote of confidence.
Just so you know, thanks to the 3D process, making changes to the proportions is really not a big deal. And so, we will continue to watch how these conversations develop before committing to a final decision.
But we can say that our personal taste is for proportions more in line to the ones of our Heroines, because we find them more beautiful, and because we think that the entire industry is moving towards “truer”, or at least, more elegant proportions.”

While I have to take my hat off to RH for listening to feedback and reacting to it, I find the above statement staggering. I can understand trying to figure out (pun not intended but will take it) what the market wants, not sure if analysing what is out there provides the best way forward for a design team.
It sounds to much like one of those collages where someone will try and make the most beautiful face by pasting together parts from different women. The “best eyes” the “best lips” etc.
Like designing a horse by committee they always end up with a camel.
It is also like limiting the gene pool by inbreeding. It will only end up selecting and perpetuating the cliches such as basketballs for tits that with every new release seems to get further up the rib cage and close to the throat for example.
Get into the life room and draw. Find sources of inspiration from outside the industry.
Good points. Having said that I just got a flyer from wayland with some axfaction female characters….That Raging Heroes may want to look at. Normal proportions and amazingly dynamic poses and fantatstic paintjobs. Especially the troll slayer and bear rider (sounds a bit odd this one but the figure is amazing). If you ever come across a beautiful lady in a bikini riding a feral bear she would look just like that…..; )

Thinking about it they do seem to have done the hard work of being original and stylish…if the art is anything to go by! They just need to deliver that in the models.
I really have found I enjoy the tough girls range. They are stylish and sexy enough to be appealing, but they fit the bill of being soldiers by avoiding being pinups. I have to throw in my agreement with Chibi on these ones though, they look like they appear to have a case of missing mid-drift syndrome. I’d still use them over GW guardsmen anytime though.
The artwork is awesome, the models need to stick to the artwork especially in the proportions, the artwork is a fine 1/3/3 while the renders are a 1/2/3, that been said RH have proven so far to be a great company that hears to criticism and adapts fast and efficiently, I am expecting them to fix this.
They look more Mandalorian inspired than Imperial Guard to me
They have three factions on the KS. One is def. Imperial Guard style the other two are a bit more steampunky germanic undead traitor, if you know what I mean……I must admit though, the sculpts above do have a bit of Boba going on.
